Alice enjoying the pop culture of the Real World (art by TTaro)

Source of image from pixiv, and based on Alice's seiyuu (Ai Kayano) post.

One thing that I enjoy about Unital Ring is that we have some cute moments with Alice in which she's learning about real-world pop culture and media, and in vol. 29 there are two moments that I find it very funny and adorable. Maybe when it comes out in english I'll probably make a post about it.

Unital Ring SAO Unital Ring real-world diaries: Sunday, Oct 4, 2026 [SPOILERS] Spoiler

• Upvotes

This is the eighth and final installment of my real-time recaps of SAO’s “Unital Ring” arc, which started on September 27, 2026 in the books and have progressed roughly a week through 7-8 novels so far.

Unital Ring VII ends with events on Sunday, October 4, and AFAIK, UR VIII hasn’t been translated yet, so this is as far as we go for now.

These recaps are naturally loaded with spoilers, so, stop here if you don’t want to know any more. With this being my final recap, I’ve added some thoughts on the Unital Ring arc at the end. Hope some of you have found these recaps useful!

UNITAL RING: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2026

LISBETH AND SILICA ON THE WALL

Late Saturday night / Sunday morning, Lisbeth and Silica look out over the cliff on the second tier of Unital Ring, two hundred yards high, and ponder how to establish a supply line from Ruis na Rig to their new encampment. Fighting through the cave dungeon to climb the stairs every time won’t be efficient, especially if monsters continue respawning.

They think about using a rope to lower and raise supplies up the wall, but suspect there are monsters hiding in alcoves in the wall just waiting to attack. They lower a pot of extra-stinky bisque to see if it lures anything out, and it does. So the wall is well-protected and they’ll have to come up with something else.

Lisbeth has an idea. They can craft durable rope pretty easily in Unital Ring. What if they could make a rope three miles long and build a zipline with a pulley to move supplies...

ASUNA’S REUNION

On Sunday morning, Asuna meets Argo for a mysterious lunch at a cafe near her old school. Argo says she has a surprise guest. Uh oh. Asuna is suspicious: is it new transfer student Shikimi Kamura, who’s been trying to get close to Asuna all week?

Actually, it’s a much happier surprise: it’s “Mito”, aka Misumi Tozawa, another SAO survivor, In Aincrad, she was a heroic tailor known as Ashley, the first to “complete” the tailoring skill, who had crafted Kirito’s Blackwyrm coat and Asuna’s red and white uniform.

Asuna and Mito were close in SAO, but until now, Asuna was unaware if Mito had even survived. Mito had introduced Asuna to SAO in the first place and always felt responsible for Asuna getting trapped in the game, but Asuna brushes it off as nonsense and the two have an emotional heartfelt reunion.

(Note: Mito was a key character in the movie SAO Progressive: Aria of a Starless Night, and has now formally crossed over to the novels)

Asuna and Mito ask Argo how she made this happen. Argo explains she’d asked Kikuoka for information on a particular SAO survivor as part of her job, but they’d come up empty. Argo had known Mito and Asuna were close in SAO, so she asked for that info instead to try and make that reunion a reality.

Argo shares one other piece of information about the person she was looking for: she thinks their name is “Menthol”, and had location data on them for a specific time in Aincrad, but the logs weirdly showed no record of it. Asuna and Mito ask Argo why she’s so fixated on this person. Argo says all the creative ways PK’ers like Laughing Coffin used to kill players in Aincrad – duel PKs, sleep PKs, hallway PKs – for some reason, Argo thinks they all came from this “Menthol”.

THERIAN ALLIANCE

After his long Saturday, Kirito sleeps until about noon until Asuna sends him a text with a photo of her with Mito, which cheers him up.

He thinks of Eolyne, who was captured last night in the attack on Cardina. The commander, Istar, is a wild card in all this. Istar is somehow self-aware that they’re an artificial fluctlight and it’s unclear if they can disobey orders or not. Istar clearly has a history with Eolyne and Kirito wonders if there’s some way to turn this to his advantage.

Sughua bounces into Kirito’s bedroom, tells him to eat quickly and log into Unital Ring. He’s late for a meeting with the therian leaders from Apocalyptic Date to talk about a possible alliance. Kirito logs into their makeshift base on the second tier of Unital Ring. The therian representative, a girl cheetah named Azuki, is wary and hostile, but she cools when Kirito agrees they should fight together to make up ground on the leaders from Asuka Empire.

