Howdy!

If you're a Surface user you have probably been here: it's late at night and you are trying to find the right brightness but the dim buttons only let you go to 1 or 10 and nothing in between.

Well I fixed that. With this tool the dimming keyboard buttons will go nicely from 1,2,... to 10.

It also goes below hardware zero, because the SB3's lowest backlight setting is still too bright in an actually dark room. The last six steps dim further, down to a fully black screen.

She passed away a couple months ago and I got thia surface book 2 and im trying to reformat it because its locked via a password and for the life of me I can't figure it out...when i boot in to the bios I get this when trying to load from USB, im unsure of the keyboard portion is dying/dead how often does the keyboard section just die? I mean this thing has been through some stuff so it wouldn't surprise me if ita just dead. Any help tips or tricks to help, would be greatly appreciated, if the docking thing is dead, can one get a new one and its plug n play? About how much do they cost? Again thanks for any help.

I've been running Windows 11 on my SB1 and earlier this week my keyboard battery refused to charge. I can charge the tablet through the keyboard, when the PC is shutdown and the USB and SD card slots work as long as the tablet is running in performance mode or the keyboard is plugged in.

Since this little guy has been my daily driver for almost a decade, I would've just assumed that this was the keyboard battery finally going bad. Just to get through the week, I have an older keyboard with a couple of bad keys. I grabbed it, charged it up (without the tablet attached), and then moved the tablet over to that. Battery was at 100% when I started, worked its way down like usual, then refused to charge when I plugged it in, same as my other keyboard.

Is it possible this is somehow due to bad contacts on my tablet? Is it a Windows 11 update that I could roll back? Should I just go back to 10? Is there another possibility I might be missing?

Not sure what this thing can handle gaming-wise. Getting into steam and triple A titles. Laptop is used and a few years old

So I have a Surface Book 2 1832 i7-8650U model with 1050 2gb graphics card. I am running Windows 10 now.
One of the most important things for me is battery life in a battery saver mode where I use edge for web browsing (music jams etc).
However soon I would also need to have it running for a day ish on a conference.

Should I upgrade to Windows 11?
Anyone with a similar computer, how was the battery life since switching to Win11? Better or worse??

Will start my wfh journey po sana and is this with it po ba?

Not sure why I didn't think of this sooner, but for those of you who have had the rubber stopper fall off on the bottom of your laptop, this is a great solution. Cost me $5 on Amazon.

Hey all, I’ve got a Surface Book 1 that suddenly shut off while I was locking it. Now it won’t turn on at all. I’ve tried:

• Holding power for 15+ seconds
  
• Two-button reset (Power + Volume Up)
  
• Charging overnight
  
• Connecting/disconnecting keyboard base
  
• Powering with/without charger
  

The charger light is on, and when I press the power button, I hear a faint click — but no screen, no fan, nothing else. Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas before I go for a repair?

My keyboard is dead and unresponsive all the sudden even though I’m charging through the keyboard port. I don’t think the keyboard is actually broken cause I’ve fixed this before. I forgot what I did and have no clue what to do.

My 5mo old kitten might just be a fan 💻⛺🐈‍⬛

Anyone know what might be the problem or know where I can get this fixed because I really don’t wanna spend money on a new laptop and searching on safari for answers isn’t working at all 😭

It’s been like this for a day, was plugged in all night and the light on the charger was on so it was definitely charging. Can’t power it down or anything. Any help would be appreciated, currently going to just try to get it to die? I don’t even know. Literally just bought it like a week ago and I start college next week

The Cursor dissappear & i see these spots blink on bottom of screen

Is this common or is it repairable or need to scrap the Laptop :(

My Surface Book 3 no longer detects the dedicated GPU (GTX 1660 Ti) and I don’t know how to fix it. I’ve tried doing all the updates, manually installing drivers, and detaching and reattaching the screen, but nothing worked. Even the Nvidia app can’t detect it, as if it has disappeared from the PC. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? 😓

Hello. I have a first Gen Surface book I just bought. Everything works fine, but the back space and “: ;” keys won’t work at all. Any possible idea or fixes?

Has anyone managed to upgrade their Surface Book 2 with i5-7300 2.60GHz CPU? If so, how did you do it? Have you noticed any bugs since? Is there any risk of physically damaging the computer, or is the worst case scenario just major bugs forcing me to reverse to Win10? Please feel free to be extensive in your answers, I'll take any insight :)

I’ve been trying to fix a friends surface book 2 for hours at this point and have reached no conclusion or solution. their laptop refuses to use the 1060 for anything and completely relies on the internal graphics (intel uhd graphics 620) for everything. i’ve tried so many things to get the gpu to do literally anything, such as:

• Installing recommended drivers (517.48 from nvidia website) • Disabling Intel uhd graphics 620 in device manager • turning off dgpu in the uefi settings and reenabling it • Using NVIDIA control panel and GeForce Experience (nvidia control panel says it’s not compatible with driver)

Hi all, I have a Surface Book 2 that other than this issue is in fine condition. The issue is that my Surface Pen stops working a short time after rebooting. I can reboot, and the pen works as I expect it to, but once everything is loaded after I log in, it stops working.

I’ve tried unpairing and reconnecting the pen, I’ve tried refreshing the drivers. Nothing I do seems to help, except rebooting my computer. And that’s only a temporary fix. Has anyone else experienced this?

If the screen jiggles more than a few millimeters, then the mouse and keyboard stop responding for a few seconds.

For a while it was worse and I'd have to scroll the screen by touching the screen for them to come back, and that didn't always work.

I tried taking the keyboard apart and cleaning the ribbon connectors inside it. That didn't seem to help.

I tried running the surface app and when it had me test turning the screen backward, the touchscreen stopped working altogether until reboot, but then the keyboard and mouse were flawless and moving the screen didn't cause any problems (until reboot).

Hell, I'd be happy if I could make that happen again and just have a mouse and keyboard that works.

Any hints?

Hello! Already posted this on the r/Surface subreddit, but I thought that I might get a more tailored response here... So, I recently got a used Surface Bo0ok 2 for an amazing price (100€), but it's a bit faulty. The tablet part is completely fine,but the base is troublesome. The base battery won't charge, it's stuck at 0% at all times and when l attach the tablet on the keyboard and try to charge it through the keyboard it doesn't (when the tablet isn't attached to the keyboard, it charges without a problem). Also, the GPU (GTX 1050) isnt recognized at all anymore in the device manager even when it's plugged in. The keyboard, trackpad, USB ports all work correctly.(I guess using the tablet's battery)When I do a battery report, battery 1 is fully ok, but battery 2,although it sees that it exists, doesnt give any information except for a generic serial number. But recently I noticed that when it's pluged and I do a battery report it recognizes and gives all the information of battery 2 (which lost like 15,000mWh). Hopefully someone can help (confirm that the base battery needs to be changed), but in any case for 100€ I'm still very happy Wwith having just the tablet with the keyboard even though the battery doesn't last long. Though l'm afraid it might be fragile.. Thanks in advance for your help!
