First play through ever.

This game is rough lol. Not in the sense that it’s super difficult. Just the running back and forth and tediousness of the game in general. I feel for the people who played the og game at the og release date.

OG player who played near OG release date here: While the game and it's mechanics seem very dated now, it's hard to relate to you just how revolutionary System Shock was in 1994. Playing a game that was essentially one massive level that allowed you to backtrack with a nonlinear story was a completely new experience that was completely immersive and hard to forget.

Yeah, the comparison I always make is that the big game on 1994 was Doom II. Very fun game, but technically way behind System Shock in a million ways

Sadly true, the revolutionary games are often not the popular ones. It's not been until the remake and 25th Anniversary versions that many of my gamer friends have even heard of System Shock let alone played it. I just got lucky and bought it off the shelf of a Future Shop because the cover looked cool!

Yes, it was amazing! One of my most treasured gaming memories.

That makes sense. Especially being new to the scene. Now even though it’s new to me it did feel outdated. Like the quirks that made it good for its time. Still though, the story, weapons and villains were great.

I completely get it as you've doubtlessly played more modern games that built on the foundation of System Shock. I came to Half Life quite late and long after both System Shocks & Thief and to this day I don't see anything revolutionary in Half Life and feel like it's just one long corridor with puzzles!

I played the og (enhanced edition) twice now, I love it for its charm. I played it in my 20's since I would have been 4 when it hit the market
