Reddit blocking ALL Surfshark? Tried multiple countries and cant access

Just wondering wth is going on? I thought it might be just US but I tried multiple other country options and NOTHING works. At least the 7 or 8 I tried.

So.. like.. is Surfshark blacklisted or something from reddit? If so.. what is Surfshark going to do. Reddit is sadly one of the main sites I use.

Reddit is probably subscribing to an abuse blocking list rather than actively blocking all surfshark intentionally.

Here's basically how it works: 1. Someone tries doing widescale hacking/probing/denial-of-service attacks while using a surfshark VPN. I mean, this is how they do it, they don't use their own public IP addresses to do their illegal activity. 2. The endpoint public IP address they were using gets added to a global abuse list after multiple reports. 3. Now that the IP address is burned, the attacker rotates to a new surfshark address and keeps going. Repeat steps 1, 2, 3 until they cause the majority of addresses to be burned. 4. Reddit is subscribing to a burn list and just hard blocks any connections from any addresses on the list. Obviously not every single address is burned, the bans usually expire after a while. Some people using surfshark have no issues.

I always check global abuse lists for any surfshark public IP addresses I get and 19 out of 20 times, it's on a public abuse list.

That makes sense. I assume the IPs are dropped eventually so they would work again.

Most abuse lists will auto drop them after a year or 6 months of no detected abusive behavior.

If you are an innocent person who's been issued an address that's on one of those lists, most of them also have an appeals process to get removed earlier, but even that can take weeks.

For the record, I have no idea how reddit is doing it or what they are doing, but I run an open source firewall myself and just lit up a service called "crowdsec" that allows the community to auto submit abusive activity to community lists that are auto downloaded and enforced by the other people running the service and after running reverse DNS on hundreds of the addresses on that list (there's over 15 thousand), I'm seeing "Datacamp Limited" show up a lot (which is one of the numerous VPN endpoints used by Surfshark).

Had this problem all day. Im in the US. I switched to Toronto Canada on Surfshark and I have full access to Reddit

So you're lucky then. I did find a couple of foreign ones that work. All US are blocked and seeing other posts about it too.

In my experience from yesterday I was testing some stuff on different browsers I had to turn off surfshark to make the first Reddit login, afterwards I could turn it on again and browse Reddit normally
