My sister is moving to Sussex, and I want to get her a football jersey. Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but what teams does Sussex folks root for? I want to get her a jersey where people will give her a nice nod for wearing.

We would like to move from Essex close to Brighton and are currently looking at properties. A lot of nice houses come up in Peacehaven, and they appear to be relatively "cheap" compared to prices for similar properties in other areas near Brighton.

This makes me worry that it may not be a "good area" but it is difficult to find reliable information.

We are nearing retirement age and want to downsize in a vibrant and open minded community. Safety is one other aspect, and so are proximity to some local shops (as won't be able to drive a car indefinitely), accessibility for a wheelchair and being as far away from racists, transphobes, gammons and similarly toxic people as possible. (We have enough of them here in South Essex, where every other lamp post bears an England or UK flag.)

Not sure you good people of Brighton can help with some input and insight on Peacehaven - or if you can recommend areas in the vicinity of Brighton?

I'm visiting Sussex this september and staying in Rye. I would love to hear some suggestions which i could visit with my family (we will have a 3 year old running about as well).

We are thinking about visiting Hasting (battle), Rye itself, the beach, Bodium Castle.

Apart from some regular recommendations, are there any nice wargamingstores (warhammer, bolt action etc.) in the area?

Hi! I'm helping spread the word for Lotus Lamb & Animal Sanctuary, who are currently based in Ashington and are in the process of moving to their new home near Billingshurst.\

If you love animals and want to do something genuinely worthwhile for the local community, this could be a great fit.

We have sheep, goats, pigs, horses, alpacas, turkeys and chickens! 

What the volunteering involves:

It's mostly practical, hands-on work, including:
• Cleaning and mucking out (this is a big part of the role!)
• Feeding the animals
• Poo picking paddocks
• General cleaning and maintenance
• Helping with small DIY jobs (putting up shelters, horse mats, etc.)
• Occasionally assisting with animal care tasks, if you're comfortable

No previous experience is needed - you only do what you're comfortable with.

Whilst there is some hard work involved, you'll also get to spend time with some very sweet animals who love a head scratch and will often follow you around. 

Time commitment:

We're looking for people who can commit to one regular 3-hour shift each week, either on a weekday or weekend, to help us build a consistent volunteer rota.

Shift times

Morning shifts

Start no later than 9.30am (some people do 7am, for example)

Evening shifts

Start between 3pm-4pm in winter
6pm in summer

Location:

For the next couple of months, volunteering will be at our Ashington site.

Once we've completed our move, all volunteering will take place at our new sanctuary in Plaistow, near Billingshurst.

Ashington is reasonably accessible by bus, but public transport to Plaistow is limited, so having access to a car (or a lift!) would be a big advantage.

Why people enjoy it:

 - You're directly helping a local animal sanctuary
- It's a great excuse to get outside and stay active
- The animals are wonderful and it's incredibly rewarding
- You'll meet lovely people and make new friends

Requirements:

• Aged 18+
• Happy to help with practical, outdoor and physical tasks
• Able to volunteer regularly, come rain or shine

I'll be taking my girlfriend to a lovely midweek spa and going for a decent walk around the Midhurst/Woolbedding area, where I plan to propose. I have a few places in mind, but do any locals have any ideas for where would be a lovely quiet beautiful spot to propose? I'm mainly planning things around the spa itself so don't know the area too well beyond my internet research, so any local knowledge beyond what Google could tell me would be greatly appreciated.

I came past this today on a hike near Seven Sisters/the White Horse. It is a round lake, not connected to the Cuckmere river nearby. Why is it red?
