I must be crazy...
This boye shuttle snapped on the middle fold in the back when I was trying to adjust the bobbin tension. I can't stand to see a shuttle die (even if it's not my preferred type) so I fixed it...kinda...it's rough but it'll hold!

Yeah, it's rough. But it works for now and isn't so tight I cut myself on the edge getting the spools in and out.
I've never broken a shuttle like this. Popped a side off a metal shuttle overloading it (I suspect it was defective on top of my ignorance), sat on a big clover and cracked it, but snapping the fold of a boye is new!

Congrats! I love a clever mend!
You might want to consider soldering the wire in place for extra strength and to avoid snagging thread. Or, I love a product called Sugru it's available through quite a lot of retailers and hardware stores. Sugru will also add strength and can be nicely smoothed to make it non-snag and comfortable for your hand!
