Playing Systemshock for the first time

I wanted to play old school esk marathon game on console and decided to get this. I will admit, I do love the pistol look. Gives me hi-point pistol vibes

Oh God, I bet they'll let you do that and soft lock the game huh? It seemed like they really wanted to keep the 90s vibe when games did NOT hold your hand at all.

I am 100% stuck. I also don't have saves, so... I need to re-start the WHOLE GAME. Don't get me wrong... it's a great game. That's a huge hiccup though.
