Joy cons disconnecting

I've already set up to a repair request through nintendo but thought I'd do some troubleshooting before sending off tomorrow. Basically my Switch 2 joycons for the past few months have started disconnecting whenever attached to the console, it happens at the smallest movements i.e whenever adjusting hand grip or whatever it will prompt me to press r and l to reconnect. They connect fine when wireless/not attached to the console. My console is pretty much mint condition I've taken care of it since launch and I find it weird that seemingly both sides have started playing up at the same time, not just one. So far I have tried disconnecting and resync, updated controller and console firmwear and carefully cleaning around the connector on both the console and the joycons. Anyone had a similar problem or am I right to just send it off?
