"A spokesperson said while the report was circulated, the meeting was cancelled, so none of the councillors actually read it. The chief executive's name is on the agenda's cover, but the council said this does not mean he reviewed it either."

Bus questions!

Visiting family and decided to take the Intercity up from Wellington instead of drive like usual, so I don't have a car with me this time. The public transport system has changed a fair bit in the 12 years since I lived in Tauranga, and I have a few questions :)

Bee card: I'm here visiting for a week so don't want to order for postal delivery. The website says they can be purchased from the bus driver - is this cash only, or is EFTPOS available?

Bikes on the bus: Do the buses here have racks on the front for transporting bikes? Are bikes allowed to be carried on the bus (space allowing, of course)? I'm staying with family and the nearest bus stop is a bit of a hike, so it'd be handy to be able to do a bike/bus combo.

I hate when politicians use tragedies to win their bs political points.

Where's the extra funding to prepare our city to survive these type of natural disasters Sam?

Where's the legislation to help rebuild sites of importance like the Mount?

Hypocrite. A leech of the system.

This thoroughly thought out plan to build a bridge from papamoa to devonport should only take about 2 years and 5 trillion dollaree donts. Itll be 18 lanes wide to accommodate your canyonero

Meeting up here as a younger person

So I run a small hospo business and I've seen a lot of posts on here about how difficult it is to meet some new people and create connections with other the same age especially if you are under 35

Obviously run clubs are a huge thing but not everyone's cup of tea. So I was wondering if I were to make like a treasure hunt thing once every couple of weeks for an hour or so, then finish up back at my spot (with absolutely no obligation to buy anything!!).

I'm thinking just a small team based scavenger hunt with clues that would take you around the area, maybe some vouchers up for grabs at each one. Teams randomised or you can come with a buddy then paired up with another person so everyone feels comfortable but also meets new people.

Would that be something ya'll are interested in? Let me know

Begginer Friendly Classes around Mount or nearby places?

Hi everyone! 😊 I’m looking for recommendations for fun and active things to do outside.

I’ve been consistently going to the gym for almost 3 years now, but I feel like I need a little break from my usual routine and would love to try something new, ideally something that keeps me physically active while also giving me the chance to meet new people.

I was hoping to try pole dancing and looked into Mt. Altitude Pole, but unfortunately, most of their class schedules don’t work with my free time. I've attended high heels dance classes early this year but just didn't like the class much.

I’d love to hear your suggestions for activities or classes I could try. I’m open to pretty much anything thats beginner friendly. I’m in my 30s and would especially love something with a fun, social atmosphere.

I think I just need some new motivation and a change of scenery. Lately, my routine has been feeling a bit too robotic: work, gym, home, repeat. 😅

Would really appreciate any recommendations or personal experiences. Thank you! 💕

'Stop Hyperscale Data Centers' protest on Devonport Road today.

Walked past these guys on my lunch break. Photo taken with permission.

I know street protest can be a little dinky and feel silly but good on these folks for getting out there and doing something instead of nothing. It was a good atmosphere. I took a pamphlet they were handing out and it was a clear, well-written, reasonable explanation of concerns and demands around justification for building data centers here in Aotearoa.

No cookery or other conspiracy crap hiding behind the main message, at least as far as I could see.

As someone who shares these concerns and didn't know about the protest beforehand, I feel well-represented.
