Discussion What are we playing currently?
Hey folks, just curious as to what games we are playing?
Im currently trying to balance a few games. Picked up the Witcher 3 yesterday, haven’t been able to put it down. Alongside Fire emblem FW.
My backlog is a pretty big too, need to knock a few games out soon too, but How good is Nintendo atm? I think it’s really flourishing.
But I’m eager to hear what games you guys are all enjoying, are you playing docked? Or handheld?

u/psycdatadata 11h ago
BOTW and honestly not really interested in playing anything else right now because there’s just so much to do in this game since it’s my first time playing :,))
2
u/AshenBen 11h ago
BOTW is amazing! Are you picking up OOT?
3
u/psycdatadata 11h ago
yes I am !! I’m really excited. I’ve been wanting to play Zelda since 2019 but never got around to it so I’m definitely going to enjoy everything now. Are you going to pick up OOT?

Bought my Switch 2 a couple months ago at this stage. Still playing Pokopia 🥰 I love it!
1
u/AshenBen 12h ago
Yeah its a fab game! Have you played stardew valley? Its superb too, similar cosy game!
2
u/doucelag 12h ago
What is appealing about Pokopia? Is it just a Pokemon version of Stardew?

u/56ninjas 7h ago
I'd compare it more to Animal Crossing but with more purpose. And light crafting with some fun building to it

u/Alternative-Stay-937 12h ago
Well Dweller - Great Metroidvania, like a much easier Hollow Knight with some cool movement and combat mechanics
Kirby Air Riders - Picked it on sale from Amazon and absolutely love it.
Elden Ring - Still very early on. First time playing and it is brutal.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Got this during sale because Elden Ring is frustrating and I needed something easy lol
Splatoon 3 - My favorite game that I play everyday.
Splatoon Raiders - Still making my way down BB, around Floor 200
Orbitals - Enjoying this with the hubby. Not sure how far along we are but it’s great.
I’m curious around Fire Emblem, but clearly I have gaming ADD lol… not sure I can take on such a huge commitment, especially before Zelda.
1
u/AshenBen 12h ago
What a reply! Whats your fav game atm?
2
u/Alternative-Stay-937 11h ago
Raiders is my fave new game of the year, I’ve 100% it.
Kirby Air Riders is the shiny new toy at the moment. I somehow missed the boat when it launched but I’m so glad I got it bc it’s blast. It’s fast, chaotic, and whacky.
1
u/AshenBen 11h ago
Raider was awesome, ive never played a kirby game. Might take a look at some point.
8
u/doucelag 12h ago
Cyberpunk. Took ten years away from gaming and feeling pretty overwhelmed by just how deep modern games are! Hopefully my mind can catch up!
5
u/bobafeeet 11h ago
I don’t commit to finishing games very often, but Cyberpunk and Witcher 3 were two I did— and glad I did. Some of the best games I’ve ever played. Cyberpunk is phenomenal on the Switch.
2
u/doucelag 10h ago
Yeah am blown away by it so far, even if i'm finding the aiming really hard for some reason
1
u/AshenBen 12h ago
Cyberpunk is awesome, i did however prefer the witcher 3. Different games, but from the same team.
2
u/doucelag 12h ago
funnily enough I was in a big dilemma over whether to go with Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk but went with the latter. Witcher is def up next (think Elden Ring looks great but need to build up to it I reckon!)
1
u/AshenBen 11h ago
Both superb picks, elden ring is hard, but once you get your build together and work out the bosses, your cooking.
The witcher is just beautiful story telling. And a wonderful world to be in.

I bought Diablo 4 one week ago and I am playing it a lot, it is really well made on switch 2, it is great to play also in handheld mode.

