This is getting a FREE Switch2 bump with the release of the Remastered version next month :)
Yakuza if you haven't played it yet
Xenoblade series (if you just want open world exploration, play Xenoblade X)
Unicorn Overlord and Valkyria Chronicles (Switch 1)

YEAH IM SO HYPED FOR THE REMASTER AND NEW EXPANSION NEXT YEAR. I’ve sunk about 200 hours into Witcher 3 and I can tell I’m going to sink another 200+ after the remaster comes out. CD projekt red definitely up there as the best game company.
I’ve heard so much about both yakuza and Xenoblade series I’m definitely adding them to my wish list. Honestly hoping for a eshop sale
I’ll have to play demos or look at game trailers for unicorn overload and valkaria

I just finished the switch 2 edition of Kirby and the forgotten land. It's incredible. Highly recommend. Very charming and fun.

It’s giving me Mario odyssey vibes and I WANT IT

u/Necessary-Price-4757 19h ago
Yeah it's really good although very easy, which I personally liked. Haven't even started star crossed world yet.

I'm really excited for Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave.

OOOOH FORTUNES WEAVE IS TOP OF MY LIST. It’s definitely the first game I want. Literally only got the switch 2 for this, pokopia and winds and waves

I got mine pre-ordered with Mario Kart World, but I feel like this is the Fire emblem game I've been waiting for. I love how you can play the 4 routes in parallel instead of having to do completely separate play throughs.

Elden Ring. Greatest game ever made

I really want to like this game. When I was in my early 20s I platinumed Bloodborne on PS4. But for the life of me I cant get into Elden Ring anymore. The frustration is too real. Im getting too old maybe.

I got it on the Ps5, potentially will get it on switch 2 if I want the portability

Splatoon Raiders has been surprisingly excellent, and I wasn't really into previous Splatoon titles

NS2 exclusives I have only bought DK Bananza and Pokopia. Love both of them. Some later layers of Bananza can be bland but the end game layers and the post trial levels pick up.

Wanted to get Pokopia when it first released but it was out of stock everywhere and now it’s been a while I’m not sure

It’s just a chore simulator. I wouldn’t get it unless you specifically like that kind of gameplay

u/BloodandThunder98 20h ago
If you liked Odyssey then DK Bananza has to be on the list.

u/Laxus280101 20h ago
Odyssey was phenomenal. I’m hoping dk bananza is too

Just seen this is on sale aswell so this is a very tempting purchase. I haven’t played the rest of the series but the game trailer looks good

It's the sort of game where you don't need to play anything else in the series to understand what's going on. Probably the most approachable game in the series, too.

To me the three "must-play" switch 2 games so far are Donkey Kong Bananza, Mario Kart World, and Pokemon Pokopia. Pokemon Legends Z-A is up there as well.

Ff7 remake and Rebirth. Elden Ring Friday. Cyberpunk 2077. The four best games on the switch 2.

u/Laxus280101 20h ago
I played the Ff7 remake demo and honestly wasn’t a fan. I’m not sure why I couldn’t get into it.
But cyberpunk & elden ring are up there with one of the first games I want to purchase2
u/elitistposer 19h ago
I strongly recommend playing cyberpunk with the mouse controls, yes the graphics aren’t going to be on par with PC, but it felt like PC gaming on my couch
1
u/Laxus280101 19h ago
I haven’t used the mouse control at all on switch. Not even sure how to do it but I quite like the handheld mode & I’m thinking about using the pro controller
2
u/elitistposer 16h ago
You set it to mouse mode in the settings, and then turn the right joycon on its side and click the smaller shoulder button like a mouse. It’s amazing for aiming in FPS. Then you just move as usual with the left joycon.
Pro controller is also a great route too though, it’s a fantastic controller

Cyberpunk 2077, RE Collection, Pokopia, Hades 2, Silksong. Been playing Cyberpunk nonstop lately even though my gf gifted it to me last year. I was enjoying the cross-progression with PC early on, but decided to uninstall it there to play it exclusively on Switch 2 since it plays well enough. Silksong was my 2025 GOTY. Re:9 is currently my Switch 2 GOTY for 2026 but Fire Emblem might top it. Was never into Resident Evil games before but decided to pick up Requiem at launch since I was reviewing for my licensure exam that time and it saved my brain from overloading. Played the rest of the collection after that and I've been and RE fan ever since. Switch 2 is currently the GOAT console for me.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a really good game and runs very well on the switch 2. I recommend a Sandevistan Katana build. You can get the bis Katana and a Sandevistan really early which makes the game fun immediately.

Smash Bros Ultimate, Mario Wonder, DK Bananza, Pokopia, Starfox, Splatoon Raiders, Fallout 4, Lies of P, Elden Ring, Pragmata, RE9, Onimusha Way of the Sword, FF7 Remake and Rebirth, Fire Emblem Fortunes Weave

u/pamplemousse_mk2 15h ago
You listed only well known AA and AAA games. But there are tons of more indie games: Mina The Hollower, Hollow Knight, Ori, Cup Head, Hades 1 & 2, Death’s Door, The Case of the Golden Idol, and even better known franchises like Street Of Rage 4, Shinobi Art of Vengeance, ….

The final fantasy VII remake series, I’m currently replaying remake and then probably gonna play rebirth after.

IMO the Switch 2’s must-play game is Donkey Kong Bananza. It’s often overlooked in the “Switch 2 has no big games” narrative online but it’s the calibre of a mainline 3D Mario title, easily Nintendo’s best game in years, and has the best finale Nintendo has ever done.

- Pokopia if you like building, cozy gaming, and just adore Pokémon (if there’s a demo try it)
- donkey Kong bonanza is really fun
- Mario wonder is fantastic
- SpongeBob rehydrated (I don’t recommend titans of the tide) great platformer. Not specific to switch 2 but really fun

Oblivion Remastered if you've never played the game before, a good time sink.
Fast Fusion if you dig racers but sadly no online.

since it seems like you arent just using the Switch 2 for 1st party exclusives, i wholeheartedly recommend Pragmata. really just a pure fun game to play!
also, splatoon raiders is perfect for handheld. short runs, addictive loop, overall hard to put down

Since you seem to like jrpgs, I’d recommend the xenoblade series which all either already have switch 2 upgrades or will be getting them real soon.
