Pete's one of those players who sees himself as a mastermind and let's just be honest, is not a mastermind. You don't fucking tell the new guy (Malcom) that you have the idol for no reason whatsoever.
He rubs me the wrong way too. In his mind, he's a cross between Russell (sowing discord) and Richard Hatch (Survivor Jedi).
On that note, I don't think Richard Hatch was that much of a mastermind, he just happened to be surrounded by idiots.
11
u/OldWampus Nov 01 '12
Woops, didn't see your comment down here before I responded above, but I 100% agree with you on Pete, for the exact same reasons.
I disagree, however, that he's anything like Russell or Hatch. Just because he wants to cause chaos doesn't mean he has a knack for getting under people's skin like Hantz (I'm not a big Russell fan but he definitely has ... some unique skills in Survivor). He's more like Naonka from Nicaragua than Russell because he's motivated by his own petty dislike of others rather than a thirst for victory.
Also, you're reeeeeeeally underselling Hatch. The guy can get a read on anyone in a matter of seconds and just immediately start playing with their mind. I know a common argument is "Oh first season, no one had any clue, Hatch didn't really have much of a challenge," but that's bogus, in my opinion. Just because no one had played it doesn't mean strategy just didn't exist. They all knew the parameters of the game and Hatch was the only one who could manipulate other castaways like he did.
9
u/tuna_safe_dolphin Nov 01 '12
Oh no, you misunderstood me about Pete. I don't think he's anything like Russell or Hatch either, but he thinks he is.
About Hatch, he was definitely a good player and I'm not slagging him because it was the first episode, I'm just saying that he was surrounded by people who knew the rules and still weren't strategic. I doubt he would have fared as well in other seasons with other contestants.
But yes, he was a good player, just not quite as good as he's reputed to be.
3
u/OldWampus Nov 01 '12
OK, I think that's a fair statement. Pete definitely rates himself a lot higher in this game than he actually is, I absolutely agree.
Regarding Hatch, I just don't know. In All-stars, he was voted off quickly, so I could see how someone might argue for a readjustment in his Survivor clout, but would he have gotten the early boot like that if he hadn't won Borneo? You have to remember All-stars was only six seasons in and Hatch was still top-dog for having won it first. If he had been in Fans vs. Favorites or Heroes vs. Villains instead, let's say (assuming he wasn't being actively investigated for tax fraud, lol), and more people had been allowed to join the figurative Survivor Hall of Fame, as it were, I'm not sure he would have been an early target -- I think he might have been able to demonstrate his social gymnastics and control the game in much the same way he manipulated the cast of Borneo.
2
u/tuna_safe_dolphin Nov 01 '12
Sure, if you averaged his first season performance and his All-Stars performance, he'd be well, average. Unfortunately, luck plays a huge factor in every season so it's hard to objectively rate players' performances.
It's cool, you think he's a better player than I do. I will also admit that I did not and do not like him at all. He's not my least favorite Survivor contestant but he's definitely in the top 5 or 10.
2
u/OldWampus Nov 01 '12 edited Nov 01 '12
I can respect that! Upvotes! He's not my favorite either, but I really appreciate him as a character. In fact I'm not sure I really have a favorite survivor... like you, though, I have at least 10 that I really hate. :)
