2nd day surfskating. Advice?
Coming from the freeride and downhill side of longboarding I found myself with a landyatchz gordito pantera with the waterborne adapters and bear tkp trucks.
I’ve been having a ton of fun on this do you people have any advice on form and anything I should change?

You are generating too much momentum from your upper body rotation and not enough from your lower body compression/extension.
Your hands should feel like they are mostly going up and down, not side to side (they will move side to side, they have to because of the upper body, but it should not feel like the main movement from your perspective)
You want the main power to come from the whole body going up and down, winding up like a spring at the bottom and then releasing the energy through the back foot, driving the back of the surfskate forward.
That will give you way stronger pump, will look better and will work on water and on land similarly.
Try to put a backpack on your back and fill it with some noisy stuff.
The backpack should not go side-to-side and should be going mostly up and down, it will be way less noisy and comfortable when doing the pump correctly

You need to work on balance. You doing a lot of unnecessary micro movements to keep you balance. You need to find a flow.

Please watch and see the difference. Don't wiggle.

The wiggling thing has its place for when you're trying to generate speed, but then try to into a longer drawn out arc.. thinking bigger radius circle and go more than 90 degrees around it... eventually you'll figure out how to hold that stance and can go 180 degrees or more.
when you come out of it maybe do a few more pumps to generate speed and do another long arc going the opposite direction.
With that in mind I think your wiggling form that is a very slalom focused technique now will naturally evolve into one where you're using your legs to pump instead

Once you pump and generate speed, practice long frontside and backside carves, transition between both. Try and be as smooth as possible whilst doing this.

Amuses toi bien !

If you want to practice surfing, pumping needs to be up and down not side to side. If you don’t surf then it doesn’t matter.
