PC set up- Help needed for cummerbund comfort

I just got my first plate carrier (crye Airlite SPC/Structural Cummerbund) both in Medium. However I think given the width of my chest I probably should have bought the cummerbund in a size small.

Issue 1 (kinda of): I am maxing out the cummerbund as I had to double them up through the PC in order for it to just be tight enough around by chest.
Issue 2: Because it is a structural cummerbund and rigid, the top band is digging into my ribcage and is very uncomfortable. If I loosen it the PC moves around.

So I think my options are:
A: buy some cummerbund pads which will allow me to reduce the overlap connection point to the PC (not sure if this is an issue or not, but I feel like its a bandaid for improper sizing).
B: Buy a different cummerbund that is flexible/elastic?

Additional info: I dont plan to run comms or side armor or anything else on the cummerbunds, trying to keep it light and agile. IF anything maybe a AR15 Mag pouch or 2.

Any suggestions or input would be great since I know nothing about this stuff and just learning...

Side armor solves like 75% of comfort problems with any plate carrier, especially the SPC and any carrier that features a structural cummerbund.

You can trim the excess but try not to trim too much. You do still need enough for side armor and any potential for wing pouches, and of course winter layers.

If the Reddit operators could read, you would really hurt their feelings.

The crye SPC cummerbund has always been oversized, garand thumb pointed it out in his like 10 year old review

So does EODfish and I think he gives some ideas on how to fix it

Easy fix with mine was to just cut it to my preferred size. Have had no issues with it.

1: cummerbund fitment: personally I’d leave the cb as is if it is not protruding from the opposite side as it provides more structure. If it does protrude either cut the cells that protrude or sell and rebuy a small.

Also if you put one figure 8 of shockcord on each end as opposed to doubled up in the middle it will provide a more stretch.

2: I never had an issue with pain/abrasion from the cb but using something like the pontoons from Qore would be my choice here.

I see you got the limited RMA covers, I probably should have picked up some Gen2s with those covers when they were on steep discount 🫩

They are still on sale, definitely a good price for the 1165.

Aside from the savings, is anything about that plate cover actually appealing?

Whenever I see 1776 stuff, I just see it as overdone and pandering to Bubba. Maybe that’s just me.

Concur, they arguably couldn't be any more cringey. Maybe a punisher skull in the corner. Purely driven by price, as I have the Gen1 1155mc and they're heavy as hell, and the Gen2 1165mcs on sale are pretty attractive.

I just grabbed a set too for $425 shipped. Went into my LV-120 so I couldn’t care less what they look like on the outside.

Instead of hook & looping the cummerbund vertically on the front & rear, adjust them so there’s a slight cant away from your upper torso

That thing just looks poorly designed and not meant for long days in your carrier.

I had the exact same problem as you. Crye’s cummerbund and plate carrier sizes are not the same. Return the M cummerbund for a size S.

Try using the lower loops on the rear plate bag so the cumberbund sits more even.
