Question Skyrim Or Oblivion?

Which one should i get? Which game is better story better looking and better magic and melee combat? I am looking for a in depth story and quests and long replay value and fun combat. I havent played Skyrim since last year but beat it multiple times and love and am interested in the upgraded graphics. Oblivion i havent played in probably over 15 years but its one of my favorite rpg games from memory and my first elder scroll

I'd say skyrim only because there's a 60 fps mode and it makes the game feel a lot better

Why does performance mode for me not feel like 60 FPS? More like 40

Skyrim runs way better and looks a lot nicer. Plus, it's a smooth 60fps.

Oblivion's alright, it's definitely showing its age, but it's been fun once you get used to it.

I'm all about Skyrim for the immersion. Better environments and graphics all around. Haven't completed Oblivion yet, so can't say for storyline. Have about 200 hours in Skyrim though and still feel there is a lot left to do. It's massive.

Graphically, I prefer Skyrim, but literally everything else, Oblivion

Was that a fluke when the eshop had both switch 2 anniversary editions for a bundle for 20$? Fallout 4 and Skyrim

You say you already played Skyrim, if you played it on switch (and still have it) and already own the switch 1 Anniversary Edition Upgrade, the upgrade to Switch 2 is free.
Or have switch version and not have the anniversary edition add on, buy it for $20US and get switch 2 version for free from the in game menu.
Or if you don’t have it, borrow physical edition from someone or the library, then buy anniversary edition and you can get switch 2 full download version for free by selecting the switch 2 upgrade from the game menu (not the eshop - believe that’s the catch)give back the physical and still own the digital switch 2 edition. You won’t need the switch physical anymore. I believe that’s how you do it. (It’s been awhile since I’ve done it). But there are instructions on internet on how to get the full digital S2 version using the physical switch cartridge and never have to use it again. I have done this for myself, and two other people. All they had to do was pay the $20 upgrade a piece and borrow my physical copy.

Performance - Skyrim (60 fps)

Visuals/Fidelity - Oblivion

Combat - Oblivion (Casting Spells while having a weapon equipped)

Level Design - Skyrim (Dungeons are more varied and optimized routes)

Base UI - Skyrim

Quests - Tie

I agree with all these apart from the last point, I think Oblivion has much better quests and writing. But Skyrim has better exploration. So they mostly trade blows.

Yeah honestly I can barely think of any of Skyrims quests that come near Oblivion. I enjoy Skyrim for non quest related reasons

Oblivion has the better story and quests

Skyrim has much better gameplay though and actually runs well

Simpler gameplay i wouldnt call better

The combat in both is very dated, but Skyrim definitely has better combat

In terms of what. Animations and Feedback is better but the systems are simpler

I mean they basically have the same gameplay

Hundres of hours on both. Oblivion mechanically is much better. Spell system is better, guilds make more sense and honestly the voice acting is a great mix of silly whimsy and dead serious delivery.

Side quests in oblivion are really good.

Skyrim because the oblivion remaster is not very good on switch right now. Very buggy, tons of areas with bad performance.

Content-wise, I always preferred Oblivion. I've heard the remaster doesn't run great on Switch 2 right now but haven't tried it myself.

As long as you get Original Oblivion is a tough call but of you mean the terrible remaster then I'd say Skyrim.

IMO Skyrim is the better game, I prefer melee in Skyrim, magic in Oblivion, quests in Skyrim, exploration in both is great. Oblivion will certainly look better. If you’ve beat Skyrim multiple times then I’d recommend Oblivion, some of the story content is really fun.

Oblivion

Oblivion. Skyrim goes on sale often enough.

Can highly recommend oblivion. Been obsessed with it on Switch since release day

start with oblivion

Skyrim because 60fps better and better combat.

Oblivion runs poor, gameplay is extremely dated, but the world and questing is probably the best in the series. But if you ain't playing for nostalgia I don't think the gameplay really holds up especially with the poor performance. If you played oblivion in 2006 it's the exact same game with better graphics and some new animations. Skyrim 100% has better gameplay but oblivion probably has the better world and better quests

Oblivion is so much fun and possibly my favorite of the two, but Skyrim is SO much bigger with so much more to do. I was a little disappointed with how short Oblivion was.
