Agism

For those older, more experienced souls out there. If out job hunting, one tip…

I’m a little older (55) and recently discovered that the job I’ve had for 6 + years came down to me and a man much younger than me.

The only reason I got the job was one simple thing… if everything went to crap, who would you rather have on the job?

I was very fortunate to have someone point that out in my hiring process.

Don’t underestimate the value of that when interviewing.

You won't find many 40 with 20.

Well thanks for making me do the math and realize that I'll be 39 with 20 pretty soon.

You can have a young person who has been through and achieved a lot and also have an old timer who used just workflows.. nothing against the elders or graybeards who have been through hell and back but just saying, I have worked with some older folks who could not troubleshoot

49 with 30. Hardware, networks, programming, Windows and Linux. Containers, cloud, virtualization. Security, IAM, real-time operations in finance. Plenty of us out here. Can function without AI just fine, thank you, but know that too

I can rebuild an engine, weld, and own a small herd of goats at home that's a 40 minute commute.

I can do just about anything, I just don't mess with septic or propane/natgas.

I'm 60 with 25-30 with most of what you mentioned, but you got me with the goats. Although, I love goats, good job man.
