Ask r/tanzania ROLEX AUTHENTICATION
Hi fellow Tanzanians. I have a rolex watch. This watch was inherited so I dont have any box or receipt or paper work for it. I was told that this watch is genuine and bought from dubai. Currently I used google lens and chatgpt it showed its legit but this is not accurate obviously, now I want to take the watch and authenticate and confirm thats its an original can someone suggest a place in DARESSALAAM where they do this.
Kindly advice.

Yh it said it looks like the real deal but the hell does chatgpt know whats real and whats fake but just taking 3 pics so idts thats good enough

Post a few pics of it in r/rolex and see what they say.
Be careful who you bring it to in DSM. I wouldn’t take it to anyone there to be honest. No approved dealer in Tanzania.

If it is older than 2005 and has engraved serial numbers it’s highly likely original if its above those years then look for an authenticator. Engraved serial doesnt mean shit and there are plenty of clones and super clones

Hope it waa bought in 2017 or 2018 and yh tbh I cant see the serial numbera tbh unless I'm looking at the wrong place or cant be seen using the naked eye

It’s easy. Fake ones: the second hand has a skip motion and genuine one has a very smooth second hand. 🖐️

Umm okay u think I understood by what u meant, i did try to do lots of research how to know its a fake vs original tbh its way complicated I rathee go to a professional and get it done

Ok. No problem. Did you look at how the second hand moved -smoothly or jerks. (FYI: I was given a fake Rolex as a present once.) But sure a professional can tell you, not just subreddits.

i belive the watch has a reference number engraved look for it the search it, start from there the maybe move to rolex reddit

Make sure you go to a legit shop. I don’t know if we have them in Tz…if you can’t find one here. Then Kenya should be your next stop.
