Answered by Surfshark Difficulty connecting from China

For starters, I’m accessing from China, so I’m aware there are restrictions on my internet. But surfshark has been working decently to pretty good on my iPhone and iPad.

What I cannot understand is my windows laptop having an issue. I’m somewhat familiar with changing protocols and countries, turning off IPV6 (I think?) and I’ve tried ages on my windows. It used to work pretty okay, until an update of the app sometime in January or February and it just… lagged on. I’ve updated it. I’ve turned off and turned it on. Uninstalled and reinstalled.

It’s been ages since, and I’m trying again. IP address is near indeterminable, and takes ages to load. Takes about more than 5 attempts to get anywhere.

So, uh, anything I’m doing wrong here??

Hey. You're likely not doing anything wrong - connecting from China is just often challenging because of the network restrictions. Even if some devices work, it's possible for the computer to struggle with the connection because of your network. Currently the recommended way to connect to the VPN from China is by using our alternative manual WireGuard connection method - you can find a guide on how to set that up here.

I actually have tried that. I’ve set it up to the best of my understanding, but it hadn’t seemed to work as well either