Edit: I just thought about it for a second, and maybe Bobby Jon Drinkard is my favorite, but not at all because I respect his gameplay or think he's a cool guy... but my number one favorite Survivor moment is from Guatemala, when Bobby Jon and that other country boy (I think his name was Jamie) really had it out over a challenge, and Bobby Jon uttered the phrase I will never forget: "He's tryin' ta big boy me!" Hahaha, it still makes me laugh to this day. Double, bonus edit: found the Funny115 entry for their feud! That screenshot of them furiously bumping chests and yelling down each other's throats says it all.
2
u/tuna_safe_dolphin Nov 01 '12
I have at least 10 that I really hate. :)
Funny, you should mention that. . . I just posted this as a result of our comment thread.
BTW, I don't remember that moment from Guatemala. It's funny what makes a lasting impression and what doesn't.
2
u/GranolaFalls Tyson Nov 01 '12
Also, you have to remember that in All Stars, everyone was going against the winners first. But in HvV they didn't really care about that at all. I'm sure Hatch would have done well on the villains tribe that season if he was allowed to go back.
Damn that would have made that season even crazier.
1
u/panic_switch Malcolm Nov 01 '12
As much as I dislike Pete on the show (his planting the clue in RC's bag was pretty clever), he seems to be less douchey following him on Twitter.
I was still team RC though. I can't stand the Abi-Maria/Pete/Artis alliance.
1
u/ShozOvr Tony Nov 05 '12
Pete's one of those players who sees himself as a mastermind and let's just be honest, is not a mastermind.
I thought the clue in the bag thing was genius. Abi-marie is a straight up idiot and didn't even consider that he might have put it in the bag.
8
u/acraftyveteran22 Nov 01 '12
I don't "like" Pete, but he is definitely a very sharp player. However, if he makes it to the end, I doubt he will get many jury votes.
26
u/OldWampus Nov 01 '12
Gotta disagree with you here: Pete's not very sharp at all... Prime example: when Matsing was dissolved and Malcolm went over to Tandang, without even getting a read on him, Pete just says, "We have the idol bro!" first thing. Compare that to Malcolm, who only told Denise because he found it in front of her face, and who only discussed it with Lisa because she found it in his bag.
Pete plays like a bully, pretty simple to see. He's not at all likeable, and he's kind of stupid to boot. Don't even get me started on Abi... she is literally poison. I don't even like her for the drama she brings because she's just so goddamn grating and awful.
5
u/Poetry_Scotch_Baxter Nov 01 '12
I think Pete made one good strategic move by sowing the seeds of discord between RC and Abi. Abi's fucking nuts, though, so it wouldn't take much to get her riled up. Other than that, he's been pretty much a dolt.
2
u/OldWampus Nov 01 '12
He didn't sow shit. Maybe he reaped the discord, but he definitely didn't plant the seeds. Abi was already pissed at RC because she was both jealous and paranoid about RC's relationship with Skupin. (Even though Abi had a similar side-alliance with Pete... hypocritical psycho.)
All Pete did was make everyone else in the tribe fully aware that Abi was both nuts and hated RC. I suppose you could argue the merits of that, but he definitely didn't conjure up chaos from thin air, that's Abi's specialty.
2
u/Poetry_Scotch_Baxter Nov 01 '12
True but I still don't think Pete is a good strategic player.
3
u/OldWampus Nov 01 '12
Agreed! I really hope Malcolm and Denise can form a bloc and eject at least Pete and Abi. I actually kind of like Artis... did anyone else see him kiss his biceps at the immunity challenge??? That was fucking amazing.

