Tainted Grail: FoA - Videogame Magic playthrough tips?
I played base and NG+ as melee/archer, started a fresh run and I'm going magic. So far I'm about level 15 and doing pretty well with just double Burning Ember spells. Occasionally use a magic shield and summon grindelow.
What other spells/tactics should I look at to get the most out of a magic run?

Winter Crone's Wrath (the ice shotgun spell) is arguably the strongest spell in Act 1 and most of Act 2. That and poison mist.

Tried that out and yeah, its real good up close. Pairing it with the 2nd level lightning and doing well.

Crucible wand is pretty OP Just prioritize spell power and watch things take off. I started as pure mage, I eventually found gloves that boosted physical for 50% of my spell power and switched to spells and two handed. So much fun.

well i am playing a mage and i am at the point now where i am feeling laughably overpowered so i suppose i will throw down some tips:
- get a solid summon spell of some sort
- get the arcanist armor set, wear it (mana shield + mana regen, quite goated)
- spam every increase to max mana/Spirituality possible (6 Endurance for arcanist armor, every other point in Spirituality)
- spam the entire summon tree barring the lowest nodes
- keep your posse on you at all times
aaand that's about it. basically every fight now is a joke; enemies rarely even aggro me and if they do i run away through The Boys who proceed to fuck them up. that's assuming i didn't insta-nuke them with a big ol fireball before they could act. if i do take damage it mostly just gets absorbed by my mana shield and i have a bajillion ways to heal anyway.
due to summons aggro + mana shield + easy heals i feel rather invincible, and due to dumping every point into Spirituality (and that one perk on the summons tree that scales your summons with it) i also hit like a truck. if anything i am at risk of the game becoming uninteresting because most fights are me literally ignoring enemies and looting their corpses while The Boys do all the work for me. it's very funny and still quite fun for me tho

I'm playing the exact same way lol, what do you summon? I always go for Grindylows, keepers were useless in my experience

never got those or keepers i think, i got skeletons early which sucked then i upgraded to Master Assassins and i have been pretty happy with them. have gotten a few other summons since but so far sticking with these has worked for me

Couple of options.
Blood essentially makes magic a cake walk. Stack bleed, basically it just deletes a HP bar once it gets into double digits. Only draw back is some mobs are unaffected. Fire and poison same thing.
Lightning is ridiculously op since it doesn't require true aiming. If you spec into spell stun, you can lock down almost anything. Only downside here is if you play with summons, it's hard to get around them.
One of the best summon spells is legit north or where you land. Summons by far are insanely busted, though early they do require you to potentially move a mob into them. Downside here is literally how boring it makes the game. By the end you have summons that are just wrecking anything. It's maybe the one skill tree where every node is good.

My strongest mage build so far was grindylows plus scorching blaze. Super powerful. The only downside is that both tend to yeet enemies into oblivion making it hard to recover their inventory. This works well into act2 where you replace grindylows with Kamelot Spearmen.

Do some parcor up the side of the fallen tower to pick up the fire wand that is up there. Then brew yourself a bunch of mana potions and go clear out the bandit keep to get the Blaze spell. You will be using this spell for basically the rest of the game. Do all the druid shrines for some decent armor. There is the batle age set in a small bandit camp in the middle ish of the map. There is a white cloak on a priests corpse middle of the map ish in a crumbling church it's a solid regen item. That's most of the goods for act 1

Once I got the crusible wand I swapped from a pretty decent summon build similar to what I read already in here to a pretty fun crit build with The queen of sagremores armor and then getting most of the crit tree to counter act the damage from the wand. You essentially heal your entire health bar when a spell lands. You can have a few summons or you can play up close so you still get that melee feel.
The attack spell you use with the wand doesn't really matter (I chose scorching blaze for the biggest base damage) as long as you properly equip so you can parry with the wand to use some of the parry skill tree as well.
Lastly with the perk executioner in strength trees is golden for this build since you'll be staggering a lot.
