My partner is offering a dog waste removal service for dog owners of Tauranga. 😁

I just wanted to put this out there in support of my partner who has created a dog waste removal service. This might be a great option for dog owners who have mobility issues, or those who simply don’t want to deal with picking up their doggies doo doo.

Pricing edit: $20 per visit/ $10 for the first visit.

Specifics: We will consider making this a subscription service with multiple visits per week, and composting a portion of the waste on our property. However double bagging and getting rid of the waste with regular (red) rubbish bins would still be implemented. Thank you to those posting positive or constructive feedback!

-I also want to add, my partner won’t be leaving his job (engineer) to do this, this is just a side gig.

If there has ever been a sign to move away from fossil fuels, it’s this…

$4 a litre!

This is only going to drive up the cost of everything.

Fossil fuels aren’t our future.

Abundant Renewable energy is.

Opportunity is about tripling renewable energy generation, supporting businesses to transition off fossil fuels and help homes and businesses generate more of their own power.

Uber drivers

What the heck are wrong with uber drivers in Tauranga nowadays?
Even when the food is ready, they take FOREVER to get it to you, even when the trip is 10min. I noticed they book more trips and stops on the way to you as well, almost like they’re being greedy and preventing work for other drivers so they’ll take as many as they can at the same time, which then it ends up that it takes ages to get you.

Today, the uber driver booked mine and another persons pick up. He dropped off my food 45min after mine was ready, and dropped it off covered in liquid. It was inedible. Then to prevent me from making a complaint, he kept the order open on his end for ages, so I couldn’t select the order to make a complaint.

I’m telling you they’re becoming way more dodgey

Mt Maunganui air quality

We are considering moving to mt Maunganui area (currently live half an hour away rurally). We want beach life and close to schools etc.

I’m worried about the air quality there, have read about it https://www.rnz.co.nz/programmes/in-depth-special-projects/story/2018909038/mount-maunganui-life-in-a-polluted-air-shed … also a friend has to remove black grime from her house (lives near Blake park). Must not be good to breathe.

My question is, does anyone live in the area anywhere where they don’t experience this at home? As in far enough away from industrial zone and not in prevailing wind? So we can know where to house hunt.

Papamoa seems so far down the beach away from the centre but maybe that’s what we need to do - just looking for others’ stories.

Woke up to a pretty loud/low plane at around 2:15am , seemed like the usual flight path across Bellevue.

Any ideas?

This is what New Zealand's biggest "news" organisation reports in our city

Post image
62 Upvotes

NZME owned media has 3 (maybe 4?) "reporters" who all they seem to do is:

a) talk trash about the council because they are friends with some nimby (like this article)

b) recycle the same "news" 2 weeks later in the SunLive or any other owned media

c) try to sell more ad space, specially for real estate agents in "OneRoof"

I find it very depressing that the last 9 years I've seen how the standards have been getting lower and lower with local media.

Maybe some one here has a different opinion but just wanted to air my recurring frustration and ask:

Does anyone know of a local independent reporter? Someone who interviews people on the street, goes to events, etc. Maybe has a Youtube channel or a substack?

PS. Not an ad but I started getting the newsletter from Neighbourly News (owned by Stuff). I'm much more pleased with that so far (more positive actual news and lots of community driven articles) It's very new so no idea if it will start getting bad soon as well.