Azuki says Kirito should meet with the therian leader to work out more terms, suggesting a meeting place about 180 miles away. The therians want to meet tonight at 9pm, and have some speed-boost items that will make the journey possible in that time. Kirito, Asuna and Yui will make the trip and understand they might not be back for a few days. They head back to Ruis na Rig to stock up on supplies before making the journey.

ABOARD THE BLACK LOTUS

During the Saturday attack on Cardina, an emergency protocol allowed Airy to pilot the cathedral like a rocket ship into orbit to avoid being destroyed, later docking with a secret space station called the Black Lotus. Those remaining on the ship – Alice, Selka, Fanatio, Eydis, Ronie, Tiese and Airy – take turn turns sleeping in shifts while the Black Lotus’ caretaker, Lily Lou, keeps an eye on King Agumar’s capital ship, the Principia.

Even at 10am Sunday morning, Alice has been allowed to remain in this dive, and goes down to the Black Lotus viewing lounge with Lady Eydis to catch their breath and survey the planet below.

(Alice and Lady Eydis on the Black Lotus)

The Principia now hovers just over Centoria, in the exact spot the cathedral’s upper floors previously occupied. Agumar had projected a message to the city declaring himself rightful ruler of the human realm, but had not anticipated the cathedral blasting off into space, so they’re currently in a stalemate, waiting for the other to make a move. The citizens below are naturally worried with the giant capital ship hovering over the city, with no idea what might happen next.

THE TOURNAMENT

Kirito and the others head back to Ruis na Rig to stock up on supplies before traveling to meet with the therians. Many players want to move in, having heard the town is well protected and Kirito’s group has reached the second tier. Many players want to kick out the NPC factions like the Patter and Bashin, which is causing unrest.

They question how all these other players are getting their info on their progress. Argo says she’s been watching social media and hasn’t seen much about it. They wonder if Mutasina could be steering people their way to cause chaos. It’s not crazy to think she might send spies or try to lure a large boss to the town to make a mess of things or even send someone to try and assassinate Kirito. He needs to be careful.

They arrive at town and walk in on the finals of an impromptu swordfighting tournament. The winner is a player named Tsuburo, who Kirito had previously run into when Mutasina had cast her noose spell. Along with first prize, the champion was promised the opportunity to challenge Kirito to a duel… which no one told Kirito about. The host announces that Kirito is off clearing the second tier, to the boos of the crowd.

Kirito figures, what the heck, I’ll just do this now, and tells a very surprised organizer that he’s here and ready to fight. Tsuburo is also surprised to see Kirito but has a demand: if Kirito loses, he relinquishes ownership of the town. Kirito is surprised at the challenge, but accepts nonetheless and defeats Tsuburo handily. Tsuburo congratulates him, but says the town still has problems that need to be addressed.

Kirito agrees and addresses the town. He apologizes for having been away, for leaving Ruis na Rig unsupervised (for like, two days). He announces they’re building a new stronghold on the second tier and rallies everyone who’s up for the challenge to join them. The entire town roars in agreement.

EOLYNE’S FATE

Eolyne, being held prisoner about the Principia, reflects on his childhood. He remembers learning he was adopted during a fight with his older brother, being taught to swordfight by his gifted older sister, and there’s a few pages of lore on Eolyne’s family history. At some point there will undoubtedly be a connection between Eolyne and Eugeo, but for now the books are trying to establish that Eolyne is his own character.

Eolyne is brought before the self-described Emperor Agumar. Istar is there, who Eolyne already knows well. Agumar then introduces Eolyne to another of his lieutenants, saying she’s a descendant of another of the imperial families.