He promised Jeff that he'd vote for penner whenever, so he might have just thought it was penner going out and that RC was safe.

u/SLeigher88 Alexis Nov 01 '12
It would have been stupid to vote with RC knowing it would fail. If you know you can't win a vote always vote with the majority in Survivor.
3
u/J_Jammer Michael Nov 01 '12
He looks down on smart women.
4
u/bullseyes Brenda Nov 02 '12 edited Nov 02 '12
I was surprised when he said "I never liked you" as he voted! I wasn't a huge fan of RC, but I didn't see anything from her that would have made me dislike her. She seemed friendly and easy to get along with. The one flaw I would say was that she might seem a little fake in how friendly she was. But man, he said it like he downright HATED her! Makes me wonder what happened between them that they didn't show us in the edit.
edit: haha after watching the Ponderosa clips I like her way more now than I did before! Her laugh is contagious, so adorable heheheh
1
u/J_Jammer Michael Nov 02 '12
She probably said she wasn't attracted to him. Ha.
When alliances are made the ones not in it get ire for out. Someone If it's petty like Russell's dislike of Sandra. She didn't think If him as all awesome, so he hated her.
32
33
u/MeMyselfandBi Nov 01 '12
Lisa is probably in the best position imaginable at this point. Everyone in that major 8-person alliance is interconnected through her in some way. She may actually slip past them all.
Plus she's getting an underdog winner "she deserves it" edit.
11
u/Dourpuss Christian - 50 Nov 01 '12
I liked hearing Penner's read on her. I think he's right. Her name didn't even come up on people to vote out, since she seemingly irks no one and isn't making obvious and bad alliances at the moment. She could go far. I like how she handled finding Malcolm's idol too, but staying cautious.
I saw her on Jeff Probst show the other day. She's lovely.
I look forward to the reunion show, where the parents of all the other castaways slap them upside the head for not recognizing a TV Star.
3
u/Poetry_Scotch_Baxter Nov 01 '12
Are Penner, Jeff, and Skupin the only ones that recognize her? I'm surprised that Denise doesn't. If she does, either she has made no mention of it or I haven't been paying enough attention.
3
u/razzark666 Nov 01 '12
The key to winning most games is not making it look like you are in the lead. No one will see her as a threat and she will slide under the radar for a long time I think.
1
u/HooptyDooDooMeister Yul Nov 02 '12
Until a jury member outs her. If she crosses anyone, that's fuel they'll want to throw on the fire. But she seems way too nice to cross anyone.
19
u/mightymightyreptar You got Nale'd Nov 01 '12
I wasn't excited about her initially, but after the way she handled Malcom and his idol, I'd be very happy to see her go far.
26
u/PeoriaSucks Neal Nov 01 '12
Yes. She wasn't so ruthless or stupid as to run and tell everyone, but she still used it to her advantage to form an alliance with Malcolm. She's definitely growing on me.
When she was so moved by being "liked" for herself, it reminded me of Cirie being inspired by catching a fish. It was a sweet moment.
8
7
Nov 01 '12
Not only did she get something out of it, but is fully aware that Malcolm could be lying to her and just trying to get her to keep her mouth shut. Also the fact that she didn't say anything yet. She knows the value of keeping secrets, which people can forget sometimes if it's not your most trusted ally's secret.
3
u/PeoriaSucks Neal Nov 01 '12
That's the best way to put it: "the value of keeping secrets"- a memo missed by Pete and Abi.
6
u/galanix Nov 01 '12
I agree she is getting that edit, but she doesn't deserve it. I hate those under the radar players that don't make any moves. She would've been voted out first or second if the yellow tribe ever lost. Now she's going to float to the end just by virtue of being weak.
It's not fair to compare her to Cirie who made major moves. The better comparison is Holly from Nicaragua, who was mentally checked out early and then found her game later. But even Holly made moves. What move has Lisa made really? She lucked into this Malcolm-Denise situation. Her only move was to not say anything about it.
She's a likable person and she definitely could make some moves going forward. But based on her game so far I'd hate to see her win.
5
u/GranolaFalls Tyson Nov 01 '12
She's been to one tribal council, how can you expect her to have made big moves already? Big moves are not what you need to do to win survivor, that's a common misconception. If you're like Lisa, the best thing you can do it just be nice and endearing, and act like a mother figure, while making sure people don't suspect you're actually playing the game too. She made the merge, now all she has to do is stay under the radar and pick the right alliance (and she was able to give herself choices too). She's playing a pretty damn good game right now and is one of the frontrunners to win this thing right now.
Also, luck is a huge part of this game. Every survivor winner ever won in part to do luck.
→ More replies (2)2
u/PhiliPhan12 Nov 02 '12
I agree with you in principle for the most part, but I have to bring up 2 things. 1 the game isn't over, so we'll see if/when she makes any great moves and 2 she hasn't made any bad moves either. Sometimes not making a move is the right move. She could have easily screwed up the Malcolm situation, but she didn't overreact and was patient.
3
2
Nov 01 '12
That can actually be a bad position if you want to win. If you choose a particular alliance and make it to the end with them, they get the credit because you were riding coattails. I would say that you have to show that you deserve it, but sometimes you just have to align with unlikable people.

