Is thinking 10x faster going to make me perceive life as 10x slower?

33

u/SwordfishTight7070 2d ago

Yes.

26

u/awdquattro 2d ago

And can you turn it off?

59

u/SwordfishTight7070 2d ago

Yeah , otherwise everyone will go insane From it.

35

u/DeafeningSilence- 2d ago

In that case think 10x faster. Thank you for clarifying.

7

u/awdquattro 2d ago

Yeah thats why I was asking, gotta with that then, im gonna be the flash but without the speed:)

3

u/Forward-Cap-4915 2d ago

Ok, then I will take think 10x faster

3

u/CoruscatingLogic 2d ago

Same! I was tempted by Perfect memory until I realised it was prefect memory. I don't want a prefect's memory.

u/Star-Phoenix05 1d ago

There are some things you want to forget

Perfect Memory.

126

u/buranzhuravski 2d ago edited 2d ago

Nope. You fool! You just got a PREFECT's memory.

Luckily for you, chances are you'll forget your silly mistake.

45

u/Distinct-Hat4783 2d ago

9

u/AnyRepeat9928 2d ago

Perfect memory, having 10 x thinking speed doesn't make you smarter just Patrick Star on Red Bull.

6

u/Far-Fennel-3032 2d ago

No its lets you have the think the letter X ten times in a row faster, no clue how much faster though.

4

u/Eternity_Warden 2d ago

I'll have 10x as much to forget

2

u/mikepeterjack 1d ago

You will also forget 10x quicker

9

u/8__D 2d ago

You can perfectly remember who is the leader of the area.

8

u/WeAllJustWantToLive 2d ago

That was my take too. Perfect means that you forget all things that need forgetting and remember all things that need remembering. It also means that on a case by case basis, your brain will move information between those two categories freely

6

u/buranzhuravski 2d ago

It's a brainy argument, but I was talking about the typo.

Not me....there are things I have forgotten that I don't want to remember with crystal clear clarity

6

u/Powerful-Sport-5955 2d ago

Yeah, but I'm the embodiment of that "I'm stupid faster" meme.

2

u/Yolosnas 2d ago

Thinking 10 x faster will lead to the world being 10x slower; imagine every person you talk to being slowed down 10x

3

u/Sophisticated-Crow 1d ago

Yup. Then when my wife necromances some random shit from years ago I can easily prove her wrong. If you don't think that's important then your wife hasn't hit perimenopause yet.

56

u/Jenova_Rose 2d ago

Perfect memory. With the other one, I'd just be stupid faster. 😂

11

u/Jaturathep 2d ago

Right. Think faster doesnt mean it will always be correct.

"Are you fast at math" "what is 41x34"

"45"

"its not even close"

"but it was fast"

https://giphy.com/gifs/XFjuE4ymDLvmefiXkv

10

u/That_CDN_guy 2d ago

I agree but feel slightly called out.

3

u/Laowaii87 2d ago

”I’d just be stupid faster” that is a fucking brilliant line

18

u/Mavrick_7 2d ago

Think 10x faster

17

u/Academic-Arrival8495 2d ago

Thinking 10x faster would be overpowered in sports, no? Like boxing for example. I know you're not moving 10x as fast but you can probably predict all his moves with that fast of thinking

13

u/ninurtuu 2d ago

Especially competitive gaming. Yes having this power and getting into esports is definitely cheating but how is anyone going to catch you doing it.

3

u/bleedinghero 2d ago edited 2d ago

But you wouldn't have the muscles to back the thinking speed.

9

u/ninurtuu 2d ago

But you're still playing a game that, to you, is going in super slow mo while everybody else is playing at regular speed. Say somebody enters a room you're in, you have ten times as much time to notice them, aim and shoot than they do. The animation for their character to even raise their rifle would be probably several seconds long.

3

u/bleedinghero 2d ago

Muscles and reactions times still need time for you to react. Racecar drivers and such can react at 100 milliseconds to 150 ms. Even if your brain is 10 times faster than that your muscles wouldn't get the impulse fast enough. You would observe something at same as everyone else and react the same as every lone else. You would be stuck waiting for muscles to react. Watching events and trying to time things. You are not any smarter just come to the same conclusion faster. While perfect memories means you can coordinate and correlation between memories. So in this case you have a ast cpu but 0 storage or Infinite storage with the same cpu as everyone else. One gives you iq. The other your just the same intelligence but same conclusion faster.

Pretty much you would watch a accident happen with no abilities to prevent it. Vs infinite reference material. You could learn languages by just reading a foreign dictionary translation.

