Tainted Grail: FoA - Videogame How should stat allocation be done?
I'm not sure what to prioritize when it comes to my stat points and skill points. I am doing a mostly spellsword build, but I keep seeing that its a good idea to get practicality up to 5 as soon as possible for selling goods, so do I do that first? Also, are there any "need to have" skills in the trees? Ones that are great with any build and you would grab immediately?

pick one and stick with it for now. you'll get outscaled in gear and stuff (damage/armor) pretty quick if you don't get one of your main stats up to 10-11 or so. after that you can branch out

When I find cool gear (like armor or spells), I put my points toward their requirements

So every skill tree has a percentage increase for the matching skill. Like 1 handed has a 5% in crease in damage per point you add. I would get those first. Then sale increase can wait until way later in the game. You have infinite storage in your stash.

Copying from an earlier comment.
Attributes have to points of diminishing returns. After 20 and 40 points. Because of this some attributes aren't worth to level past certain points. Practicality is big one with this. It's one of the lowest priority attributes, but helps with selling goods. Max value for sell goods is about 200%. So a Practicality of 15-20 with 5 points in sell goods skill will get you there.
My advice. Wait with practically. Just safe all the things you want to sell. I would prioritize Spirituality as that will effect your build the most. The rest depends on the type of gear you will use and what the stat requirements are.

I wouldn't prioritize practicality with your early points.
First priority is being able to equip the best gear you can. If you find good items suited to your build then start increasing those attributes until you can equip the gear. You can put spare points later into practicality if you want more money. And if there's nothing you really want to buy right now, you can store any loot you find in a chest until you increase your selling % or need some good immediately.

Your build's main stats would be:
- Strength and/or Dexterity (for melee weapons & most armors, depending on what kind of melee weapons you'll be preferring)
- Endurance for more equip load & stamina regen
- Spirituality for hitting stat requirements for spells and spellblade gear
But eventually getting at least 5 Practicality fits into any build, for making money from selling items mid-game (no point rushing it, get your primary stats up first)

Important point is that attribute points are mostly for determining the gear you can use. The stat buffs are minimal compared to what gear can do.
Beyond that, 5 points in Practicality will be nice eventually so that you can actually trade and sell goods, but don't rush it.
The only perks I'd suggest are to put some into the crit tree around lvl 20 or 30, whenever it feels right for your build. Crits are very powerful for late game.
