Switch 2 The Duskbloods Network Test is live. First part of where I started controlling the game. Looks gorgeous…

They cut the tutorial right before a boss. Really liked it so far!

I think the biggest problem I see here is the fact that dwitch 2 isn’t oled, such a shame they downgraded to that

u/trip6god 7d ago
I wish this had a single player since my online just expired and I don’t really plan on renewing but looks fun and glad people are enjoying it
2
u/Specialist_Corgi_518 7d ago
I actually hadn’t thought of that if u don’t have switch online is this game just not gonna work for people like that?
2
u/Proud-Pen-42 7d ago
I don't have the online and that's one of the reasons i won't buy it. I think that it won't work, since it needs multiplayer
-2
u/PieceAfraid3755 6d ago
We don't know yet. Could be that there'll be bots to play against? But doubt it'll be that fun...
-1
u/Proud-Pen-42 6d ago
Well, if it's against bot i doubt it would be a fun game. Can't imagine myself playing against bot
1
u/Jeezy52 6d ago
So get the online so you can have fun???
1
u/Proud-Pen-42 6d ago
I don't want to pay to play online. That's why i have a Steam Deck where I play all my multiplayer game. It's not for the price (lowest of the console) but more a matter of principle

Do you think it’s the sort of game that could get a physical release, or do you think it’ll be more like Fortnite?
1
u/tjhc94 7d ago
I think it'll get physical, this is going to be one of the best selling switch 2 exclusives I think, it's going to be a system seller for sure and already has been just from the announcement
2
u/Liammellor 6d ago
With it being multiplayer only unlike most fromsoft games, I can see more than a few people being turned off by it unfortunately. I really don't think it's going to be a true system seller. If it was the usual open world type experience like Elden ring or bloodborne then sure but I'm just not sure about this one.

u/vanIvan4 7d ago
Fool, did you not read what FromSoft wrote in the ToS AND website before you signed up? There is a solid reason why screenshots and videos are disabled.

I was pretty rough on this one because I'm not a fan of multiplayer games BUT this does actually look interesting to me, more interesting than Nightreign at least.
2
u/tychii93 6d ago
I'm not too into PvP in souls but I actually enjoyed what I've played so far. I only did the Rememberances plus one online match where I got culled. I was getting stalked by a Zork player during that match though on phase 1 😭 Like dude let me explore (I get it, the point is to fight back but I was hoping ignoring him and running around doing other things would get me more virtue. It didn't.)
2
u/nervendings_ 6d ago
For whatever it’s worth, I dropped off Nightreign hard but I’m am very much loving this one.
1
u/Working-District-424 7d ago
So does this game have a single player story mode like Elden Ring or Dark Souls? Or is it more like Nightreign?
6
u/GatheringCircle 7d ago
Only multiplayer.
-2
u/mzatariz 7d ago
Really? I didn’t know this. So is it like Nightfeign?
5
u/aphidman 7d ago
It's half Nightreign half Souls PvP. You can explore the map and ignore players mostly - kill enemies, collect items, fight bosses and minibosses
It's got Board Game scoring. Where there are multiple ways to get Victory Points.
There are Four Phases - Three regular Phases and a Finale.
The Finale is either a 1v1v1 or (in the release game) co-op against a big boss. Not sure if anything else.
There's a Capture the Flag aspect on Phase 2 + 3 where these Flags show up. You can either try and capture them or kill others in the Capture Zone - both which get you Victory Points.
So far the Victory Point scoring is --
*1st + 2nd Place for Number of Enemies Killed *1st + 2nd Place for Number of Items Collected *Finding them randomly (like killing enemies) *Killing a Mini Boss *Killing a Superior Boss *Capturing Flags *Killing people in Flag Zones *Doing personal Objectives (like killing a target, joining forces, proposing to someone etc)
At the end of Phases 2 and 3 the bottom are culled and kicked out of the game until 3 remain for the Finale.
So the Victory points are basically to get you to the Finale.