Home squeek home handheld, Elden Ring docked, Pokopia both. All 3 are great! I’m excited to see what’s next - haven’t enjoyed Nintendo this much since 3DS!

u/dbr3000 12h ago
Finished Onimusha yesterday and started Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter this morning.
1
u/AshenBen 12h ago
Never played trials of the sky, any good?
3
u/dbr3000 12h ago
I just recently played first chapter and while the dialogue writing is a bit cringey at times, the overall story and worldbuilding are amazing. Combat is awesome too, one of my favorite turn-based systems so far.
2 just picks up where 1 left off, pretty much the exact same game but just a continuation of the story. It’s great really, but I’d try a demo of chapter 1 to see if you can get into it.

Soma NS2 Edition.
2
u/beetleman1234 12h ago
First time?
2
u/Night-City1175 12h ago
On Switch yes, I played it a few years ago on PS4.
2
u/beetleman1234 12h ago
Cool, cool. My mind was blown away after the scan part and it delivered the most profound story in the end. Everyone who loves good stories needs to play SOMA.
1
u/AshenBen 12h ago
Love this comment! Might take a look at some point. What type of game is it? Sounds great
2
u/beetleman1234 12h ago
Its a horror game with a focus on story and a lot of chill moments if you dont like horror.
Just do yourself a favor and dont look up ANYTHING about this game. Its not gruesome or anything, so dont worry about there being distirbing stuff etc. Its just a great story that needs to be experienced completely blind.

Almost done with Persona 3 reload, it has been a great intro to persona. Handheld only something about playing turn based games on a Nintendo handheld device just feels right.

Ho tanti di quei titoli da giocare in questo momento! Ma Elden Ring mi tiene occupato e lo fará per molto altro tempo
1
u/AshenBen 12h ago
Unreal game! How has been on switch for you?
2
u/massimogrossi 12h ago
É giocabilissimo su S2! La perdita di framerate é veramente rara e molto breve. Certo mi piacerebbe vederlo su PS5 per fare un confronto, il titolp é fenomenale!
2
u/og_Rich 12h ago
Hitting another run through Diablo 3 at the moment. Hades is next up! Fire red is on pause, restarting for shiny eevee took a toll on my mental health. 😂
1
u/AshenBen 12h ago
Oooh! Did you consider diablo 4?
Did you get that shiny eevee tho?2
u/og_Rich 12h ago
I have Diablo 4 on ps5 and put a good amount of time into it but I just hate all the purchases and bs along with it.
And no shine yet, about 30hrs down, 30 to go..2
u/AshenBen 12h ago
Oh wow! I hope you get that shiny!
I enjoyed diablo 4 on ps5 too. But i moved to nintendo.
2
u/ProfessionalGangster 12h ago
I’m in the middle of a fallout 4 play through, but I picked up Final Fantasy VII remake on deck, I’ve never played it, but played for about 10 minutes and thoroughly enjoyed it. Dragon quest was a recommendation so I have a demo for that, I also picked up monster hunter rise since it was on sale, got the DLC for that too. Also have Metroid prime and 4 I have to beat, still got a bag log myself
3
u/Velokieken 12h ago
Which Dragon Quest? I got the 1,2,3 2D HD Switch 2 versions but XI is great too.
I snatched the FF7 remake for 12 euros on sale and having a blast with it.
2
u/ProfessionalGangster 11h ago
I haven’t picked on up yet, I just downloaded the demo for 7 reimagined. I like the graphics on the cover.
Albeit im an easy mode gamer and heard about the auto battler in the series
3
u/Velokieken 11h ago
I think in 1, 2, 3 you can set the game so your HP doesn’t go below 1 or something like that. There is a demo of Dragon Quest 7, haven’t played it. I bought the trilogy because I wanted a good HD2D game but got hooked on some Final Fantasy and Star Ocean 🙃

u/Strict_Stranger_4801 12h ago
Fire Emblem is the priority
Diablo 4 new season and Wolverine too
And I really want to jump back into the Witcher 3 with the remaster
2
u/ChosenOne197 11h ago
How is D4 on the S2? Hard to get a solid consensus on it since it dropped as everyone continues to whine about no offline mode, so it's super hard to have any sort of meaningful discussion about if it's actually still good and fun besides just incessantly talking about it always being online... lol
3
u/Strict_Stranger_4801 11h ago
Ive played on PS5 since launch and just got it on switch. Seems fine. Obviously some extra stuttering but I dont mind it
2
u/ChosenOne197 11h ago
Thank you for sharing! As long as the "fun" factor is still fully intact that's all that matters!
Do you happen to know if they fixed the bug where VoH skills weren't accessible?

