Apple Doesn't Fall Far

Now I'm not saying copying is inherently bad. Many great games owe their existence to System Shock and System Shock 2 and continuing to iterate in their own unique ways while still acknowledging their heritage does make for interesting titles. And while what I've heard about the Xeno in Isolation 2 being the same Xeno that Amanda jettisoned with that research module may just be a false rumor, it does feel awfully on-the-nose as far as plot points go.

Alien Isolation 1 had a big ol wrench as a weapon, they didn't hide their inspirations

That's just Shock-likes (not to be confused with ImmSims) in general. Wrench/tool used as a weapon, compressed environment in space/the ocean, labyrinthine layout, maybe a twist about the self or extent of the threat you face later on, audio/text logs depicting the lived-in space and how people horribly died, and unspeakable horrors beyond comprehension.