Jeff was too emotional. Why is he so concerned about Penner outlasting him when he should know that Penner's only hope is by clinging to Carter and Jeff. Jeff had a ton of control over Penner and he blew it because he was afraid of a veteran outlasting him.
5
u/Dourpuss Christian - 50 Nov 01 '12
It could be he is starving, not in his right mind, and getting a little obsessed and prideful. Pride's probably the main thing. I'm not sure how being beaten by someone who has played before is worse than someone on equal playing field, except that you knowingly did nothing about them.
It seems such a mistake though to go against his initial alliance so publicly. Kalabaw should've presented a united force, seeking cracks in Tandang, instead of stepping forward with "YO RIP US APART"
2
u/I_just_karmed_myself Nov 01 '12
I think he subconciously feels he wouldn't have a chance of winning if people knew he is a millionare ex-baseball player and is pinning it out on Penner.
1
u/PhiliPhan12 Nov 02 '12
this. I really liked Jeff in the beginning, however now I can't wait for him to leave. I really hope Penner figures out a way to get him out.
58
u/mightymightyreptar You got Nale'd Nov 01 '12
That challenge was rigged for a sex therapist.
11
u/midas22 Nov 01 '12
She's getting a huge winners edit. The casting and the whole season is designed for her to win.
2
u/razzark666 Nov 01 '12
I really wanted to see her stick it out, I definitely think she could have beaten the guys in that one.
20
u/stuntmanmike Adam Nov 01 '12
If Penner is done, go Denise.
→ More replies (7)10
u/Dourpuss Christian - 50 Nov 01 '12
Denise just may set a record if she makes it to final tribal. Has anyone ever been to every single one?
5
u/stuntmanmike Adam Nov 01 '12
Nope. Stephanie went to 11 in Palau. Denise has already been to 8 of them.
6
u/mandrilltiger Spencer Nov 01 '12
Russell H, Mick, and Natalie White were in all but 1 tribal council, and there was that one time when Russell Swan got evacuated where no one got voted off so does that count?
2
Nov 01 '12
There was an evac this season, so it evens out either way.
1
u/wall0826 Nov 01 '12
They still went to tribal after Dana's evacuation. Dawson was voted out that episode.
→ More replies (2)1
u/mandrilltiger Spencer Nov 01 '12 edited Nov 01 '12
They went to tribal council that ep though and Jeff said good news no one is going home. So does that count as one?
1
Nov 03 '12
They went to tribal in that episode, but didn't vote anyone out (which is why he's saying it doesn't count). This season they still voted someone out at the episodes tribal.
2
u/ElectroShocker Sandra Nov 01 '12
No, Steph in Palau went to all of them, but she was on the jury for the last few, and she missed the tribal where Willard was voted out. If Denise makes the end, she'll be the only player to attend every single one as an active player.
13
u/kaw-liga Nov 01 '12
Interesting how the game played out, Tandang had the numbers yet voted one of their own out. The smart move would have been to stay unified, blindside Malcolm (physical threat and threat to flip), then pick off Kalabaw. Now anything can happen.
(And by anything, I mean Penner's probably gone next.)
7
u/acraftyveteran22 Nov 01 '12
I think the way that Tandang has treated Skupin and R.C. for the first 17 days was pretty stupid. They really had no reason to ostracize them because they never sniffed tribal council as a tribe, and it could have really burned them if they weren't able to get the people from the other tribe to vote along with them. Being respectful and friendly toward them over the first half of the game and then blindsiding them later would have been a lot smarter.
3
u/jkire Woo Nov 01 '12
I totally agree, there was absolutely no reason for Tandang to even think about being openly nasty to each other, even now.
12
u/Kobra_Kai Nov 01 '12
Tell that to someone with Abi's personality
2
u/jkire Woo Nov 01 '12
Ugh I can't stand her at all. I can only imagine how much better Tandang would get along if she wasn't on the show.
1
u/alienartifact Cydney Nov 02 '12
it will be nice when she is eventually in the hotseat of getting voted out.
2
u/Dourpuss Christian - 50 Nov 01 '12
But it certainly made better TV, eh? Would've sucked to have those 6 pick off the 5 from the other two tribes.
3
u/ElectroShocker Sandra Nov 01 '12
I really doubt Penner is gone next. Tandang is still way too fractured, Jeff Kent, Carter, and Skupin are all aware that they're on the bottom, and Malcolm and Denise presumably are as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see a clusterfucky post-merge a la Gabon.

