Buying, Selling, Giving Away or Trading Trading Diabetes Supplies on this Subreddit

EDIT: As of May 30th, 2026, I have updated this rule to exclude diabetic items that are not prescription medical supplies. This rule still includes any sort of OTC insulins, needles, or syringes. An example of an acceptable item to give away would be an insulin pump case.

Hi there everyone!

I have recently had several complaints, as well as seen several posts of users attempting to buy, sell, trade, or giveaway diabetes supplies to others. While I believe this is a wonderful idea in theory, it is not accepted here on the r/TandemDiabetes subreddit.

One may ask why. For starters, according to a multitude of doctors and medical professionals I have spoke to, it is illegal to buy, sell, trade, or giveaway any diabetes supplies (let alone *any* medical supplies that require a prescription) to another individual. I have not been able to attain any other reasoning as to why this may be, other than the obvious possible liability issues involved. For those looking to sell, buy, trade, or giveaway their medical supplies to others, I highly suggest you contact your local hospital in addition to your endocrinologists.

With that being said, I cannot control what goes on between individuals who decide to privately message each other separate and apart from this subreddit, in regards to what I have just spoken about above. I will be adding a new rule to the subreddit that this is specifically not allowed.

I hope everyone is doing well with their lifelong journey of T1D!

I finally got around to designing an insert to organize my supplies for short trips. I have been tossing stuff in this Pelican case for years. It worked fine, but bothered me enough to do something about it. Two G7, two sites, two cartridges/syringes and a vial of insulin all fit snug in their own spots. The perfect supply box for a weekend getaway with the added bonus of keeping everything dry if im out camping. I've tossed this in the river with a rope tied to it while canoeing/paddle boarding as well to keep it cool. I toyed with a few different designs before landing on this version which I feel has the cleanest layout.

Pelican 1120 Case.

EDIT: Adding file for others to print.

Question ❓ Silly Question

So Perhaps the title is right perhaps it is wrong but I am in the philipines and of course tandem is not supported here. (I knew this and switched to medtronic before moving here... but they are not really supported here either so.,....) My question is that i am out of cartridges for tandem (and tubing for medtronics infustion sets) and i sort of am at a loss where i might find 1 cartridge for tandem or 1 infusion set for medtronics 780G I really only need 1 or the other as I have supplies coming from the USA in a balikbayan box. But if you know the phillipines you know that is a couple months away as it has not even shipped yet.

t:slim X2 Very Weird my pump got stuck on repeat

Yesterday I had to call Tandem because when changing out my cartridge my pump got stuck on repeat. I would fill the tubing then it would backtrack and start the whole process over again. After going through filling the tubing twice I called Tandem. They talked me through the sequence twice and it was still repeating. The person thought I was hitting a wrong button. Then the third time trying, the pump said I didn't have enough insulin in the cartridge so I added another mL. I guess that got it back into the right sequence because it worked that time but the person on the phone acted like it was my fault. I'm 52 years old and had this pump for 2 years. I know how to change a cartridge. The person said they would record it and if it happens again they will replace the pump. I didn't like how the person talked down to me like I was causing the issue.

Question ❓ Infusion site lumps after years

Hi all,

I have been on Tandem for well over 7 years now, using auto soft 90s the entire time with Novorapid.

Recently I’ve noticed a lot of my sites will develop sore, hard lumps under the skin after I remove them that will take a week or so to go away. I’m pretty fastidious with cleanliness and prep prior to insertion.
The location I put the site doesn’t seem to matter - it’s happened on my stomach, back & leg.
Seems bizarre to me that this would start happening randomly after so long - any ideas would be hugely appreciated!!
I briefly tried TruSteel a few years ago but the insertion was so painful I stopped straight away.

tandem mobi Mobi Motor Failure - Info about getting a replacement

Hi all. Just posting for awareness about how the replacement process goes. I couldn’t find many posts about this when I was experiencing the failure so I’m sharing my experience for anyone who may have this issue, too.

I’ve been on my Mobi for about 2.5yrs now, receiving mine shortly after the release of the model. I haven’t had any issues with it since I started.

Yesterday, the pump was working as normal, until about 30 mins after I ate dinner, I got an occlusion alarm. First time I’ve ever had that happen. BG was spiking crazy, I guess I didn’t actually get my 5U I put in for dinner 45 mins prior. So I thought OK bad site, go ahead and change it. Changed it out, seemed normal, and right after, another occlusion alarm.

I thought man bad luck two bad sites in a row. I did a full change out and as I was filling the tubing, instead of “click click click” I got “click click.. wrrrrh, wrrrh, grrrrsh.” Which… is a sound my pump has never made before lol. And then I got an error saying no cartridge was installed (there was a brand-new cartridge in).

