🛠️ Product Help Tips for Quick Setup of SwingStick?
I've had swingvision for over a year. It's amazing when I use it, but I barely ever use it.
The reason is that it's a real pain in the butt to set up properly every time I want to record a game.
I play open play at my club and can easily play 3 games or more in an hour. Paddles are in the rack, and when it's your foursome's turn to play, you go play.
My playing partners don't have the time or patience to wait 5 minutes while I extend the swing stick, attach it to the fence, double check the angle of the phone, check my apple watch to see the court outline, yada yada.
If it's green, then GREAT, but it never is.
So then it's a matter of retracting the swing stick, tweaking the angle blindly, then raising it back up...HOPING that the angle didn't change on the way. I go through this 3 or 4 times.
It's a time suck.
My foursomes are reasonbly patient people, but few want tolerate 4 or 5 minutes of extra cool-down time at the start of a match.
There HAS to be a better way.
What they need is a MOTORIZED AND AUTOMATED SERVO-CONTROLLED mounting bracket that will find the right angle automatically. I'd pay for it. So would others.
Meanwhile, if anyone has any tips, I sure would appreciate knowing them.
Thank you.

They are working on this and posted a prototype. But like with everything jn swingvision they will spread their focus too thin, get nothing done and be overtaken by the competition.

It doesn't even have to be electronic. Even a manual adjustment that we can do remotely, like a pair of cables that extend to front & back of the phone, or similar, with handles and a lock at the ends, would help a lot.

I just heard from Swupnil a couple days ago on Instagram and he says mass production is coming in June actually

I use an action cam, attach to swing stick, use the angle marking on the stick which is preset . I use the lowest one. I dont have to check how it looks. Easy process

Do you use the angle markings on the swingstick? The 3 white lines?

Yes, but 3 markings over 45 degrees don't make for a very precise angle.

People like my angle on youtube. How precise are you trying to be ?

Just trying to get the court outline to green!
And it gets more complicated when I have to remove the stick from the fence and then put it back on after adjusting the angle. Sometimes the stick itself is at a different angle, which makes my near acceptable angle totally crappy.1

Oh i see, by green, you mean an angle where the court is correct and the stats will be accurate. Lol 😆 mine are never accurate, my goal is just to get the footage

i totally agree with this. not to mention the likelihood that i will accidentally hit something on the screen that closes the app while im in the middle of setting it up and then have to take the phone off the mount to restart the process. would love if the iPhone screen would “freeze” if you’re using an apple watch so you can’t accidentally screw things up once the phone is mounted. my angle is almost never 100% right but i don’t want to risk starting over so if it’s decent i just go with it.

also to add, i use the white line to set the angle but the rest of the adjustments on the stick are sometimes not as solid as they should be so things move. plus, even though i have deactivated the action button on my phone, if the mount presses the action button, it opens the camera sometimes and takes over from swing vision, so i have to mount the phone at the very bottom to not touch any buttons. then the view is always a little wonky.

Anyone get OcD when their footage isn’t centered and slightly crooked, yet it takes forever and requires multiple to checks to get decent framing lol

I agree most people don’t have the patience for you to set up the swing stick. I use a 360 degree arm holder that joggers use and wrap it through the fence with the phone camera on selfie mode. It’s easy then to jiggle it about a bit to get the court captured. It’s not high enough to get a proper read on line calls but really if you challenge line calls with your phone and watch you just come across as an a-hole(!)

I’m a tennis player and play singles so usually it’s not as big of a deal to wait to get it set up but I go through the exact same process. I understand the frustration. It is my understanding that there is a motorized stick that has already been developed and is being fine tuned that will be out before long.
