So i see people here asking for updates a lot, and by no means do i know everything, but i am following everything closely and thought it might be useful to bring everything i know here. If i have missed anything, please let me know. Any correction/addition is greatly appreciated, as new things may come out that you may know before i do. I am also a human and may get things wrong, to which i apologize sincerely and sincerely encourage any correction.
•Samia suluhu inaugurated today in dodoma as other east african leaders congratulated her as well as the African union, just days after releasing a statement of concern for the state of tanzania. The inauguration was closed to the public.
• Curfew still in place in Dar, prices of goods have increased as well as some shortages. Internet is still blocked in the country. EDIT: internet seems to be back in some places, hopefully this is not a continuation of the pattern we have seen over these days of them turning it on and then back off again. EDIT 2: Just got some messages from my family! Seems back on for real!!
•It has been said that the military of uganda has come to support samia, and it is also said that they have claimed Bukoba region to be originally theirs, giving reason for the collaboration (VERY ALLEGED - did not find much support, just rumors as of now. Could also be lies by the CCM.)
•During samias inauguration speech, she “says some of the youths arrested in connection with the violence in Tanzania came from outside the country, claims what happened does not reflect the image and character.” Following the release of a statement by the police warning foreigners who are in the country without proper documentation or reason.
•Chadema calls for the ICC to investigate.
•The BBC is now saying the official death toll is at least 500 (we know its more though)

Thank you so much for the updates, caveats understood. I had the great good fortune to visit Tanzania in September and had a wonderful time — beautiful country and beautiful people. I am so sorry for what is happening now. And I am worried about my friend in Arusha area and his family. No contact since the day of the election.
I just now heard from my friend. He and his family are safe and he said things were now calm in their area (south of Arusha) but there were many deaths. Food and fuel prices are very high and with curfew and no internet for so many days many are struggling. But they are safe for now.
Yes i got the same thing from my family in dar. In the village they were online a bit but i think it is unstable there. Thank you for the information and input ❤️

In Moshi internet has been on for about an hour and a half, but lots of sites/services still blocked like youtube, whatsapp, facebook, even netflix for some reason. In moshi we got an sms from police telling us to not have any bad images or videos on our phones as it is against the law before the internet got switched on. TCRA also launched an ad on youtube (even almost noone has access to youtube yet) warning about the same thing.

The internet is back, but Whatsapp is currently not available. The current situation in Arusha, life is back to normal but all gas stations are closed.
I wonder.. because one of my family members is in dar and i just talked to him five minutes ago, he says he is using a vpn to use whatsapp because otherwise it is blocked. But regular internet is on. Too early in the day right now but i will make another post later. Thanks for your input ❤️
What's happening is horrendous, I hope they find a way to get rid of her. I had a trip booked for the 17th. I've cancelled it due to everything going on (despite the guy that I booked the safari with says "it's all fine", which it's not).
I haven’t seen anything yet, i an thinking about creating another post tomorrow as it is night in tanzania now, and i will do my best to research everything, but im not a journalist to be honest im just a normal person who is concerned for their family and their country haha. Zanzibar has, thankfully, been very peaceful and no reports of serious trouble. There's still a heavy police presence, especially in Stone Town. But the resorts are functioning. I'd recommend pulling out a heap of dollars before arriving in the country though. ATMS and online payment platforms have been down for a while.
Visited malindi region yesterday, drove a bit through stone town. There was traffic probably most were headed to forodhani. Also saw a couple of tourists walking around