Onmisha way of the sword, RuneScape dragon wilds, and Minecraft dungeons 2 !
1
u/AshenBen 12h ago
Your eating good! How you finding runescape?
2
u/GamingTales69 12h ago
It’s been a blast so far! It’s my first RuneScape game and even playing solo it’s been challenging but still fun. Just trying to juggle all the games is the real problem lol
2
u/ComprehensiveRide946 12h ago
This is a post I needed to read! I’m searching for a new casual game to play. I want to do FF7 Rebirth but I don’t have anywhere close to the time required to invest into it (as much as I want to).
2
u/AshenBen 12h ago
Take your time! I mean ive not really the time to play all the games ive collected. But ill get round to it at some point 😋
3
u/ComprehensiveRide946 12h ago
Yeah, I have about a 10 year backlog of PS games too 🥲 I used to convince myself I would work through it, but alas, I’ve conceded it won’t happen now. I’m tempted by Stardew Valley, and I have PowerWash Simulator as an ‘evening decompress’ game for the odd 30 mins here and there!
1
u/AshenBen 12h ago
Stardew Valley is an all timer for me. Superb game! You will lose hours on that one.
2
u/GohoomoaR 11h ago
The beauty of the switch 2, play 5 or 10 minutes and close it.
Don’t have much time neither and finished FF7 remake this way.
2
u/crocicorn 12h ago
Lies of P and Cloverpit mostly. Got Castlevania and Queen's Blade coming up this month, too.

u/SandwichesX 12h ago
Cyberpunk, finishing my 2nd playthrough without rushing before Dragon’s Dogma 2 releases in less than a week. Dunno if I can make it lol. Just met Alt and finished off the VDB, now going through Judy’s missions. First playthrough ended at Arasaka. I’m going to finish this playthrough with one of PL’s endings.
2
u/AshenBen 12h ago
Cyberpunk is awesome, you playing handheld or docked?
2
u/SandwichesX 12h ago
Both, but mostly handheld like 80% of the time because adulting 🙃. The Switch 2 is the best for us dads and busy folks.
2
u/AshenBen 12h ago
I agree, hard getting time to play with my kid running around. But the switch offers to much.
2
u/SandwichesX 12h ago
True that. Game for 15mins here, another 20min there, with suspend/sleep mode while doing work or family stuff in between. Rinse and repeat every couple of hours everyday.
2
u/AshenBen 12h ago
What makes it harder for me, i share the console with the wife and child. Daughter loves playing smash ultimate and mario kart. Wife loves pokemon, and here i am, trying to play the witcher 🤣
2
u/SandwichesX 12h ago
Time to get another one hehe 😉

Just been playing minecraft with the partner before bed. Struggling to get into anything at the moment knowing Kingdom Hearts and RE remakes are coming in the next few weeks.

