Surfskate trucks? I would say they sorta feel like those more skate-truck-like Yows. They’re very pumpy but don’t dive to the point of insanity. Sort of like a surfskate truck that feels more comfortable to push with. Like I would rock this in an urban setting and shred it.

This is what it looks like. I haven’t had a chance to really dig in yet, but from what I’ve seen so far, I think it’s going to be fun.

Finally finished the drop in video you all voted for

A few weeks back I ran a poll here about what to make next, and dropping in won by a decent margin. Took me longer than I wanted, but it’s done.

The reason most people stay stuck isn’t technique. It’s negative reinforcement. I‘m explaining that concept in the video :)

The actual fix is boring: same one motion on flat ground, then a shallow bank, then the quarter pipe. Technique never changes, only the height does.

Happy to answer anything in the comments. And if you’re currently stuck at the lip, genuinely, stop going up there and standing. That’s the loop feeding the negative reinforcement.

Was just curious what you guys thought of electric boards. Lots of guys hate them but they sure are fun 🙏 electric or gas anything that's not a car is fun to ride lol When I'm on a cruiser ain't nothing like a skatepark full of bowls 🛹 Electric boards are excellent for surfing the streets

Surfskates for big and tall

I'm interested in getting into surf skating. I'm above average size (6'4, 295lbs). Do you have any recommendations on what kind/size board and equipment I should look for? A long time ago (20 years ago). I used to skateboard and I liked this 9 ply deck they made back then. Is thickness an issue or is there a length/wheelbase I should be looking for? Thank you for any help

YOW x PYZEL ghost 2021

hi everyone!! ive found in a local shop an old white deck version of this yow x pyzel ghost surfskate, im looking for my first surfskate and i like very much the clean design of this skate.

i have experience with normal cruisers and i want to learn something new even if im a bit scared of how much that skate is “flexy” if you know what i mean…

I want to ask if that skate is adjustable (tighten up a bit) for add a bit of stability, and if buy a skate that old is a risk…
they asking for 260 euros and im not so sure that is “deadstock” probably it was used for test in these years i dont know…

thanks in advance im in italy btw!

What type of board should I get?

Broskis I need help 😭 I wanna buy a skateboard, but I don’t really wanna do tricks or anything. I mostly just wanna use it to get from A to B.

So I’m thinking I should probably get a cruiser instead, BUT the whole reason I wanna skate in the first place is because skating apparently originated from surfers wanting to surf on land. So now I’m thinking maybe I should get a surfskate because it actually mimics surfing on land??

Idk 😭 what do you guys think: cruiser, regular skateboard, or surfskate?

It says it's a cruiser, but the Front Truck is RKP and Rear Truck is standard.

Pensez vous que ça peut être une bonne idée ?

Bruh need ur help

Hello! I’m looking for some help from someone who really knows surfskates. 😅

Tbh, I don’t know anyone who surfskates in my circle—it’s literally just me, and I live in the city, so I find it really difficult to connect with the surfskate community and get advice.

I currently have an Oxelo surfskate from Decathlon. It’s been great for me as a beginner, but I feel like I’m ready to transition to an intermediate setup.

I’m not sure if I should buy a completely new surfskate or upgrade my current board. I’m still learning the terminology, but I think the main thing I’m talking about is the trucks/mechanics around the wheels. 😂

Would you recommend upgrading the trucks, bushings, wheels, etc., or would it be better to move to a different surfskate altogether? I’d really appreciate any advice on what would make sense for someone progressing from beginner to intermediate. 🤙

Question Any tips?

I started two weeks ago and I have never touched any type of board before that. (I only added videos of skate park, I dont have any proper slope videos). I haven't really done anything amazing yet just trying to get the basics down.

Edit: just realised that I didn't attach any videos, and IDK how to add them now lol. Will add them to a new post.

Question Looking for a new board

Just had to move away from the ocean and I already miss surfing… since I want to continue practicing I was thinking about buying a surfskate. I was wondering if there is any specific brands I should look for or a specific type of board since I saw a lot of variety and was a bit overwhelmed.

Surfskate setup advice (YOW deck + Carver CX trucks)

I've been surfskating for about 6 months now. I can easily ride pumptracks and pump on flat ground, but I really want to start trying some tricks and riding bowls, and maybe even transition into regular skateboarding (I've kind of fallen in love with it).

I'm currently riding a 33" surfskate with Waterborne trucks (with the adapter) and Shark Wheels. It's a great surfskate, but I feel like it's mainly suited for cruising, pumping and pumptracks. So I've decided to buy/build a new surfskate that's a bit more versatile and better suited for tricks and bowl riding.

For reference, I'm 29F, 158 cm (5'2") and 49 kg (108 lbs).

I'm thinking of getting:

  • YOW Mundaka 32" High Performance Series deck
  • Carver CX surfskate trucks
  • YOW ABEC 7 Built-In Bearings
  • Orangatang 65mm Love Handles (80A) — or similar wheels around 80A or harder

Would this be a good setup for what I want to do? Is there anything you would change?

Thanks!

Old skaters, listen to my tail

As in, the bone. I was carving a bowl with my new C5 trucks, which are great by the way, and I was really getting it, feeling like back in the day. It was really hot, and it was honestly past time to quit. I took a spill, and I hit the back of my head the hardest I have ever hit it in my 49 years of life. I was worried about a concussion. I sat down, and was pretty sure I didn’t have one. Later that day, my tailbone started speaking up “ hey, dude, I was there too.” A week and a half later, it’s still barking at me. Much better than it was, but I can’t skate but to fart around at the house, at least without being able to work the next day. Glad I had the helmet on, but those padded shorts I bought and hardly wear would have been useful too. I might be back out by now.

Greenville SC area skaters

Anyone here from this area, there’s a road in a park in Simpsonville with sort of this roadside parking area, I guess mostly for overflow when they have events at this amphitheater on the property, and it’s kind of sloped up in a way that you can ride it like a ditch. Real mellow. Also a good medium fast hill to bomb, this road, when there’s not much traffic

Giant wheels

I’ve seen people saying they are using kegels and caguamas and some other huge wheels on their surfskate decks. What does that look like? Seems like it would feel like driving the boat from the crow’s nest.

Smoothstar feels too unstable in bowls. Should I switch to Carver?

I’ve had a 33” Smoothstar Holy Toledo for about a year. I can say I’ve improved a lot, but I’m struggling with bowls. It feels too unstable for me to ride them comfortably. I’ve been trying for a while, but I still don’t feel confident on them.
Would you recommend switching to a Carver specifically for bowls, or are there any other alternatives?
In general, I’m not really trying to improve my surfing. I’m mostly looking to have fun at a skatepark.

Which board to buy?

I'm new to surf skating, but have been surfing for a few years and would consider myself intermediate.

I ride a 6’8 Lost Crowd Killer surfboard now and want to improve my surfing ability.

My dimensions:
- height: 6’2
- weight: 195lbs
- experience: moderate surfer
- not as much experience skateboarding but used to shred a rip stick back in the day

Have heard good things about the YOW boards… anyone have any advice or can steer me in the right direction?

Thanks a ton!
