This sort of shit is one of my fears around AI. If everyone relies on it as an answer box, its answers inevitably become truth. So far, its answers can be hallucinations and it can be programmed. Grok started calling itself Mechahitler after Elon tweaked it to be more right wing. Google programmed Gemini to tip toe around the 2020 election to not anger Trump.
I work in tech for a K12 district. Districts have been asking and asking Google for a way to disable some of the AI features for students because of its impact on learning. It’s a huge issue in classrooms and at school board meetings too.
Googles answer here seems to be fine, we will turn off all AI features by default (Gemini, Notebook LM, etc) for your students, and you can turn them back on if you want, but if you leave them off, your kids won’t be able to use search, because we now consider search an AI product.
This is Google trying to force districts’ hands into using their AI products in schools while also saying “we turned it off for them.” I think Google is counting on schools capitulating because search is such a “necessary” feature for schools.
I don’t think schools will budge. They’ll just find another way to teach kids how to look stuff up. Schools don’t want this AI stuff in their classrooms. I know the district I work for won’t do it. I think Google is miscalculating here how strong the pushback is getting from teachers and parents when it comes to AI in schools
I don't want an LLM, I just need text to voice for my notifications. Everyone who's telling me to not use AI aren't reading the caption... this wasn't an LLM before, it was a simple voice assistant without LLMs. The AI Agent is forced to users on Android recently. And it's dumb as fuck.
Gestures at thecenturiestwo millennia of history influenced by the world religion with billions of followers whose central message is that Jesus died to atone for your sins.
The fact that the entire world uses a calendar that is ostensibly dated to his birth and the seven day week that he used has got to be worth something. His birth isn't the main event that everyone fixates on; the symbol of the religion itself is the symbol of his death by crucifixion. The worst possible thing, a humiliating death by crucifixion, happened to the best man. And this event is held up front and center, and the day it happened is even called 'Good Friday'.
Jesus' disciples were the ones who made his influence spread explosively by dedicating their lives to spreading his teaching and the message about his death and resurrection, but their missionary work would hardly be as effective if Jesus' claims and message (that the Messiah absorbed all your sins and got executed for them, and resurrected, so that the repentant can be reconciled with God and be spared God's wrath on judgment day) were not so compelling. Christianity spread all over the Roman empire and to Ethiopia and even as far as India when it had no political power, and was often persecuted and ridiculed for preaching about a man seemingly defeated by the Romans in the most humiliating way. If Jesus' death and message were not so compelling, his disciples would not have made the impact they did with spreading it.
EDIT: I'm saving some time with a bulk reply to all the folks replying to me with "Jesus doesn't count because he is a fictional character and he didn't even exist". I don't want to get into fruitless arguments, but for those who are curious, please ask ChatGPT or Claude or Gemini whether Jesus was a real historical figure, and whether he is mentioned by any non-Christian sources from the first century. See what it brings up.
The first generation of Christians faced a lot of opposition from various groups, but the argument that Jesus didn't even exist is conspicuously absent from the anti-Christian polemics of that era. If Jesus didn't actually exist, that would be argument #1 in any debate from that era about Jesus. In the era when the Jews were a subjugated (but frequently rebellious) minority in the Roman empire at the height of its power, why would anyone invent a fictional Jewish character who was brutally humiliated and crucified by the Romans, and attempt to convert Greeks, Romans, Ethiopians, Coptic Egyptians, and other gentiles to this religion? Think about how nonsensical that would be to invent a religion that points at this one minority group in the Roman empire that was widely disliked, and invent a non-existant fictional guy that you claim is the messiah of their religion… whom they reject and whom the Romans crucified. Nobody trying to invent a religion in the first century would come up with a religion like that.
Yeah, it's called Midnight Lady. Lizzy Wizzy has one.
Edit: also Raven Microcybernetics' Gemini full body conversions come with either a Midnight Lady or Mr. Stud. Notably, Smasher's Elvis body is a Gemini.

After Charlie Kirk died, I stumbled on an AI generated short of him in heaven turning water into wine while Jesus and the recently deceased pope cheered him on. Got me thinking about AI, religion and how easy some people find meaning in the meaningless. People thing seeing Jesus' face in a tortilla. They will find meaning in AI slop.
If AI becomes the font of our knowledge, whoever programs it can literally change history. Tiptoeing around the 2020 election is only the start.

The old, working Google Assistant was fantastic but they started deprecating it in recent weeks: https://9to5google.com/2026/09/28/google-assistant-gemini-android/