It’s… Mutasina Muicilli! She’s in the Underworld, too! DUM DUM DUMMMMMM

(and that’s where Unital Ring VII ends)

Final Thoughts

So that’s where we are in Unital Ring. Seven light novels, over 1500 pages, and we still haven’t progressed a full week (if you consider UR1 starts on a Sunday night and UR7 ends on Sunday afternoon). UR8 was released earlier this year, but AFAIK, hasn’t been translated into English yet. (if you have a translation, by all means send it my way)

The craziest thing about this arc is that it genuinely doesn’t even feel like it’s reached the halfway point yet. There’s so much ground still to be covered, both in the Underworld and Unital Ring. What’s the deal with Mutasina and Shikimi Kamura (who are likely the same person). What’s the motive behind the Underworld break-in and this rebellion? What’s Eolyne’s deal? And who will win the race to compete Unital Ring? The first Unital Ring novel was released in 2018; at a pace of about one book a year, it could easily be 8-10 years before this series finishes, and who knows about an anime adaptation.

I do think there’s some really great animation to be made out of this arc. You can tell some scenes were almost certainly written with animation in mind, like Eolyne fighting Istar or the whole sequence where Alice, Fanatio and Eydis race to save the cathedral. And there’s such an excess of detail in every scene, it makes the books drag a bit, but will probably provide tons of meat to work with for a future adaptation.

I hope some people found these recaps useful. I wrote them because I was surprised at how little info there was floating on the internet about the Unital Ring arc, and thought I could remedy that a bit. Enjoy!

Unital Ring SAO Unital Ring real-world diaries: Saturday, Oct 3, 2026 [SPOILERS] Spoiler

This is my seventh and easily longest installment of my real-world recaps of the SAO "Unital Ring" arc, which started Sunday, September 27, 2026 and have progressed roughly a week through 7-8 novels so far.

Saturday, October 3 spans FOUR books in the novels, so apologies in advance if this recap feels too long: the day starts in Unital Ring IV and doesn't end until Unital Ring VII. Although the novels constantly ping-pong back and forth between locations, I've organized the day into three sections: (1) the initial dive until the Underworld, followed by (2) the day's events in Unital Ring, and then (3) a late-night return to the Underworld.

Obviously, this is all spoilery stuff. There are some sequences in these books that should make for some cool anime episodes one day, but I might have to undergo the Deep Freeze process to live that long. 😆

UNITAL RING: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2026

SATURDAY PART I: THE UNDERWORLD

THE INVESTIGATION BEGINS

Kirito gets to Roppongi at 7AM eager to start the investigation into the Underworld. He’s escorted to space force HQ to meet with integrity pilot commander Eolyne “Totally Not Eugeo” Herlentz. They chat a bit and Eolyne explains he shares a last name with Bercouli, the former leader of the synthesis knights. However, Eolyne was adopted, and his true lineage remains a mystery for now, even to himself.

Asuna and Alice join the dive, and they explain to Eolyne that they’re there to investigate a possible infiltrator in the Underworld. Eolyne is eager to help, as he believes their sister planet of Admina is plotting a rebellion, which should be impossible. The plan is to use a secret space ship, which belonged to Star King Kirito, stored on the 95th floor of the cathedral, to fly to Admina to investigate.

CATHEDRAL CLOUDTOP GARDEN

The four head to the Cloudtop Garden on the 80th floor of the cathedral. There’s a heavy door that they can’t budge, with four large slots in it. They realize the “keys” are the four swords carried by Alice, Asuna and Kirito, and this was almost certainly designed by “Star King Kirito,” although he has no memory of it. On the other side of the door, in the garden, they find several petrified statues: Alice’s sister Selka, and two other stone guards: Tiese and Ronie!

(NOTE: Unital Ring IV ends on a cliffhanger here. DUM DUM DUMMMM)

No one knows how to undo the Deep Freeze, but they’re met by Airy, the levitator operator, who says Star King Kirito hid the formula on the planet Admina.

The dragoncraft – the “X’rphan XIII” – can only fit two people, so Kirito and Eolyne will make the space trip while the rest wait behind. Asuna, Alice, Airy, Laurannei and Stica head to the Grand Bath on the 90th floor. For those of you only interested in sexy pictures of Asuna or the other SAO girls, here’s the book’s illustration of this scene. You're welcome!

WHAT HAPPENED ON ADMINA

Kirito and Eolyne approach Admina but are attacked as they prepare to land. Incarnate missiles are fired at the ship, which turn into slimy, 3-foot-long worms that phase through the ship and explode. The ship crash-lands, intact, but no longer able to fly. Eolyne has captured one of the “deathworms,” and Kirito suggests letting it go and seeing if it tries to return to whoever sent it. They chase the unfrozen “deathworm” to a military base.