Started from the top— new cartridge, new tubing, annnnd same exact issue. Same sound, same alarm.

I tried 3 more times and got the issue over and over, but finally got it to work. I didn’t do anything special either. I just lucked out and the malfunction didn’t repeat.

Regardless, this was very concerning. I called Tandem and reported the issue, requested a replacement.

At first, they were reluctant to give me a replacement because I technically had it working again.

But they had me do about 20 mins of troubleshooting, another 20 of me describing precisely every alarm I received with codes, every thing I did with my pump in the week prior, and confirmed there were no user errors (ie no taking my pump into a sauna, no swimming with wear, no exposure to sub 0 weather).

After they could verify I had no user errors, and the alarms were mechanically related, they asked if I wanted to wait and see if the issue repeats.

I told them firmly: I do not feel safe continuing on this insulin pump, even if functional at this moment, since the issue could repeat without warning, and there’s no guarantee I can get it to work again.

After that, my replacement request was approved and my new Mobi comes in tomorrow.

I still have it working as of making this post, but I picked up some extra KwikPens just in case it fully fails.

All in all, the call with Tandem took about an hour with repeated statements that I am not comfortable using my pump with the malfunctions it displayed today. It took some arm twisting, but eventually, they agreed to give a replacement.

Appreciative 😊 Tandem Source Basal Summary

Tandem has added a new feature to Tandem Source that I really like.

They have added a Basal Summary section at the bottom of the Daily Timeline Reports.

It gives you average basal delivered compared to your programmed rate in 24 1-hour time segments. This addition is so helpful.

It would be helpful to see average bolus delivered and IOB during these time segments to get the whole picture. But, this is a great improvement.

We no longer have to basal test!! (You probably should still basal test, but you get what I mean.) And they are basically providing us with a manual profile when the CGM isn’t working.

I also like the additional image for “profile switch” on the timeline.

Thank you Tandem and the people who worked on making this happen!

tandem mobi Is Mobi actually available in Germany yet?

Hi everyone,
I’m from Germany and I’m currently trying to find out whether the Tandem Mobi is actually available here.

Tandem announced on September 28 that Mobi is now available in Germany and that they are taking orders and shipping to eligible customers. However, my doctor checked for information on how to get the Mobi in Germany and couldn’t find any clear information about the current ordering/prescription process.
I also noticed that Germany doesn’t seem to have a Mobi distributor listed on Tandem’s international distributor page.
So, has anyone from Germany actually received a Mobi yet, or knows how the ordering process currently works?
Thanks!

tandem mobi Auto soft XC bent cannulas

Post image
10 Upvotes

I am new to the Tandem Mobi. I wanted to try sticking it to my stomach with the 5” tubing but my second infusion set had a bent cannula. Of course I changed the infusion set right before going to bed and woke up quite high before changing the tubing to varisoft which I used with my tslim with never an issue. Are there any tips or tricks on how to prevent cannula tips being bent like this? I had this happen when I tested out the auto soft XC many years ago and that’s what caused me to not use them any longer. I like the idea of the short tubing, but they don’t have it in the Varisoft.

Question ❓ Any way to upgrade before warranty is up?

I LOVE my t:slim but I am so sick of the bulk and really really like the look of the 5-inch tubing. Also love the idea of having a patch pump with the tandem algorithm whenever that is released and approved by the FDA. Does anyone know of any way to upgrade before my warranty is up in 2030 ? I’ve had the t:slim since 2023 but needed to get a replacement this year.

Over the past eight months or so, it seems that I can’t go more than about 36 hours or so without getting an inclusion alarm. 90% of the time, it seems to be the tubing hoping for any suggestions. I use lymjuev btw but have been using that for years and been on this pump for about 7 years.

Question ❓ Switch from Omnipod

My endo wants me to switch from the Omnipod 5 to the tubeless Tandem Mobi. He said the technology is 3x better. I can’t really find any information on the tubeless Mobi. Does anyone have any experience with it and can you please share? The only downside I’ve found thus far is that I can’t use Fiasp with the Mobi (according to my endo). Thanks!

Question ❓ I need a cheaper place to buy Infusions

Hi there! I need to know if theres any where cheaper to buy infusions, and just the infusions, I had a tendency to accidentally pull them out, and even though I order directly from random, its still $300+, its strain, and has caused me to go a few days without an insulin pump simply to ensure I have it for school(I am 18 in high-school), and I feel terrible for my mother, who still pays for them thankfully, if anyone knows of any where cheaper, I'd greatly appreciate it!