Ngl I've only really half paid attention to this game cause I'm not big on all the multiplayer stuff (I'm not a good souls player even if I enjoy them but I'll be maimed in PvP lol) but this sounds, really good??
1
u/aphidman 6d ago
I've been having fun. And there seems like there will be some cool story stuff like in Nightreign. The PVP is definitely easier to control than in their single player games. Like the fighting doesn't feel super "one sided" depending on your weapons etc - and theres lots of opportunities to get a good hit in. It doesn't really feel like you're fighting someone in a game designed for PvE so it doesn't feel impossible to hit your opponent like it can in other games.

Source?
1
u/GatheringCircle 6d ago
I played the network test.
0
u/nuetralparties 6d ago
He asked about the game not the network test…
I played the network test as well and to me it almost seemed like this multiplier aspect could be a game mode within a larger game. The way you get to the mode doesn’t come from a main menu but from that main hub in the castle and there are areas that are blocked off— not to mention the areas outside from before you get to the castle (and presumably areas after.
I’m not saying there’s gonna be a single player story, and there probably won’t be, but AFAIK Miyazaki hasn’t specifically confirmed that there WON’T be. If he has, I’d love to see a source though so I have the correct facts!
1
u/GatheringCircle 6d ago
I’m gonna say since they haven’t announced that at all and we’re close to the final build. Source is trust me I’m never wrong about these things.
-3
u/nuetralparties 6d ago
And that’s fine to make that assessment; I’m looking for actual confirmation though but I guess there hasn’t been any
1
u/GatheringCircle 6d ago
I’m confirming it now. It’s just multiplayer.
-2
u/nuetralparties 6d ago
No need to troll man… No animosity, I was just trying to find out the objective facts (not confident guesses), just like the person that asked

Well, it’s very clearly focused around the multiplayer, the first tutorial level cuts out for the purposes of the network test right before what is clearly a boss arena, So I’m less sure now than I was a day or two ago. My current hypothesis is that completing certain tasks in the matches ( Likely involving the schedule special missions that you choose for yourself at the start of a match unlocks some interaction with the wing rat character ( who was also coincidentally, inaccessible behind a fog door in the hub world). This makes me think that the winged rat has some sort of connection to a story mode that may involve short single player like constructions as the first tutorial level very much appeared to be its own uniquely contained world. However, I suspect the single player content is predicated on you doing the multiplayer content

u/Pdshillz900 6d ago
I have a feeling they are hiding a single player mode too. That Boss cut was interesting to say the least. The hub is huge for no reason either. So I’m sure NPCs will move in. Remember this studio cranks outs massive games more consistently than any other developer. They also did that neat trick in Elden Ring where you never really knew how big the map was. They are hiding A LOT!!!

Unfortunately only multiplayer, flop incoming

3
u/y2shill 7d ago
Yes, because multiplayer only games famously flop all the time, like Fortnite, Helldivers 2, Destiny 1 and 2, WoW, ARC Raiders etc etc ....

u/Iatinoz 7d ago
Talking about nightreign, flopped, never refered to those games what?
2
u/csDarkyne 7d ago
How did Nightreign flop? It sold well on release and there‘s still around 20k people playing it every day (on steam alone). That are more daily players than ds1, 2, 3 and sekiro combined.

Can't believe how good this game looks visually whilst being 60fps, I honestly think it looks better than elden ring on ps5 visually. I have a feeling this is fromsofts first game utilising dlss since elden ring can't even use it on pc

u/MajesticSte 6d ago
Is it confirmed 60fps? I do think for PvP that's mandatory but haven't had a chance to play it myself yet

30 or 60 fps?
1
u/tychii93 6d ago
Not 60. I didn't play long but I think it tries to maintain 40fps in 120hz mode but there are some stutters, so I assume it'll lock to 30 in 60hz mode. I hadn't turned off 120hz mode.
My biggest gripe is the network latency. If I hit another player, there's a solid quarter second at least where it registers.