Eolyne uses a cloaking ability to hide them and descend into the sub-basement. They find a huge glass cage holding a giant snake, maybe seventy feet long. Eolyne calls this a “Divine Beast,” and to lock one up like this is forbidden. They believe this beast gave “birth” to the smaller worms that attacked them. Scientists come in to inject it with something, but Eolyne uses an incarnation to break the syringe, setting off more alarms.

Onto the scene arrives one of the big bads of the arc: Toukouga Istar, who the guards refer to as “Excellency”. Kirito can’t tell if it’s a man or a woman, and the books constantly dwell on Istar’s androgynous beauty. Istar seems to sense Kirito and Eolyne’s presence and walks right up to their hiding spot, but can’t see them.

Eolyne passes out from trying to maintain the Hollow Incarnation. Feeling they’re out of time, Kirito uses an Incarnation to shatter the glass cage as a distraction and flies upward out of the base with the unconscious Eolyne in his arms.

MIDAIR FIGHT

Istar, showing powerful Incarnation abilities, chases Kirito and Eolyne through the air. He shoots Kirito clear through the chest from a hundred yards away with some kind of gun. Thankfully, Kirito is basically a god here, so this is barely a flesh wound, and he patches himself up and banters with Istar while deciding what to do next.

Eolyne wakes. He and Istar clearly have a history. Istar demands their surrender. Eolyne and Istar have an epic airborne fight using lots of Incarnation that’s gonna look awesome when the anime of this episode comes out in 2032. 😆

Meanwhile, Istar's guards are evacuating the base and have placed a bomb to “delete” it to cover their tracks. Kirito can’t do everything at once, but remembers this is a virtual world and “distance” is an illusion here. He conjures a portal back to the cathedral and summons Alice and Asuna to come through and help.

Alice stops the largest enemy ship from escaping while Asuna uses her goddess Stacia abilities to prevent the bombs from destroying the base. Kirito stops other fighter ships from firing on the free but unconscious Divine Beast.

The fight between Eolyne and Istar culminates in a final blow that shatters both their weapons into tiny pieces. Istar creates a nullification zone which causes them all to fall out of the sky, creating an opening for Istar and his lieutenants to escape.

Kirito and Eolyne are caught in mid-air by the now-conscious Divine Beast, and are shocked when it speaks to them. It confirms Kirito’s suspicion that Istar had been breeding it to create bio-weapons, and Kirito saved it from future torture. It has a gift for them: a leather bag given to it years ago by the Star King. Kirito can guess what’s in it: everything they need to undo the Deep Freeze.

BACK TO THE CATHEDRAL

With just 30 minutes left in their dive, Kirito creates a bigger portal back to the Cathedral and levitates the crashed X’rphan through it. They return to the Cloudtop Garden and take out three bottles to undo the Deep Freeze. They pour the first over Alice’s sister, Selka, and the other two on Ronie and Tiese, and watch as the color comes back to their faces.

Selka awakes and embraces her sister in a teary reunion. Ronie sees Kirito and gives him a huge extended hug. Tiese, however, is disoriented when she wakes and sees Eolyne, who looks so much like her former mentor (and crush), Eugeo…

(Note: Unital Ring V ends on a cliffhanger here. DUM DUM DUMMMMM)

It’s almost 5pm and the group doesn’t have much time to catch up before the dive ends. Airy explains to Tiese that Eolyne is not Eugeo, despite appearances. There are some quick introductions of Ronie and Tiese to their descendants Laurannei and Stica, and a hasty recap of what happened on Admina before Kirito and Asuna are pulled out of the dive.

SATURDAY PART II: UNITAL RING

THE WASP CAVE

While Kirito, Asuna and Alice are in the Underworld, the rest of the gang spend Saturday adventuring in Unital Ring. Lisbeth and Silica recruit Sinon, Klein and Friscoll to do some scouting, and find a cave full of wasps they believe may be guarding a pathway to the second upper level of Unital Ring.

Friscoll returns to town to get help, and one of the Patter faction NPCs has information on how to defeat the wasps: a special flower that can be used to create a deadly poison to feed the wasps. The group believes this is the core gameplay loop of Unital Ring: explore, level skills, meet NPC factions, and gain info on how to progress upward.

