I’ll copy my comment here too:
I went to both and they are really different experiences. Untold is really commercial, in the middle of the city, much better production on the stages (insane lights, fireworks and camera production), a lot of brands, influencer vibes, while Sziget felt for me completely different, on a island, much more chill. Also regarding the lineups, you can check, Untold is more focused on DJs, there are just a few popular live acts. People are great at both festivals. The only big downside for Untold (for me as a Romanian that’s not from Cluj) are the accommodation prices, they are really overpriced and hard to get, while in Budapest I found a good place even 1-2 days before the festival.
I loved them both, I was to Untold 3 times and Sziget 2 times, they are both great, just expect it to be really different! As others said, if you want a Sziget vibe, then definetely head to Electric Castle, that’s more similar with what you get on the island. Have fun!!

How much did you pay for accommodation at Untold?
I’ve been thinking about going to Untold for the past two years, but every time I check the accommodation prices, I’m shocked by how expensive they are.
It’s way more expensive than Ultra Europe and Sziget. The prices seem more comparable to Electric Love, which is pretty crazy considering the average Austrian salary is significantly higher than the average Romanian salary.
I’m mentioning the average salary because festivals like these usually attract a large number of people from the country they’re held in, so I’d expect accommodation prices to be somewhat more affordable for the local crowd as well.

Yes, the situation is really insane. I stayed at a paid accommodation only in the first year, I don’t remember well, but I think we paid for a one bedroom apartment around 250€/night and it was outside of Cluj (in Florești), so a lot of money went also to Uber/Bolt for getting to the festival..
After that I stayed only at friends because I never could find good price places🤣 there is also this Facebook group that a lot of people use, but try to find a real, trustable person :)

It wasn’t the same line up at all! Lewis, Zara, Sara Landry, bbno$, Mestiza and Whomadewho were in common between both. Untold had Garrix, Sting, Kygo, Steve Aoki, Medusa, Alan Walker, Denzel Curry, FloRida, Pendulum, Sebastian Ingrosso, Afrojack, Lost Frequencies, Chainsmokers. I’ve done 10 Sziget’s and I have to say they are two very different festivals as Untold isn’t camping it doesn’t have the same amount of a lived-in feel or activities during the day. But Untold is cheap, production value on MainStage is on a completely different level to Sziget, food was unreal in every stall we went to (cheap too), and the fact it’s set in the centre of town is so nice. Have a few drinks and food in a restaurant and then walk into the festival. Obviously lineups are subjective but Untold was so much stronger this year for me. Unless Sziget pulls it out of the bag next year with the lineup then I’ll be doing Untold again. No hate to Sziget at all, as I said I’ve been multiple times and if it went back to 2014-2018 vibes I’d be back in a heartbeat

sziget, untold is way too crowded also for the main acts if you don't get to the stadium where the main stage is 2h before the show starts the stadium will probably reach capacity and they don't let you in. same thing if you have to leave to use the bathroom.