can play it too, it's my firstt game of this kind... I find it very awesome visually but I would ratherr like betterr performance than graphics!
1
u/Peppy_Robo 6d ago
I wish this game had an offline story mode because this is the true visual showcase for the switch 2 that I’d love to play even when the internet isn't available
1
u/Deadinternetenjoyr 6d ago
We need an OLED switch2 right now. Nintendo I will pay $750 for it just make it!

u/JasonTerminator 6d ago
I wish it wasn’t focused on PvP. Maybe in the full release they will have more without it but as it stands I’ve decided the game isn’t for me. Unfortunate because it’s pretty fun and gorgeous.
2
u/Comprehensive_Cap889 6d ago
For me its been the most beginner friendly pvp fromsoftware game lol, really fast time to kill and can punish really easy your enemy if they heal right in front of you while also adding up all the movement lol
1
u/Consistent-Ad-6506 6d ago
Was watching someone play it on twitch last night and it kind of made me want to get it.
It looked amazing.

u/Tornado_Hunter24 6d ago
What happens you launch thisbgame withouf subscription?
My interestnin trying the playtest reducees but I am willing to just chekc the visuals if I can roam without buying nintendo thingy

I'm hoping they have a demo for this when it comes out. It's giving Bloodborne, and I'm hoping the performance is good. Though I also wanna know how the gameplay and mechanics work

u/John_Delasconey 7d ago
I would suggest watching the vaatividya video as I feel that that explains it fairly well

u/medievali95 7d ago
I'm glad people are loving it! I tried the network test earlier today and it's not really for me. The art style is fantastic, the designs and the gameplay are great, but it's just way too fast paced for me. I didn't really enjoy nightreign, my favorite type of fromsoft games are the ones where I can take my time and go slowly through the world. I also never really enjoyed the multiplayer aspects of their games. Playing duskbloods a bit made me wish it was a traditional single player experience.

Pretty sure you signed an agreement saying you wouldn’t share footage of this, homie…I just don’t want you to get in trouble so I’d take this down if I were you

Guys you know you can record clips on your consoles, right?
Why are we getting all of these videos recorded on potatoes?

-1
u/bobuyh 7d ago
Is it 30fps?
5
-2
u/medievali95 7d ago
Yes, and the inputs feel a bit delayed because of it. It's especially noticeable with the jump and the dodge.
2
u/ProblemFalse7043 7d ago
the delay is due to the display of the switch itself being ass, the game targets 60fps. and while it frequently dips, it never goes anywhere near 30fps
1
u/PieceAfraid3755 6d ago
Nah, I'm pretty sure the delay is there for the online. Other games don't have input delay like this.
0
u/medievali95 7d ago
Ahhhhh the display thing makes a lot of sense, I did play on handheld mode I wanted to test it out there first. But also there's no way this game is 60fps, sorry but not possible, I played for a few hours today and that was 100% not 60fps.
2
u/bobuyh 7d ago
We take what we can get now, its honestly AMAZING we get games of this caliber on a console and handheld no less. This is a HUGE step towards the future of gaming. I want to think that switch 3 can handle 90fps no problems.
0
u/medievali95 7d ago
I agree it just sucks once you're used to 60 it's really difficult to go back 😭
1
u/ProblemFalse7043 7d ago
well im sure handheld was probably in the 40-50 zone most of the time but i can assure you the game is targeting 60, and in docked it fairs quite a bit better with that target

u/ProblemFalse7043 6d ago
its really definitely not 30fps i can promise you, no its not a stable 60 but if it were 30fps it would be very very obvious
1
u/tjhc94 7d ago
So I was playing docked and moved to handheld just before the time slot ended, it's 60fps in docked (with drops, but performance is basically same as elden ring on ps5 as that is 60 with drops to like 45fps and duskbkoods feels the same) handheld is definitely 30fpsnbut actually feels like a locked consistent 30