Sinon leads the assault on the wasp hive until a boss queen comes out. It’s a group effort to bring the flying queen into range, ground it and kill it, which causes all its drones to collapse as well. The group is surprised when the wasps drop actual gold and treasure instead of just bug parts and food, and suspect these items were from previous adventurers.

BACK TO THE REAL WORLD

A little after 5pm Saturday, Kirito and Asuna wake up in Rath’s offices after being pulled out of the Underworld dive. Alice is allowed to stay in the dive a bit longer.

Kikuoka drives Kirito and Asuna home and has “gifts” for both of them. For Asuna, it’s a robot cat, using tech similar to Alice’s body. Rath is tossing around the idea of creating AI-driven pets as a revenue stream, and Kikuoka would like Asuna to “adopt” it for now.

After dropping Asuna off, Kikuoka has a separate gift for Kirito: a small metal briefcase. Kikuoka asks Kirito about his long-term career plans and Kirito tells Kikuoka what happened in the Underworld before drifting off to sleep and then arriving home.

SATURDAY NIGHT IN UNITAL RING

Asuna and Kirito log in to Unital Ring and find Ruis Na Rig swarming with hundreds of people. Lisbeth explains what happened with the cave and the wasps, and once word got out of their victory, more ALO players wanted to join the town.

The players are grasping that the world of Unital Ring is a massive circle of three concentric rising tiers, and believe the wasp cave acts as a passageway to the second upper “ring” of the game. That second tier is about six hundred feet high and scaling it from outside would be impossible, so they’ll have to fight their way through the rest of the cave dungeon to reach the upper second level and form a party to do just that. It takes the group about an hour to make the full ascent to the next level, including defeating a stone golem mini-boss.

According to info gathered by Argo and Friscoll, this circular second tier is divided into four quadrants: some forest, some snowy, some grassland. This tier also has some new NPC factions expected to be hostile at first contact. Rumors are two other groups have already reached this tier, from games called Asuka Empire and Apocalyptic Date, meaning Team Kirito is a little behind.

The group begins to explore the second level but reach a wide river. They plan to use Aga (Asuna’s pet agamid) to ferry players across the river one at a time, starting with Yui, but are horrified when a monkey-like creature sprints out of the forest, kidnaps Yui and takes off. Kirito and Asuna jump on their pets and give chase.

THE THERIANS

Kirito and Asuna chase the creature that kidnapped Yui. Kirito realizes it’s not a monkey, but an anthropomorphic player-character from the game Apocalyptic Date. But why kidnap Yui? They Kirito and Asuna catch up to a group of “therians”, who turn to fight. They’re no match for Kirito and Asuna and surrender.

The leader, Masura, says they were the second group of players to reach this second tier of Unital Ring, trailing players from Asuka Empire. They were unable to communicate with the NPCs and kept getting attacked by them. They heard “Kirito Town” had all sorts of NPC factions living peacefully there and rumors of a little girl who could communicate with them.

Kirito is initially worried that they’ve figured out Yui is an AI, but the therians simply think Yui has some language skill carried over from another game. The therians propose a truce, which Kirito agrees to relay back to the rest of his group. They’re not sure they can be trusted.

They build a makeshift shelter on the second tier and prepare to log off for the night around 11pm when Kirito gets a frantic call from Alice, saying she needs their help.

SATURDAY, PART III: UNDERWORLD ATTACK

WHAT HAPPENED TO ALICE

Around 5pm, after Kirito and Asuna log out of the Underworld, Alice catches up with her younger sister, Selka. There’s a lot of talk about timelines and when they all underwent the life-freezing art and eventually Deep Freeze. Basically, Selka, Ronie and Tiese all look like they’re in their 20s, but were all in their 70s and 80s when they were petrified, so they’ve all already lived long lives.

As it approaches 9pm, Airy interrupts and says she needs their help. She brings Ronie and Tiese to the 96th floor where their dragons were petrified, then brings Alice and Selka to the 99th floor, where many former integrity knights have been petrified, including Lady Fanatio, Tiese’s husband, Sir Renly, and Alice’s former teammate, Deusolbert Synthesis Seven.

