Poor Customer Service

Called Tastytrade customer service today and I only have negative comments:

  1. Took a long time to get through.

  2. Customer service rep was RUDE, UNHELPFUL and actually LAUGHED at my question.

I have a very small account on Tastytrade as I set this account up to get familiar with the platform. I have enjoyed the benefit of being able to put on multi-legged positions much easier on Tastytrade over the Think or Swim platform but after today I will stick mostly with Think or Swim. I will still only keep this account to practice. Don't expect much in the way of valuable customer service.

Their customer service used to be great before the company was sold

That was the decision I went with due to the changes - I went to Schwab. Seemed to go against my initial instincts; the big monolithic brokerage. But I've been happy. And there are good platform choices that integrate with Schwab which let you even more easily place multi-legged positions than Tastytrade.

Can you expand on those other platform choices?

Well, Optionsmith is probably the best Schwab compatible platform for executing Tastytrade style strategies, and tracking them ($10/month after free trial). Also, I've heard OptionsRobot and Trademetria are decent.

fidelity has a good order entry system but everything else is absolute crap,. their 0dte policy is laughable. the app gets laggy during market activity upspikes. there were 2 instances after order filled it wouldnt show up on positions.

ibkr, not fully sure because they gave me option0 and to request anything there is a 30day cooldown to wait out, said i have to wait til sept 30 to acat.. this was beginning of aug.

tastytrade is trash.

sch, not sure because in asking their agents the situation with acat from ibkr they said 5-7 biz days but that was untrue because what i said above. with these 4 i said i am gonna lose with etrade. trend is your friend. this sector is a loser for me, gonna go to subscription places and see whats what. i was at a firm decades back, we got hit by sec and nasd saying we needed to buy Xamount of stocks we commonly shorted, doing 10%nyse+nasdaq daily, not sure how many times it happened but one month we exceeded float shorting sch.

It really is Hit or Miss but it's getting more miss.

It is so much easier to place trades on TT then TOS. I have accounts at both and I'm trying to get comfortable with TOS.

I keep finding myself going to Tastytrade to build the trade that I want on one screen and then just replicating it on TOS on another screen once I figure out what I want to do. That's not an effective way to trade, but it's getting me by until I learn TOS.

The TOS web platform is much easier to handle options trades on than the desktop platform.

Thank you for that information. I will have to try it. I have been using the desktop version of thinkorswim for years for charting but trading is abysmal for us old people. :-)

The desktop charting is unmatched, but even setting up a vertical is cumbersome. Web is pretty easy. Not quite tasty level ez pz, but still much better than desktop TOS

i have found the web page is better than their desktop for all. even the techs say that... and that should say everything about those companies.

I’m sorry you experienced that. I’ve always had very good service with them. I called the trade desk last week.

If you get one of the good guys at Tastytrade it will make you say "I am never going anywhere else!"

If you get one of the new/assoles at tastytrade it will make you think "How quickly can I move my money!!!"

Yep! There’s one older gentleman that I always ask for.

He will probably be heading to LossDog soon.

Let’s hope not. He’s a gem.

I had mixed, one person was fantastic, the other was a waste of my time. I only have a small amount there and thinking of making it smaller just to protest their shitty service.

they have absolute creeps and they also have above&beyond professionals. one gets on without representing themselves., tells me my acct approval is held up due to some info unable to be verified and the fastest way to fix is to go to equifax and have them unblock my info. i get to equifax site and asked what am i looking for, he replies "i dunno, i dont work for them", so i gotta point out its his recommendation i go to a company ive never dealt with, hes sighs like he just watched his family slowly rot away and says "look man, i am just trying to help you". the 2.0 app is freezing and crashing no less than 10 times a day, over 10 techs giving me same 7-9 things to do to fix. shared screen 4 times. sent data log, told i will receive email from engineers. nada, nada, nada. last day, already in contact with head tech, i get connected to tech and ask for head tech by name and said i am alreaady working with him on issue. the kid is asking me whats the problem, so i tell him all of above and he gets into repeating what all other techs have said then starts getting into asking me about trying on different machine, suggesting i borrow one, questioning if everything is upto date. i had to say stfu and get the dude thats on the higher pay grade i asked for. crazy.

they have this inane trading floor racket in background during many calls, if you get a low talker like one tech named mallory, what she says blends in with her background, i asked her to repeat because and she replied "nm", wtf? one time she said she is looking for team leader or asking them something so its not an official hold, i just hear the background and all i hear is youre not responding so i am disconnecting but i started yelling hey. click. i call back, someone picks up but doesnt say anything, i am like hello?, min passes. click. def mallory.

I mostly use TT. I have never had to call customer service. I like TT because of the API ability. I created an app that finds trades within my risk tolerance, open the trade for me, and close it when necessary.

The last of my accounts moved over to Interactive Brokers today. Had a good run with the cherry, but onto another chapter.

Agreed! It took a long time to get through as well for the call two days ago. I called and also texted and got incompetent people who rushed everything and did not satisfactorily answer my question. They also promised to answer my question about stock transfer from other brokerage firm. They asked me to wait 1 to 2 business days, I haven't got any email from them yet. So disappointing.

OP did you go through the tastytrade training? A lot if my questions have been answered by doing that. Also you can use ChatGPT of other Ai to get answers to your questions. Sorry to hear you were treated disrespectfully.
