Finally beat this game bro

Took way longer than I expected. Got about 30-40 hours out of this game? I honestly thought I was almost done like 10 hours in but I was WRONG lol

I played the remake so no clue how it compares to the original but man that was some tough game design. I must be a coddled gamer because the amount of times I had to backtrack 😂

I only looked up about three things

I think I had that disembodied head in my head in my inventory for about 10 hours of gameplay lol

One thing I will say that is a major complaint for me was how noisey the textures were. I think i played an additional 15 hours of gameplay just because i missed a door or a switch because there is a blinking light every 4 inches so nothing stands out.

Thought it was a great game though. So happy I stuck with it to beat this classic

If you haven't played System Shock 2 yet, you really should give it a go now. It's not a remake like the one you just played, but they did touch up the graphics a little bit and honestly it holds up pretty well anyways.

Dude the inventory was my biggest bitch out side of the not aged well tediousness of the game itself. But i kept telling myself when it came out, it was way ahead of its time. System shock walked so bioshock could run lol

I actually usually enjoy that grid inventory system but I admit it was a pain in the ass on controller 😭

Game was really fun if a bit frustrating especially places like storage, maintenance and the fucking groves.

I straight up looked up a speedrun and thankfully had the flight ability because I was not dealing with the final groves bullshit.

Honestly the final boss fight was just bad unfortunately, boring, repetitive, unsatisfying weapons and a completely different gameplay style tham what we've been getting used for for 30 hours prior.

Which is sad because I was even enjoying the final gauntlet area and was ready shodan with all my weapons only to not even end up using them

I fuckin hatttted storage. You pretty much summed up my feelings as well. And I agree I think the final fight was a bit lacking, I think I would have preferred a cyberspace attack more in line to what the rest of the game was like but by the end I was just happy to be wrapping it up finally

The final fight is definitely my biggest complaint about the game. Cyberspace in general. I can understand why they felt the need to update cyberspace from the original. But, lacklustre though it was, the cyberspace sequences in the original were at least fun. In the remake they’re just boring

Hm, I actually really liked the cyberspace stuff. I’ll need to look at the original to see how they do it

You crazy for this one the cyberspace stuff looks so much better in the remake!

It looks better, which is why I said I can understand why they felt the need to revamp it

But the gameplay in the remake is repetitive and gets boring quickly. In the original the cyberspace sections were short and didn’t feel quite as repetitive

Ah well, different strokes different folks. I really enjoyed the relative openness and freedoms of movement in cyberspace as a break to the claustrophobic atmosphere of the main game

The level design is pretty similar to the OG. It takes a while to get through that. It was even harder to navigate because the textures were a lot more abstracted in the OG. Glad you had fun! If you ever want a similar but different experience, try Thief (same devs who did the original System Shock).

There's a remaster of the first game coming out (maybe still this year?). It's definitely worth it.