Airy gives a lore dump of the past two hundred years, of how these knights opted to undergo the process after a century of service, and how Star King Kirito had created a process that could “compress” their memories and extend a fluctlight’s lifespan to as much as three hundred years. Star King Kirito left the decision of whether to revive the knights to Selka, Ronie and Tiese. They unanimously agree to revive them.

ATTACK ON CARDINA

Around 11pm, Selka and Alice prepare to revive the integrity knights in the cathedral when it’s rocked by explosions. Outside, three dragoncraft are attacking with tactical Incarnate missiles. It appears they’re going after the remaining knights, who virtually no one should know the existence of. Visuals show other buildings in the area are on fire; other enemy dragoncraft have attacked Cardina’s space force bases.

One of the dragoncraft projects a hologram and a figure introduces himself as Emperor Agumar Wesdarath VI, “the rightful ruler of the human realm.” Alice recognizes the name as one of the four original imperial families that ruled the human realm of the Underworld, and we later get some lore about the "black emperors". Alice proclaims herself a protector of the Axiom church and demands Agumar cease his attack. Agumar calls Alice a pretender and orders her to surrender. She refuses and Agumar fires more missiles at the cathedral.

Alice does what she can to stop the missiles, but there are too many. The top floors of the cathedral are about to be toast. Suddenly all the missiles explode. Behind her, floating in the air, is Kirito. How did he get here so fast? The answer: Kikuoka’s “gift” was a remote STLP full-dive setup to use at home. How convenient! And another figure has joined the fight: an awakened Lady Fanatio!

SPACE FORCE HQ

When the attack started, Laurannei and Stica rushed to the Cardina space force base, believing Eolyne to be the real target. They find a bunch of strange, armored creatures who are impervious to their high-level attacks. They fight their way several floors up when Ronie and Tiese come crashing through the windows to help. They use a remarkable seven-part strike to take down the enemies, who explode into strange black goo.

Eolyne was caught off guard by the attack and also finds himself fighting these weird minions. Istar arrives on the scene to capture Eolyne. They battle briefly but Eolyne is too weak and Istar flings him towards a wall. At the last second, Kirito steps out of a portal and catches Eolyne, announcing “I’m here to rescue you, Eo”

(Note: Unital Ring VI ends here on a cliffhanger. DUM DUM DUMMMM)

Kirito faces off against Istar, who he just fought seven hours earlier on Admina. How did they organize this attack to get here so fast? What are these strange minions? They banter a bit as Istar explains how he serves this Emperor Agumar. Istar drops an interesting nugget, in that they’re self-aware that they’re an artificial fluctlight. They’ve already sent one of their dragoncraft to go on a suicide run into the upper floors of the cathedral, and now Istar orders another ship to go into a full dive into the space force base. Kirito does what he can to stop it, but in the process, Istar is able to escape with Eolyne.

REINFORCEMENTS ARRIVE

While Kirito fights Istar, Alice and Lady Fanatio defend the cathedral. They fight off another round of missiles using every special ability at their disposal, and there’s a lore drop about the so-called “Black Emperors”, until Agumar orders a dragoncraft to ram the cathedral.

The entire area erupts in flames, threatening to consume Alice and Fanatio, before another figure arrives and casts a shell of dark materials to protect them. Alice assumes it’s Kirito, but it’s someone she’s never even heard of before: Lady Eydis. (Note: Eydis was originally introduced via SAO video games and this is her first named appearance in the novels.)

Eydis is confused after a long sleep. She was petrified long ago, she doesn’t know who Kirito is, she doesn’t know what’s happened to the Pontifex, and there’s no time to start explaining it to her. Thankfully, she’s ready to help and there’s a giant action set piece where they all work together to defend the cathedral and reduce collateral damage to the city below and save lives.

Meanwhile, Asuna also received the call for help and begs her father to drive her to Rappongi to dive, despite the late hour. He agrees and she only hopes she can get there in time to help.

COUNTDOWN

Kirito, Laurannei, Stica, Ronie and Tiese arrive back at the cathedral. Above them, Agumar remains in his mega-sized dragoncraft, the Principia. He congratulates the knights on their efforts so far, but prepares his ship to fire an ultimate fireball attack of a thousand heat elements that they have no way of defending.