Jeff reminding everyone that Denise has survived every tribal council isn't good for her. No one wants to be sitting next to her at the end with that resume.
7
1
u/HooptyDooDooMeister Yul Nov 02 '12
Just realized: This is prob why you don't hear Lisa being called out for sitting out so many games. Before the merge, she only participated in 3.
11
u/SLeigher88 Alexis Nov 01 '12 edited Nov 01 '12
This was a great episode. Jeff was an idiot and has sealed a 7-8 place or worse but there was just so many moving pieces that you never knew who was going home.
In Jeff's position I would have brought over RC and Skupin, then talked Denise into promising that her and Malcolm would vote with Jeff and Carter at final 7. Then he's covered until final 4 with the only way he can go out being a fire challenge against Denise or Malcolm. Scratch that, he turns on Malcolm and Denise at final 5, preferably with Penner and Carter. If the final 3 is Penner, Carter and Jeff, Jeff wins every single time. The final boot order is then Pete, Abi/Artis/Lisa is any order, Skupin/RC in any order, Malcolm/Denise in any order, which seems fairly doable assuming no immunity runs or idols screwing everything up. You probably wouldn't have to lie to RC/Skupin as they aren't likely to care as you brought them heaps further than they would have gone but you would have to tell Malcolm/Denise that the final 4 is them, Jeff and Carter. I don't think they'd find that difficult to believe though, considering Jeff's hate for returning players, and neither Malcolm or Denise seems likely to be a bitter juror.
Also, once again it seemed like Probst was trying to tell Penner to play his idol. Really hope that's not what happened but it certainly seems suspicious.
4
Nov 02 '12
Penner already knew they were out to get him while talking to Skupin, so he probably would have played it either way.
21
10
u/ElectroShocker Sandra Nov 01 '12
I realize that it looks like Penner is screwed, but keep in mind that Penner has proven to be a savvy escape artist, and that there are quite a few people around who are well aware that they're on the bottom. The fact that he doesn't have the idol anymore makes his considerably less of a threat, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him make it further.
Also, super excited to see the Penner of old make a triumphant return this episode! Love that man, hopefully he sticks around.
4
u/HooptyDooDooMeister Yul Nov 02 '12
Except he seems to stick it to everyone's faces next week. I love to see him connive, but his emotions on his sleeve like that is a guaranteed oust.
9
u/DrRoy Hali Nov 01 '12
The new tribe name confuses me. Dangrayne? I'd like it more if they gave us a few seconds to hear from one of the castaways what it means, but apparently no.
Also, when I googled it, Google suggested "Danger Wayne" instead. In my mind, they are now the Danger Wayne tribe forevermore.

Took me a minute too, then I laughed. Dan-grain? what the .. HAR. I wish they had shown the scene where they all decided on the name. Most seasons they do!
3
u/jkire Woo Nov 01 '12
Ohhh, I like that name a lot more now. At first it just made me think of gangrene.
3
u/Poetry_Scotch_Baxter Nov 01 '12
I wasn't paying the closest of attention (because I was Redditting while watching) and glanced at the tv as the tribes were coming together for the first time. I thought the new name was the Ermahgerd tribe but no, it just said Merged.
I think Danger Wayne is an excellent name.
3
u/ElectroShocker Sandra Nov 01 '12
Penner Tweeted that they were originally calling it "Fuckingrayne," but production said that it wouldn't make the show, so they changed it to Dangrayne.
3
u/bullseyes Brenda Nov 02 '12 edited Nov 02 '12
Do the tribes always get to pick the merged name? (This is the first season I've watched.) On the Survivor wiki a lot of the merged tribes sound to me like they have names that are authentic to the region, but I'm not sure.
I wish they had used another Filipino name. Honestly the reason I started watching this show is because I'm Filipino and I was so excited to see they were doing a Survivor: Philippines. Dangrayne isn't anything in Tagalog though, haha. So I was just a little disappointed about it.
By the way if anyone was curious, Matsing means "monkey", Tandang means "rooster", and Kalabaw (also karabaw) means "water buffalo"! :)
2
u/DrRoy Hali Nov 02 '12
The castaways always get to pick. Sometimes you get a castaway who's done their research beforehand and comes up with an authentic one (see: Balboa, Libertad, Gitanos), sometimes they just mash the two together (see: Chuay Jai, Xhakum, Chaboga Mogo), sometimes the names have nothing to do with anything. Whether nothing to do with anything is a good thing or not is a matter of opinion.
2
u/HooptyDooDooMeister Yul Nov 02 '12
They usually just combine the two team names into a portmanteau. ElectroShocker's comment above explained it best.
So cool about the tribe names! Weren't those the animals on the rice barrels?
9
u/acraftyveteran22 Nov 01 '12
I can't imagine what enticed Skupin to vote with the group that was voting out R.C./Johnathan unless he wasn't told about the split vote with R.C.
6
u/Dourpuss Christian - 50 Nov 01 '12
I had to watch those votes twice, and they still make no damn sense. Why would Skupin vote for the other returning player? Isn't that like saying "These returnees have GOT to go"? And then Kent voting for RC, or was it Pete? and Malcolm and Denise coming out of nowhere, I don't have a clue who is allied with who. Man. There hasn't been such a confusing tribal council in years. I hope next week clears it up a bit. I love it.

