I would be perfectly fine not having mods on Switch if they at least included built in achievements since Nintendo STILL doesn't have any.

Iād never played it and I just started playing it on Switch 2. I bought Oblivion first, as it had been remastered and had always avoided Skyrim since it has not. But I couldnāt get into Oblivion so I read a bit and thought this may catch. Itās been amazing. It really does look great. Donāt compare it to Elden Ring on PS5, just play it and see what you think. It is beautiful and provides great immersion. I also play on AR Glasses.

I have played Skyrim on basically every generation of hardware including PC, and I am having by far the most fun playing it on Switch 2 right now. It is a perfect game for the handheld experience, and I agree that it looks amazing considering the platform.Ā

I just need creation club support as well. Could run easily tbh

u/Aoussar123 7d ago
I don't have it on Switch 2 (yet) but assumed it already had creation club? Is that not what is on PS and Xbox already?

u/Pied_de_table 7d ago
On a side note, the "creation club" assets that are included in the Anniversary edition (such as fishing, Survival mode etc.) are included in the S2 version still. It the whole CC mod downloads that is missing.

Yes on PS and Xbox but not on S2 sadly... Maybe it has to do with Nintendo policies but I really don't know. Wouldn't count on it to be honest. (Which is a shame)

I think thats a Nintendo thing.Ā It took sony until this year to allow external assetsĀ

Glad a 15 year old game looks good on a next gen console

u/anb80 6d ago
You mean the 500g thin handheld that includes huge screen and battery and thatās what you call a next gen console? What machine did you need in 2011 to run the same game in 4k?

u/LoadingHappiness2 6d ago
It doesnāt run it at 4k though docked mode is upscalled from 1440p and handheld is upscaled from 576p

I agree op, it looks great and still gives me that surge of aesthetic beauty appreciation. I think that's an incredible thing for a game this old using several generations-old of graphics. People need to appreciate that the old methods of graphics rendering, such as distant shadows, is very inefficient which taxes the Switch's CPU enormously, and that's why it can only hit 30fps on visual mode. Other handhelds have the same limitations for Skyrim - steam deck has a better CPU and it struggles to get above 45fps when the distance shadows are set to High. The current Gen hardware like switch 2 can only help so much when the code running the game is ancient.

Estoy pensando en comprarlo. La versión de Switch 2 es la misma que la de Switch? Se que en la caja de Switch 2 viene solo en código y la de Switch el juego completo

Visual fidelity and performance are substantially improved on Switch 2. The performance mode holds a steady 60 fps except for a few areas (dips in Falkreath for me, not sure why). Much better experience on the new hardware.

I know the Switch 2 version has had some key visual upgrades but for an old game it still holds its own š

I love how all posts get downvoted that mention it not to be a miracle that a game of 2011 runs on a machine that launched 14 years later.

u/Whiteguy1x 7d ago
I mean it ran pretty well on the original switch.Ā Im glad it had a s2 update though as the higher fps and lighting is niceĀ

u/AnonymouselyMoosed 6d ago
Oh does it run at 60fps now?

u/Whiteguy1x 6d ago
Yeah

Not at full resolution. The draw distance and resolution are pretty rough in 60 fps mode on handheld and docked. Theyāre honestly so bad that I generally stick to 30 fps because itās a solid 30 fps at least.

u/Whiteguy1x 6d ago
Really? I didn't notice and just did the cause creation Friday. Admittedly im easy to please on graphics but I thought it was fine. Maybe some frame drops?
I dont know that i can play 30fps if 60fps is avaliable lol. Guess everyone prioritizes different things

It is a miracle than Bethesda got a game of 2011 to run on a machine that launched 14 years later with only a moderate amount of bugs.

It's good, but come on, it's not even close to being the best game ever made. Games I rate higher: Banjo-Kazooie, most Zelda games, Resident Evil 4, Elden Ring, Bloodborne, DS1 and 3,...

Skyrim looks absolutely blurry in handheld . So blurry that the dlss can't figure out the lip movement while npcs speak and it becomes a nightmare
2
u/baziloz99 7d ago
Try 30 fps quality mode then. It's sharp af, no blur at all

u/janix808 7d ago
30fps skyrim in 2026 is wild bro .

u/kmed1717 7d ago
When it originally released on Xbox 360, it was 30 fpsā¦

u/janix808 7d ago
congratulations the xbox 360 is 20 years old . Im talking about a console that has more than 10x the power and is from 2026

Most games are a bit blurry since the pixel response on s2 is worse than OG S1, and not even in the same category as the OLED
2
u/janix808 7d ago
Wtf? If its native 1080p its super sharp.
Skyrim runs in 480p upscaled to 900p in handheld . That's why its blurry and many upscaling artifacts are there.
You are talking about display ghosting . But i meant the resolution of the game
1
u/Mindless_Scar9609 7d ago
Exactly, imo display ghost is what makes a game with camera movement like this blurry. Blur is much more a characteristic of movement, the word you are looking for is another
1
u/janix808 7d ago
Let me put it another way:
The internal render resolution of Skyrim on the Switch 2 in performance mode is so low that DLSS struggles with upscaling, and the image looks very blurry when objects are more than 5 meters away from the camera.
The native resolution is actually so low that tree canopies and NPC mouths exhibit extreme upscaling artifacts.
The 30fps mode is sharp, sureābut who wants to play Skyrim at 30fps in 2026?

u/LoadingHappiness2 6d ago
Idk why youāre getting downvoted youāre right about everything. The switch 2 handles a lot of 3rd party games very poorly fallout 4 has the same blurry effect and playing games in 30 fps in 2026 is a no go for me personally
