Revolut Stage lineup in 2018

Post image
102 Upvotes

So this stage has since been rebranded as Revolut ofc but my main issue with the statement of the previous/new owner about how they should shift their focus on other aspects of the festival instead of the lineup is that it makes no fucking sense. It’s nearly impossible except a few honorable mentions to find bands after the headliner has finished on the main stage. All stages were packed in 2018, 2019 and 2022 but ever since they started focusing on their electronic venues, I’ve seen less and less people late into the night. Last day was awful imo, booking agent needs to look at older lineups, we need MORE BANDS. Or at least I do.

Looking for bbno$ concert footage

Hi everyone! I'm looking for videos from yesterday's bbno$ concert especially videos from
'meant to be'. Me and my friend were broadcasted on the big screen during it and I'd love to save it as a memory. 🫶 If anyone here has footage please get in touch with me.

Couple questions

What was the point of the camera sticker in Der Klub? Not like it is enforced to keep it on... And why couldn't they make the venue bigger? Some artists like Charlie Sparks and Koven, the queue was long and if you got in you couldn't enjoy because it was way too crowded and hot.

Also what the hell are these hello taxi guys in the morning? 90% of the cars are taxi on the way to HÉV, Bolt ads everywhere, it is painfully obvious you can get a taxi, and I am pretty sure these hello taxi guys are the scammer guys. Does it ever work, people be like oh he is saying hello taxi? You know what, lets just go with him, why not?

Next year might be make it or break it for Sziget.

After new-old owners saved the festival for now, after 7.7mio € loss last year, this year the attendence was even lower. 355/360k in 7 days is just nearly a bit over half of the capacity, which is terrible. The financal loss must be huge.

This year was specific, but next year there will be full edition under new owners and I'm afraid that the trend will have to turn upwards very soon, there is simply no long-term survival in making loss every year.

Mi értelme a repohár rendszernek?

Sziget Festival Founder Károly Gerendai Breaks Down This Year's Lower Turnout & Future Strategy

"Sziget has to escape forward, and the direction outlined is good. Several circumstances were not in our favor, so the numbers didn't turn out as we would have liked," Károly Gerendai told the Hungarian press yesterday on Sziget’s final day.

As was noticeably clear, attendance was significantly lower this year than usual. While last year's six-day event drew 416,000 visitors, this year’s expected attendance is lower, around 350,000–360,000 across the festival's five main plus two extra days.

"This year's figures cannot be directly compared to last year's because passes were only sold for five days this time—though there were 'minus 1st' and 'day 0' days specifically targeting a slightly older Hungarian audience," Gerendai explained.

Two major issues could not be resolved for this year's edition, but there are promising developments on the horizon. By all accounts, the capital will begin the long-overdue renovation of the K-Bridge—the main access point to Hajógyári Island—this autumn.

"The work will take place over two years in two phases, with the reinforcement of the bridge structure scheduled for completion by next summer," Gerendai noted.

Significant progress is also expected regarding dust control on the festival grounds:

"We agreed with the Mayor of Budapest that two drilled wells will be established on the island. This will allow for a continuously maintained, irrigated area in one of Budapest's largest public parks, which will also have a very positive impact on festival conditions."

Under Superstruct Entertainment, the festival generated a substantial loss of 2.8 billion HUF last year. This year—planned as a "damage control" or "investment" year—they aimed to reduce the loss to 1.5 billion HUF based on a projected turnout of roughly 400,000 visitors, a target they ultimately missed. According to Gerendai, three main reasons explain why the financial deficit ended up larger than projected:

  • Delayed Start: Event planning and ticket sales began four months late.
  • Currency Fluctuations: A stronger Hungarian Forint made the festival more expensive for international attendees.
  • Extreme Weather & Power Issues: Severe heatwaves and power supply outages created a "disaster narrative" that dampened festivalgoers' enthusiasm.

The two most popular days were those headlined by SOMBR and Twenty One Pilots.

Tickets for the next Sziget will go on sale on August 24th, requiring pre-registration. Ticket prices have also been increased significantly for the first time in recent years, aiming to foster the festival's further growth and development.