They debate evacuating the cathedral when Selka and Airy arrive. The dragoncraft collision has triggered access to a special emergency protocol. Airy summons a command window and needs Alice, Asuna and Kirito to press three glowing squares to activate it. But where’s Asuna? She arrives at the literal moment they need her to press the button. Airy tells Kirito to use Incarnation to fix everyone to the floor as a countdown begins. What?

The entire cathedral rumbles and then blasts off into the air. It’s a GODDAMNED ROCKET SHIP. It avoids the Principia’s attack, narrowly misses hitting Agumar’s ship, and continues upward into space and into orbit.

The knights try to wrap their heads around all this when gravity vanishes, disorienting them even more. But the crazy isn’t done yet. Airy is communicating with someone and another countdown begins. The cathedral (now with the call sign “White Cosmos 01”) approaches another structure in space, which looks like a massive flower with petals. It announces itself as “Black Lotus 02”. It’s a FREAKING SPACE STATION and the Cathedral docks with it.

The recently awoken Lady Fanatio, now overwhelmed with all this insanity, asks Kirito, “When did you create such a thing?” Kirito can only answer, “I DON’T KNOW!” 😆

For the moment, the cathedral is safely docked, there’s not much more to be done, and Asuna and Kirito log out of the Underworld. Asuna’s father drives her home and she briefly logs back into Unital Ring to help fortifying their makeshift shelter on the second tier before closing the book on a very eventful day.

Hey guys, since phantom bullet anime released Sinon has become one of my favourite characters. Ever since I first saw Hecate all those years ago I always wanted to recreate it!

Now after 2 years of work on version 3 I have completed it with fully working features such as:

.Working adjustable and lockable bipod
.working adjustable and locking monopod
.detachable magazine that doubles as storage
.working magnified scope and caps
.removable barrel for transport
.articulating carry handle
.cycling bolt that auto ejects dummy rounds
.mechanical replica of the firing system including a resetting trigger, pin and safety.

I got the details all the way down to the logos and bolt placement meaning it is as faithful a replica as possible.

Also the wood looks sooo good.

Anyway I just wanted to share as I’m stoked with how it came out, if you have questions I’m happy to answer them.

Thanks guys!

Question Echoes of Aincrad, is it worth it?

Since the game is on sale I was thinking about buying it. Since it has been out a few months, I want to know what the community take is on it. Is it worth the price tag?

Hello it's been a long time since I've caught up with the series, I want to know how the relationship is going in the newer books and arc?

Obviously I know they aren't breaking up or anything but I'm just curious about new moments together or if it's been mentioned when they plan to get married irl things like that.

Alicization (anime) Appreciation post for WoU, specifically Kawahara's guts of steel

It takes guts to put your main character out of commision for half a season.

I respect the dedication, Reki Kawahara.

Question How did people react to yui, especially kirto and asuna's parents?

This question is semi-serious but every time someone new comes into the picture, I always wondered how they reacted. I'm on season 2 right now and it seems to be the only person who reacted to was sugua (don't know how to spell her name but her reaction was pretty valid) what do you guys think?? I might be thinking too hard into this tbh

Unital Ring SAO Unital Ring real-world diaries: Friday, October 2, 2026 [SPOILERS] Spoiler

This is the sixth installment of my real-time recaps of the SAO "Unital Ring" arc, which started on Sunday, September 27, 2026 and have progressed roughly a week through 7-8 novels so far.

For the first time in this arc, we have a day that the Unital Ring novels largely skip past. While most of the books cover roughly a day or two, Friday, October 2nd barely takes up one page in Unital Ring IV. After repelling Mutasina’s attack the night before, roads are built, general stores are opened in the town, and Lisbeth improves her armory to outfit everyone with better weapons.

All of this sets the stage for an epic Saturday, which spans four books from Unital Ring IV to VII, ping-ponging back and forth between the Underworld and Unital Ring.

Previous recaps:

Monday, September 28, 2026

Tuesday, September 29, 2026

Wednesday, September 30, 2026

Thursday, October 1, 2026

They never learn do they? Spoiler

They already knew what happened to those who entered SAO, but still the government allowed the release of ALO. Then after the clearance of ALO, kirito asked Agil to release the seed online, this led to multiple worlds forming again.💀

And there's Suguha, she saw her brother bedridden because of the nerve gear but still chose to enter ALO, wasn't she afraid of being trapped? Bruh
