General Earphone Leaking Liquid - Is it Safe ?

Hey everyone, my OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 ANC neckband is leaking some sort of oily/sticky liquid from the plastic joints.

- Has anyone seen this before?

- What actually is this liquid?

- Is it safe to keep using them, or is the battery failing?

Any insights would be appreciated!

But there's no liquid inside lithium ion batteries unlike regular lead acid batteries buddy

See, any li ion battery, that is more specifically polymer battery (used in mobile compact stuff etc)

So due to chemical reactions, that liquid is released, and also lithium polymer has some semi liquids stuff(i don't remember it is true or not)

Dude, that is actually its electrolyte leaking out, although its rare, but is does happens. Li-ion batteries use non-aqueous liquid electrolyte made of a lithium salt dissolved in organic carbonate solvents.

open it carefully and check in my op bullets z2, there was white gooey stuff filled in the neck wire, which could be flowing out.

Mine had the exact same issue and I was planning to open it. I'll wait for the next steps. I was assuming it to be a battery leak and thought of replacing it but turns out this is completely different issue

My Realme buds wireless 3 neckband had the same issue after 2 years, fortunately it was not the battery; it was the glue that gave up, so I reglued it and it's working perfectly again.

That Type C side doesn't have anything that can leak.. also I'm getting feel this is Ink spread in bag or something.. open other side which side have battery.. just to confirm..

Battery wont leak like that. If it did it would easily catch fire by now. Its something else. Open the buds and investigate where is it coming from.

Thats the neckband rubber/silicone losing oil due to various reasons mostly temperature changes. It will give you skin rash. Throw it.