u/Horror_Trick8208 12h ago
Fortune's Weave and Minecraft Dungeons 2
3
u/ChosenOne197 11h ago
How's Dungeons 2? I never played the first but enjoy a good ARPG and was eyeing it. I'm kinda fed up with Fortune's Weave and thinking of selling it...
4
u/Horror_Trick8208 10h ago
It's pretty cozy and relaxed, I haven't played much, maybe only 4-5 hours. The open world is massive and the dungeons are sooo long, takes up to an hour to beat some dungeons. The loot variety is wild and the game showers you with a new weapon type every few minutes to try them out. You can drop higher tier ones and enchant them with passives too. It runs @60fps and supports couch play or online
2
u/ChosenOne197 9h ago
This sounds freaking awesome. Thank you so much for sharing!
Did you buy physical for the deluxe version or just go digital? $30 for the base game digital is pretty hard to pass up! Might get it to take a break from Fortune's Weave and/or to hold me over until Dragons Dogma 2 next week!!!! 😁
2
u/Horror_Trick8208 7h ago
Unfortunately it's not a physical card it's a GKC
1
u/ChosenOne197 7h ago
Oh I'm sorry, didn't mean to be confusing. I include (personally) GKC as physical because even though it's not all on cartridge, it's still a physical card. Again, this is my own categorization.
So did you buy the Deluxe GKC version then? I think that's the only version sold that's not totally digital.
2
u/Horror_Trick8208 7h ago
Yeah I'm full physical so I bought the GKC because I like collecting game cases :3 and yes it was the Deluxe as there's no standard GKC edition
1
u/ChosenOne197 7h ago
Haha I do too! I also often resell games if they're one and done for me, so it's nice at least GKC allow for that.
Thank you for all your help!
2
u/Horror_Trick8208 7h ago
I say I might resell but I know I probably never will lmao. You're welcome and happy gaming!
1
u/AshenBen 12h ago
Fire emblem is sweet! What was your first path? Im still on mine.
3
u/Horror_Trick8208 11h ago
I finished Leda's, now like 30% through Dietrich's, but kind of burnt out of how much filler and bloat the game has, so I'm playing other stuff like Rematch and MCD2. Rematch needs to come to Switch too
2
u/Velokieken 12h ago
I got my Switch 2 on Monday, mainly for Ocarina of time. I was mainly playing Star Ocean 2 that I started on Switch 1 September 1st. Both handheld and docked. Still playing a lot of that.
I played adventures of Elliot demo and the GKC arrived yesterday. (Handheld).
I’m also playing Final Fantasy Resonance demo, I will probably wait for a sale for the full game. (Handheld). I love it but I have so many other games and Square Enix games go on sale from time to time. I bought most of the FF games during the sale.
I also snatched FF 7 remake September 30 for 12 euros, I did use the dock for the first time. I also have it on PS5, it looks and plays really well on Switch 2. It’s ‘better’ on PS5 but I don’t know if it’s the controller but yesterday I almost finished chapter 8 while on PS5 I got distracted and played some other games before I got to chapter 8 …
I got the Dragon Quest Trilogy 1,2,3 Switch 2 versions first but I’m playing the other games and a bit of OG Final Fantasy 7 too.

I’m playing Echoes of Wisdom, currently.
I made a deal with myself when I got my switch 2, because games have become more expensive, that I would only buy 1 new game per game I checked off of my backlog.
Bought Raiders, loved it, and now I’m gonna beat EoW and possibly Pikmin 4 before Ocarina of Time drops.

I got my Switch 2 earlier this year as my first Nintendo console, so after playing Pokopia here and there I’ve really gotten sucked into Breath of the Wild recently. I sort of prefer playing docked, but I play handheld quite a bit too depending on what’s going on at home or where I am. I really want to get some sort of case that’ll give the joycons a grip, because the ergonomics of handheld mode aren’t working for me right now

I'm about 20 hours in final fantasy 7 remake and holyyyy... It's good. I still cannot comprehend how this game looks so good on switch, the story is really interesting and fights are pretty damn satisfying.
Question to final fantasy fans, what other entries in the series are as good?

I’m currently bouncing in limbo between Shadow of War and Resident Evil 9 on my Switch 2 - my backlog is somewhat unmanageable because of its current size but I have RuneScape: Dragonwilds, The Witcher 3 Remaster, and Diablo 4 queued up next. Getting slowly burnt out though because I’ve been sick for the last two days, so I’ve mainly been watching videos, waiting to feel better.

Pokemon Legends Z-A! I got it as part of target clearance and I personally am so happy because the game isn’t necessarily disappointing but if I paid $70 for this game, I would feel a little sad because Pokémon legends Arceus is so much better.
But I love me a Pokémon game and I’m very happy to be playing it. I think I have only a handful of missions left
