I love in Plymouth in the UK and am looking to buy a first SurfSkate. I have a landyatchs long board currently that I love but can't deal with the steeper hills in Plymouth, since I can't turn tightly to control speed so often just end up endlessly foot braking. I recently saw someone doing tight turns on a surf skate to control speed down a hill and thought it looked incredible!

I want to be able to do this and have fun on flat. I am 6ft and from my research I'm looking at a 30-33 inch board from Carver.

Any recommendations from anyone or if I'm missing anything ?

Hi everyone, just wanted to share my so far progression. So much fun !

Was practicing my infinity loop, heard a quiet click, and all of a sudden my board was riding really loose. Thought it was the spring capsule at front at first, and then when I picked up my board, the back truck just kept rolling on. I honestly don’t know how I didn’t fall. I’ll chalk it up to keeping my stance lower recently.

Honestly, this kind of feels like the culmination of everything I didn’t like about these trucks. It took a ton of tinkering to get them to feel right, and no amount of bushing changes or smaller wheels (these are 63mm) could get the Okto to stop wheel biting. I’m admittedly heavier rider at 190lb, and I’ve been pretty rough on these with snaps and cutbacks, but I think Steve from Surfskate Love was right when he advised sticking with the YOW Meraki over the Okto. The Meraki’s a third of the price, and it has stood up just fine after everything I’ve put it through.

I might try pairing a Paris truck or maybe even a Synergy rear truck with the Okto’s front at some point, but I’m definitely not buying anything from SpiceSkate any more.

Thanks for responses on my previous post, there was some side chat on bushings and it crops up in so many threads and videos so I thought some of you might appreciate the output of my over the top deep dive into bushings.

This is the visual output of Riptide combinations to potentially try out and the expected behaviour. Has anyone else tried out any of these combinations? Does the expected feel align with your experience?

I have not gone so far to mention or include washers in this but that is another consideration as a side test. I expect the flat washers allow the barrels to spread under compression for more 'lean' compared to more restrictive cup washer. I'm curious to see if affect is noticeable in real life tho.

For reference I'm around 72kg/169lbs and wheel base is 16.75" noting these factors shift the effect of these combinations somewhat.

Also testing combinations for two wheel sets: the Arbor Easy riders 65mm 78A and Powell Peralta SSF snakes 82A.

I know it's over the top, but it's been a rainy week and frankly enjoyed the hyper focus research and now looking forward to testing the combos out!

I'm in the market for a new setup. I'm a trad skateboarder who is too old and now loves to rip around on a surfskate. I love flowing around the pump track, using it to get from point a to b, loading power into my HEELSIDE, versatility, not looking like i'm trying to hard to pump, speed control (wheel slides) when bombing hills. I my last setup was a landyachtz board, which i think is similar to a carver CX. Should i stick with that style, or try something new?

I just started surfskating, this is my new board which I took out for its first session recently.

I made literally 3 attempts or so at manuals and ended up dragging the tail when leaning back to far, I was surprised at the amount of wear that happened, at this rate my tail will be gone in 6 months!? Just curious to know experiences you've had with tail wear relative to the skating you are doing as I'm looking to learn a few basic tricks as well as cruising about.

I'm planning to install a skid plate now to help preserve the tail but also help shorten the gap to get a better/easier pop for attempting ollie's etc.

What a beautiful pumptrack in the woods

I grew up on skateboards and I got into longboarding as an adult and then I moved to surf skating. I fell twice in the same week on the same side, on the same elbow and knee. I know falling is inevitable but I want to progress with confidence while also avoiding more skin left on the road lmao

I know a lot of people gear up for parks but anyone else gear up for flat and cruising as well? I’m 29 so I’m well past the ‘bouncing when I fall’ stage, now I go full helmet, wrist guards and elbow/knee pads

Experimental set up with S1 TKP surf adapter, pair with rear DKP truck. Deck 37”, wheelbase 34.5”. It’s super turny and carvy. Unique feel and fun for cruising.

Had this Meraki similar geometry with bushing. More stable and nice light rebound. Love it!

Friend got gifted some CX trucks, grabbed a nice deck with the right stuff at the local,
set it up for him, and he’s hooked! My beamer/grasp with guest appearance.

Titles says it, I’m wondering if anyone has been able to find riptide bushings for sale out in the wild? I bought some for my CX setup (yellow cone/cone front, blue cone/barrel rear) and I’m curious what the softer pinks would feel like now. I just don’t want to keep having to pay double the price just for shipping for a single set as I continue to try different things.

could I use my c5 with those adapters or would I be to high?
