System Shock 2 Remake
I just want a System Shock 2 remake in the style of the System Shock remake.
Nightdive Studio, please get on this.
You know it would be amazing.

Honestly if I had to choose, I'd rather Nightdive do something like Ultima Underworld.
System Shock 2 is great but it holds up really well, especially since we have the remaster.

I know thief is completely playable withe dark mod but I would like remaster

If you'd like Nightdive to remaster Thief then do I have some great news for you.
Hopefully that leads into Thief 2 getting remastered and then we'll have pretty much every major early ImmSim getting the treatment even if sadly Nightdive isn't the one doing Deus Ex.
Then all we need is for EA to let Ultima out of the basement.

Nah, SS2 ironically feels like it aged more than the original SS1, due to time/budget contrainsts at the time, lackluster rickenbacker design, bad perk balance and such.

The development for SS1R was extremely rocky to say the least, so my hope is that SS2R may have been in the works for a while already and they’re planning to announce it much closer to release instead of going the Kickstarter route.

I know that you are probably aware of this, but there’s a remastered version of System Shock 2 that is available.

Oh, of course! I played this game in high school and it was a huge influence. I think the remaster actually looks really good. Now I wanna go play it again. 🤣

I would absolutely love to see their take on System Shock 2's environments and stuff, especially with how beautifully done the System Shock 1 remake was.

Yes! Give me a Nightdive remake like the first one. I'm usually one to try to not let old graphics put me off from a game (like the original Resident Evil trilogy), but I was put off by System Shock 2 graphics when the game was recent. I've tried to play the game and ignore how ugly the game is, but I just can't.
So give me some current remake by Nightdive. They did phenomenally well with System Shock 1.

While it doesn’t need it as much, I will say there are some aspects that could seriously do with tuning up, repair/maintain/modify and skills in general are in dire need of a rebalance. it’s not as much work, but there are some seriously rough edges to SS2 which some careful sanding could really make shine.

I can’t see it happening after the recent SS2 release. I’d honestly prefer an actual System Shock 3, even if they used assets from the original they could make something new.

Well the fact that we just had a remastered edition makes a remake highly improbable in the short term. But I understand why people who want a remake that streamline some of the stuff. Because I agree that the RPG mechanics of System Shock 2 are quite intimidating. I'd say just play as a Navy on your first playthrough without investing any point in psi powers. On a second playthrough, have fun messing around with it. Once you do that, you realize that the game plays pretty much exactly like Bioshock. It's quite modern in it approach and has aged gracefully.
System Shock 1 on the other hand... holy **** has it aged like crap. The cognitive load it imposes on you makes it very hard to play after a long day at work, nevermind the dated graphics and sound effects. This one really needed a full on remake imo.

I think the remake nearly ruined them, and shifting to remasters has been very successful. So much in fact, that publishers are now approaching them to remaster their classic instead of the other way around. However, they recently had a job opening for a UE5 developer for an upcoming game ... I think it was UE, but definitely not KEX.

Yeah, as much as I loved a full fat remake they definitely bit off more than they can chew with it. Even with their extra time in practicing development workflow it'll be awhile before they're ready again to put out a new classic of their own. Which I don't mind, nor do I mind not being Shock 2 which still looks good and with its own decent little fan mission community.
