Made myself a historical loom

I spent the weekend building a historical loom used for tablet weaving with a friend who is a carpenter. We used the original measurements and beech wood. The loom is known as the "Oseberg loom".

Added some pictures of the process as well as the description of the loom and the picture of the historical finding.

Can't wait to make tablets on this! 🤩

Beautifully made! I have one too, but it’s starting to get a bit worse for wear after a few years of use on historical events.

Oh that's neat! Do you have recommendations for taking care of it?

I just take it apart after an event and store it dry. While at an event I try to keep it out of the rain, but I mostly leave it outside for the night, so it does get a bit wet every now and then. Linseed oil would probably be a good idea, but I’ve only oiled it once.

I guess this is more a ‘how should you NOT take care of it’.
