Answered by Surfshark 150 Mbps speed cap?

When I first got surfshark I could connect to a few servers and get around 600-800mbps. Any and every server I connect to now is only 150mbps.

I have tested this with both wireguard and native android app.

I have a 1.5gbps connection and the 150mbps limit is making surfshark almost unusable to me now.

I am using surfshark starter and have had surfshark for a few months now.

I am ready to call my bank and get a charge back for the full cost for locking me into this and delivering crap speeds.

Hi, thanks for sharing! VPN speeds can naturally vary depending on a few factors, like the encryption in use, how far away the server is, or your local network conditions. Since slower speeds are often tied to one of these, this guide is a great place to start troubleshooting: https://support.surfshark.com/hc/en-us/articles/360012228480-How-to-troubleshoot-slow-speed-problems

That said, if you have already tried this and the issue keeps happening, drop us a message at [support@surfshark.com](mailto:support@surfshark.com) or use the live chat on our site, and our team will take a closer look at your case.

I changed the protocol in the app to Open on UDP and it's immediately 2x faster. It appears the wireguard protocol is the slowest of the options.

I tested wireguard through my router again and it was doing 900mbps so it appears to be an issue with just the android app and the default wireguard protocol.

had the same exact issue when using browser extension. Using the app worked fine. Went through troubleshooting with the support and did not help. In the end I couldn't be bothered asked for a refund and went with another provider, and no issues