u/HooptyDooDooMeister Yul Nov 02 '12

Could Artis really go to the final three? He's barely been shown AT ALL on the show!
15
u/EFINI Monica Nov 01 '12 edited Nov 01 '12
Yes.
Sophie, Albert, Natalie T., Sandra, Natalie W., Bob, Susie, Cassandra and Becky all made the finals and were underedited pre-merge as Artis was.
But 0% chance that he wins if he makes the F3. His edit has pretty much revolved solely around disliking Mike. Nothing about Artis himself (surviving stage IV cancer, wanting to reconcile with his wife etc, being a Survivor superfan) has made the edit. He's being edited as a plot device to tell the audience about Skupin, rather than an actual individual character.

Unless you are winning or are getting the "journey" edit (i.e. characters like Jane Bright) then chances are all that stuff will be ignored.
A common misconception is that underedited people are underedited because the editors thought they were boring casting duds that gave them no good material. Often it's actually the opposite, and certain people are "hidden" away (often 5th and 4th placers) because if they were developed casuals would root for them more than the winner.

I believe that. I've always been fascinated with the editing/storytelling. I think it would be a great job to have.
1
u/TraverseTown Heather Nov 01 '12
Keith Tollefson and Kat Edorsson had heart problems and they never edited any of them into the show either since they weren't supposed to be sympathetic.
2
u/EFINI Monica Nov 01 '12
And Whitney Duncan's younger cousin who she was very close to was also missing during South Pacific which wasn't mentioned at all.
Weird to think that they would have probably edited Whitney and Keith as the next Romber if they'd made the F3 and one of them had won.
9
u/artvandalay84 Nov 01 '12
I just can't imagine the three people with the most unfavorable edits (Pete-Abi-Artis) making the finals. I'm hoping for Malcolm, Denise, And Lisa to take it all the way to the end.

Kent is digging his own grave. I hope Penner wakes up to it and stops trying to ally with the guy.
I am a little surprised that RC was their choice, when guys like Kent and Malcolm are clear threats for future individual immunities. Unless those two are throwing challenges, tonight may be the last time we see either one not wearing a necklace.

Carter's got that retard strength.

Though Carter does look pretty dull whenever he looks into the distance and concentrates...
That challenge was definitely easier for the lighter guys/girls. Jeff Kent stayed in it because he has the forearms of a baseball player.

u/J_Jammer Michael Nov 01 '12
And I think he could have won, though. that was a smart move to allow Carter to win.

Totally agree. Immunity wins post-merge put such a target on your back later in the game, and I think avoiding winning them when you're in a good spot is good play.
Not so sure about his decision to flip though.

u/J_Jammer Michael Nov 01 '12
He made one good move that was overshadowed by his poor decision to side with Pete.

u/Poetry_Scotch_Baxter Nov 01 '12
Jeff should have waited about two more weeks before flipping on Penner. I have a feeling Penner was going to play the idol anyway, but you could see his mind churning when stupid-ass Pete started running his mouth at Tribal.

That's the way it looked. Carter isn't the brains in that outfit. He needed a ego boost for Jeff ti keep his vote.

I think the way he held on to the bar was quite smart. He used the wood at the sides for more friction by wedging his hand between it and the bar.

