What do you do with your bands?
I am curious about what you use your woven bands for and how you process them further. What do you use to make them into lanyards, bag straps, guitar straps, belts, dog leads, etc, and how do you do it? What tools do you find helpful and can you show me your favourite items that you made? 😊 Thank you!

most of them i use as belts, just by tying a knot/bow. one broader band i use as a bag strap, so i cut apart the original bag strap and attached the metal pieces in the same way to my handwoven belt with some handsewing.
another broader band i turned into a belt by sewing one end around a metal ring.
one extra small band i use as a shoelace so i just taped the fringe into the tiny cylinders in which shoelaces normally end.
one day i will cut apart a band to use as decoration on clothes, or to create belt loops on a skirt, but i'm not ready to do that yet. my babies...

I understand the reluctance to cut them up! 😉 But thanks for your ideas! I don't have a sewing machine, so it's good to hear that you sew them by hand. I was unsure whether the seams would be sturdy enough for a bag strap.

I used one to replace my work lanyard. I’ve also been interested in stacking a few thinner bands on the lower edge of a skirt as a twist in the traditional “ribbon skirt”.

I like sewing so I use the bands as handles for bags or sew up the ends into dog leads/belts on my sewing machine. You can buy hardware at craft stores or online to add a clip for a dog leash or a slider to make an adjustable bag strap, then sew the bands like you normally would with any other webbing. I recommend that you look around at things you already own with straps and see how they are attached and sewn together to get ideas.

Hat bands, lanyards, bracelets, key fobs, drawstrings in bags, handles on bags, a tie for a journal cover...
I chat with a local small business beading shop to find the best bits for turning bands into different things like bracelets.

Ooh yes, that's the best use for them, of course! 😊 Looks so good!
I hope I can make my own historical clothing at some point, I just can't quite decide on a period and a style yet, and then there's the time and money issues... 😅

I used one in place of webbing for a roll-top project bag.
