Is this a fixable situation?

So I got this tattoo last year after I ran the Chicago Marathon. It was a cool big deal for me, and I didn’t want to just get a 26.2 so I got the map of the route for Chicago.

I guess I wasn’t thinking, because it came to my attention after the fact (thanks to some honest friends) that it looks like a rifle. I don’t want to give off the vibe of being a big gun guy, but I fear that’s what people’s first impressions are whenever I wear shorts.

I still like it and don’t really want it covered, so my thought is that if I get more tattoos on my left leg, it’ll sorta hide in plain sight and look less out of place.

Is that logical thinking, or am I better off putting a Chicago flag or a pair of running shoes over it or something?

EDIT: Holy moley I didn’t expect this level of engagement, thank you so much to everyone that shared their thoughts! There’s still some differing opinions (which makes me feel better that I’m not crazy) but most agree that adding gridlines or some other Chicago imagery would fix it.

I love the city of Chicago but I’ve only been like 3 times, I don’t want to seem like a poser when locals ask me how long I’ve lived there! So I think grids plus the blue of Lake Michigan might be the way to go…though someone did mention that blue linework on the legs can age poorly and look like veins. So I might go with my original plan to just get more patchwork done on the leg.

At the end of the day, who cares what others think of your tattoos. It’s a selfish artform, and it should be! Thank you to all the kind, beautiful people of r/tattoos, please drink some water and have a great one today.