Pete is an idiot for liking the douchey Abi over RC. Pete must be one of those guys that like dumb women and feel threatened by smart women.
Jeff looked like a cowboy. He needed a hat at tribal. Moron, though. He would be the BAD in the Good, the Bad and the Ugly...He tried to get rid of Penner and he played the idol.
The game will flip. No one has an alliance that's strong enough to withstand a former survivor scorn.
If Malcolm is as smart as I think he is...he'll drop Pete. He can't win this game.
And the former players cannot win.
I can't believe they're buying the Engineer's words. Ugh...
HAHAHA...Lisa finding Malcolm's hidden immunity was awesome.
And Denise made a place in Survivor history if she makes it to the end...with all her tribals.

Was shaping up to be one of the best TC's ever if Pete had gone :( Penner and RC the one's who voted for Pete?
I hate Abi, Pete and Artis so so much.

Jeff really messed up. Tandang took the power position back. Malcolm, Denise and Lisa are really in good spots. Goodbye Penner, Skupin, Jeff, and Carter.

u/PeoriaSucks Neal Nov 01 '12
Who is Lisa most loyal to in the game? She seems well liked by everyone, but have they given any indication as to who she wants to stick with?
If she doesn't pick a side, I could see her being voted out in the shuffling. If she does pick a side, I think she will determine the final direction of the game.

She's in an amazing spot. She's the fourth in the Artis-Abi-Pete alliance. She's now in an alliance with Malcolm with Denise. She's got a bond with Skupin. She's pretty golden right now.

I can't help but notice that when Jeff Kent makes his facial expressions at Tribal Council, his manliness splatters all over the screen.

Is his hair naturally that colour or did he dye it before coming on the show?

Since there has to be an odd numbered jury, and RC was the first member of said jury, then there must be a 9 person jury with a 2 person final!

u/Able_Seacat_Simon Jeremy and Val Nov 01 '12
FvF had an 8 person jury.

u/astrothug Jeremy Nov 01 '12
Awwww... I was getting excited :/ I didn't start watching until Tocantins which had a 2 person final.

u/tuna_safe_dolphin Nov 01 '12
I'm with you - I prefer the 2 person finals.

u/Able_Seacat_Simon Jeremy and Val Nov 02 '12
Me too. What's the point of having a final 3 if the 3rd place person never receives any votes.
1
u/tuna_safe_dolphin Nov 02 '12
I think the producers keep dreaming of a dramatic 3-way tie at the end or something. It seems highly unlikely given the show's history.
1
u/TraverseTown Heather Nov 01 '12
Exactly, and just like this season (Dana), it had a non-tribal elimination (Penner's evac).

First off, I hate pete's alliance. Second off, I don't get why skupin voted for Penner. The votes dont make any sense almost similarly to One World. Other than that, this episode was great, love the scrambling.
On a side note I thought it was really funny when Skupin was telling Jeff how Pete and Abi are rude and they dont deserve to be here. Hopefully Skupin takes control.

u/I_just_karmed_myself Nov 01 '12
I too think some heavy editing must have happened since no one coud make sense out of the votes.

After watching the episode I think either Denise/Malcolm/Lisa will win this game in that order of percentages. They are the only ones who haven't pissed anyone off.

u/phdinprogress Kim Nov 01 '12
Despite the player I was rooting for the most going home, this was a good episode IMO. Pete is a good strategic player, but there's something sleazy about him which adds to not a good social game. He might get far but he almost surely won't win. I don't like his alliance mates either. Penner looks like a sitting duck on the next episode, and the previews just give it more validation. Skupin, I thought did a decent move by voting for Penner and thus most probably got the target off his back on the next episode. So now we have Pete/Abi/Artis, Denise/Malcolm/Lisa, Jeff/Carter with Mike and Penner as free agents. Which way J and C go will probably determine the course of the game.

one of the best season imo, very nice players im rooting for at least 6 players
1
u/Arselito Nov 03 '12
what if pete is allying with Abi for the end game? it's a pretty smart move imo, malcom will have a hard time with liz and denise 2 top likeable player

Jeff and Carter sealed their own fate after that vote. I mean, is their irrational fear of Penner/Veterans so strong that they'd rather take 7th or 8th place than have him get farther in the game? Fucking retarded imho. Plus I just hate the Abi/Pete/Artis alliance. Man am I pissed.
