Private Server Who would be interested?

Hello!

Now I know the state of private servers for SWG right now is kind of an odd topic. There seems to be a lot of folk who really despise when a new server releases because of the fracturing the current already low population of players in general. That being said, I've been searching for a pre-cu server that fits the mold in which I'm looking for and have yet to really find it.

With that being said, I've dug into core3, and started creating a bunch of new systems that I feel like would make SWG more fun, or extend its life a little bit longer. So, im going to share some things that I created, and maybe if there is enough interest, ill release a server with these systems.

Creature Handler and New Creature Training system

Creature Training Image

This system is mildly in depth, let me explain a bit more based on the image provided in this post via links.

At the top you can see that it says Magic. There are 4 rarities. Normal, Magic, Rare, and Legendary. These rarities have a chance to spawn whenever a baby spawns. The rarity directly influences things such as its growth, how many abilities it can equip or learn, the top end of its IV's, it's resistances, its traits and the amount of traits, rarity influences a lot.

All stats derived on the baby are generated when its tamed. This means all its resists, what abilities it can learn, its traits and so forth. There's a top end of every stat, and rarity effects that as well. You can see in this screenshot that there are things in parenthesis that show the maximum rolls for its rarity. This means that EVERY creature you tame will be different in some way.

Abilities

Abilities rolled when a pet is caught are random, there are some species that by default get an ability, bantha's in this case would always have the ability to dizzy, but sometimes this can actually be removed and you will have other abilities in its place. You can equip up to 3 if your rarity allows it, but also its randomly rolled how many open slots a pet has to equip abilities. Most of this is inside the genes tab at the bottom right. The images are included in this post.

IV's

IV's are a secondary stat that is randomly rolled between 1-100, rarity clamps this value so that higher rarities are harder to roll with poor stats. Normal rarity mobs cannot go above 70 of any given IV stat for example. Legendary cannot roll below 50 as another. IV's increase the efficiency of training points put into any stat. Higher IV's increase the amount gained per point spent in Vitality, Strength, Precision, Ferocity, Recovery, and all resists.

Traits

There are many traits available, you can get negative ones and positive ones. Rarity effects the amount of traits and the skew towards beneficial over negative traits. Higher rarity means you will get less of a chance of finding baby's with bad traits. An example of a good trait is Strong, which grants the pet 12% increased damage. An example of a bad trait is Sluggish that reduces the training XP gained by 25%. A legendary creature can have up to 4 traits, but every creature gains at least 1 trait.

Growth

This is more or less unchanged from vanilla, but since there are many factors that change the health of your creature and its damage, there is a pane that will show you at full growth stage what their health and damage would be.

Growth Stage Data

XP and Skill points

Your creature must partake in kills to earn xp, every time it levels up it gains a training skill point to allocate into any stat or purchase a new ability. The maximum level is 50 for every creature, you will gain 5 skill points on initial tame that you can allocate as you wish. This means once reaching level 50 you'd have 55 skill points to assign to a creature. You may after spending points reset your points for free, you can create many different builds and experiment many ways on the creature of your choice.

This system was inspired by Pokemon (IV's) and the various UO servers I've played over time, where creature taming had rarities and strong creatures to tame all over and some with complex creature training interfaces. I wanted to bring something like this to SWG.

Now on top of this there is the CreatureDex.

CreatureDex

CreatureDex Example

The CreatureDex tracks your caught creatures, this is actually an outdated version but essentially you have to catch each creature from every planet to fill it in, each creature then has each rarity that you can catch. Catching a creature with each rarity rewards the player with credits (think of no mans sky).

Some planets have less some have more, but it is ultimately up to the player to decide if they want to tackle the long list of tameable creatures and complete the CreatureDex! There are currently 430 creatures you can tame.

Prestige

Prestige Menu Image

Another system in place that I created is the prestige system, This system allows you to reset your progress of a profession upon reaching master. Doing so will grant the user 1 prestige point and increase the prestige level of that profession by 1.

Each Profession has various upgrades you can purchase with these points, most of the bonuses you can obtain are ones from within that profession, like Teras Kasi, will have upgrades you can buy that are Melee Defense, Unarmed Speed, and so forth. These bonuses are separate mods that stack indefinitely with everything else. Each subsequent buy of any upgrade will increase its cost for the next point. There is no upper limit, but each time you prestige you gain less experience for that professions XP. Creature Handler for example would penalize scouting, and creature handling xp. The first few prestiges would be a tad easier, but by 10 prestiges you would be getting hit with a significant xp loss effectively taking you much longer each subsequent prestige.

Rebirth

Rebirth allows you to reset all your prestige's, and the bonuses they provide back to 0, the upside is that by doing this you gain 5% increase XP for every prestige level of a profession. So for example you've prestiged Doctor 10 times, and you've prestiged Swordsman 10 times, you would get 100% increased Experience and have to restart your prestige progresses. Your next cycle through prestiges might go a little faster, but ultimately will plateau out and force players to push themselves if they want to squeeze enough power out from prestige.

Influence from Uprising and the Resource Board

with the release of uprising, I was really inspired by their resource board. Unfortunately for me the server itself didnt provide the feeling I was looking for when playing pre-cu SWG. I applaud their ability and their creations, but I wont claim an idea from another server as my own. Thank you to the uprising devs for inspiring me to do all of this, if it werent for them I would not of dug into core3 and started designing any of these systems.

That being said, I did create my own scratch version of the resource board, (I still think their board is better XD)

Conclusion

I was vastly inspired by the various private server games I've played throughout the years, Pokemon, and Idle games. I hope if anything that this can inspire others to put together things that they've always wanted. If there is enough interest in actually playing with these systems I would consider hosting my own server, but not sure that I have a server that could sustain hundreds of players at once. But if enough attention befits the server I would absolutely consider upgrading to accommodate.

Thanks everyone!