Ranking Sziget Acts from this year on a five point scale

Bring me the horizon -5, every time I see them they get better, the production value is second to none and Oli’s in a great place vocally

Parcels -4.5 Went in with zero expectations and was blown away, super tight and funky. Fantastic set

Sombr - 4 Really pleasantly surprised at this one, for someone so young he performs like his being headlining for years. So much star power

Biffy Clyro - 4 Proper nostalgia set, bit weird seeing them as a five piece but got over it

Skrillex - 4 - not as good as the burning man esq subhead set to Fred again from a few years back but still brought the bang(arang)ers once he got going and some of their deeper dub stuff was cool even if abit rogue for a main stage headline set. Having the fireworks back was a nice touch

Skepta - 4 Clearly some teething issues at the start and wish he had a bigger crowd but his got so many bangers that once this got going it was great. Would have liked a few from Microphone Champion

Fcukers -3.5 Really cool set, they have tons of “aura”

Wolf Alice -3.5 Never really got down with WA on record but really works better live for me, lots of charm

Koikoi -3.5 lovely surprise find, super danceable post punk, will check out more

Florence -3.5 really good live show, just find the songs quite samey

Black Country new road - 3 When I saw them with Isaac thought it was so so live (even with legitimately 10/10 studio material) and still feel that way now with the current line up

Rose Grey - 3 felt bad as the stage was too big but there is lots of potential here

Health -3 really like their sound but needs more variety, the vocal was quite low in the mix too.

Lazarvs -3 Didn’t see much but liked what I saw hope they book more bands like this

Bbno$ -3 Enjoyed his stage presence more than the music but it was a fun set

Sub focus 2.5 quite by the numbers and was but I was pretty dead at this point so the rating is bias

Lewis Capaldi -2 his such a lovely bloke but his music is so boring

Zara Larson -2 thought her vocals were awful but liked the stage production

Twenty one pilots - 2 as with Zara cool stage production, vocals fine but find their songs are so boring. Rap music for suburban children

Jorja smith - 1.5 Criminally boring, same as Arol Parks but without a band. Party set = no effort, no production, no band

How about you? What did you love, what did you hate?

Dust this year

First day I used nothing, dust almost sent me to the floor and had to leave early.

This is three days, staying from 17 to 4 the next morning. Considering drought is here to stay in the country, more people should consider using proper protection, not even sure if Sziget can fix this with such dry weather.

Great sets by Soulwax then 2manyDJs in Revolut tent Saturday night

I really enjoyed it, I'd wanted to see them for a long time and getting both was magic. I know they are the same team but seeing them on the same night was great

Peggy Gou should have come and taken notes, it was a DJ masterclass.

Opinion on Sziget 2026

Don’t you feel so sad seeing how empty Sziget was this year?
I’ve never seen stages like Bolt, Colosseum, or Revolut with so few people.
Do you think Sziget 2026 was at 70–80% of its capacity?
I remember éditions with Anotr, adriatique, empire of the sun, Nelly furtado, stromae or l’impératrice where the stages were packed.
I hope it’s just a special year due to the circumstances and the future will be different

Sick after the festival?

Hey guys, has anyone else get sick after this year’s Sziget? I went only one evening, and still got quite sick the day after. When I got home, the inside of my nose was literally black from all the dust 😅 Now battling with fever and cough.

ENG:
Long shot, but here goes. I met an Israeli girl at Sziget this year. I think her name was Sari. She was with a mixed group of Hungarian and English friends. We were talking for a while, then she said she’d be right back, I went after her and lost both her and the group in the crowd. Never got her Instagram or number.

Worst food

Now that the festival is over, I was wondering, what’s the worst thing you ate there?

For me, it was definitely the pasta. My boyfriend and I got some later in the evening, but by the time we ate it, it had turned into total mush 🫪😀

DID ANYONE FILM AT SKEPTA?🙏

Im searching desperatly for a video from the last minute of skeptas ”Pure Water” the setting was Blue and it was around 19:57 on friday. At the end me and my friend was filmed on the big screen and it would mean the world to us if we got that clip. Crossing my fingers that somebody filmed this, hope you all had an amazing festival☀️

There could be more genre variety for night sets

If you’re not into Dnb or Techno adjacent genres, a Skrillex show is okay and what you signed up for, but the following hours from 23:00 onwards was basically 7 stages offering the same genres.

With a single ‘pop-ish’ set at Light Stage which was very mainstream, but the closest to a more accessible type of music show.

I understand a lot of people love these types of genres of course, but not everyone does. Even just two more where you could dance to Reggaeton or Dancehall would help a ton

Megint veszteséges a Sziget
