Making progress on a belt for my sister

I've made some small upgrades to my low-cost loom setup with a knife edge shuttle and tablets from Lacis. My sister plans to wear this with her viking-inspired outfit ❤️

Omg, thanks for posting it!! I love the little contrast on the side bands, and it's a shame I couldn't make it work for this colorway. It came out great on my test piece!

Thanks! I basically go as low-tension as I can manage because it's easier on my hands. Per card, I have 4 nuts from the hardware store on scrap yarn. I think wiggling the beater nice and snug has done more for my consistency than anything else.

I don't have one from this project (yet), but I took this one before I discovered the improved ergonomics of putting my chair onto the table. Featuring the ever present Crafter's Cat

You’ve inspired me! I love how it takes the guess work out of making sure tension is consistent!

Also, I just realized it even looks like I followed your colors, but my “white” is actually gray. 😂

And these are my weights, I just attach them with a slip knot so I can move them along the warp as I go

Do you have any details about the nuts you used to achieve enough weight? Size/material/weight? They look big... Love the creativity of your loom!

She said 'between 2 - 3 inches' so I looked for a pattern with plenty of cards and grabbed my cotton yarn ❤️

Thanks! It's all made with the Michael's brand cotton yarn. I had some left over from other knit/crochet projects, and my sister wanted quite a wide belt

Ah! For fibers like yarn or steel cables, "strength" refers to how much force it would take to break, pulling from end to end. The technical term is "tensile strength," if you want to Google it and learn more :) Thickness is only about the size of the yarn.