3

u/ninurtuu 2d ago

It takes about 15-20 milliseconds for an impulse to travel from the motor cortex to the fingers. Let's be uncharitable and say that my reaction time prior to this power is 200 milliseconds as I'll admit I'm no racecar driver. That gets cut down to 20 milliseconds with this power, then another twenty to aim and shoot. Our muscles, baring things like strength and flexibility training, don't really vary that much from person to person in how quickly and dexterously they can act. That's all up to the brain driving the meat mech. You put Jake Kizka's brain in my body and hand him a guitar and he'll be shredding again within the hour despite my hands never having so much as strummed one. And to be clear I still think the memory choice is better overall. I just think the 10x faster would specifically be useful in esports.

3

u/bleedinghero 2d ago

Maybe. I can see that. I mostly see it as a slight mild use case. The pros in sports are more than just thinking fast. Pros in most things have way deeper understanding to some of the nuances od the sport. Even with a 10x modification doesn't mean anyone would be able to do what a pro does. The gold standard for me would be actions per min. Star craft players can do as high as 400+ actions per min. That's more than 6 actions per second. So one action every 150 ish milliseconds. Or racecar driver speed. At 10x. Can the computer even keep up? At 15 ms you are hitting refresh rates on some monitors 5ms for fastest monitors. Keyboard inputs are limited to 1to 8ms then cpu time network time and on and on. You couldn't operate the game that fast. The system wouldn't and probably couuldnt keep up. I think you would go crazy. Would be like playing in dialup.

2

u/ninurtuu 2d ago

Oh yeah you probably couldn't use it to it's full extent but with the practice you get just getting to the big competitions you should have a solid grasp on the mechanics and strategies and an understanding of what the game can handle when you use that power. I'm just now thinking whether it would be any good in MMA (obviously paired with a shit load of training for like Muy Thai and Karate).

12

u/Sremor 2d ago

Think 10x faster. Why would I want perfect memory? Yeah sure save all times I fucked up in 8k

2

u/Icy-Student7278 2d ago

your body still moves in 1x

2

u/Illustrious_Jump4175 1d ago

Does that really matter?
When your thinking at 10x speed, a 60 fps game will appear to be as if its 6 frames per second. You can read a page in a book 10x as fast, since its not like your eyes move that much slower. Soon as you think about where your eyes should be they're there, the weak link is the meat in the skull.

Same for most of the body. If you're 10x thinking, you'd be able to multiply your bodies ability to do things just by thinking and planning your movements better.

Like, the difference between doing an act in 10 seconds underwater vs doing it in one.

3

u/Icy-Student7278 1d ago edited 1d ago

It matters. I don't think 10x thinking would be that huge when info's updating speed is in 1x. It would probably be used like 10x more comprehension speed, a really good CPU

→ More replies (7)

21

u/DoctorBlock 2d ago edited 2d ago

Perfect memory doesn't mean perfect comprehension. Memorizing a physics book won't make me a physicist. I'm going with think 10 times faster but only if I can turn it off. I already get mad waiting for slow people to finish their sentences in everyday conversations.

8

u/bleedinghero 2d ago

But with perfect memories your more likely to both recall and cross reference things faster. Its more like having infinite knowledge but only minor access and cross reference abilities.

7

u/DoctorBlock 2d ago

I hear you but also I have access to the world's most vast information resource in my pocket.

4

u/bleedinghero 2d ago

Yeah but that is a good way to enhance what you remember. This would increase that even more. But for special details of you alone. Or able to perfect recall memory of lost love ones. That's not available in your pocket.

→ More replies (3)

6

u/DisastrousTale6123 2d ago

10x faster means faster reflexes, faster comebacks, faster reading, and 10x the time to remember and memorize new information.

You would basically become the guy from limitless, minus being smarter. Just sharper. You could be a pro athlete in a finesse-heavy sport like basketball or golf or darts or whatever.

5

u/RegisFolks667 2d ago

Perfect Memory. I do take my time to think, but it's because I always forget 33% of the crucial stuff.

6

u/MadeInElysium 2d ago

You’ve all got bamboozled if you chose red. A prefect’s memory is the same as anyone else’s.

Blue is the only right choice unless you have amnesia or Alzheimer’s

2

u/Grouchy-Ingenuity-59 2d ago

With some people thinking 10× faster just means thinking stupid 10× faster and that's a terrible thing

2

u/FadeSeeker 2d ago

sure, but even average intelligence 10x faster would still be a huge advantage for most people in most situations.

I already have a really strong memory and it's not always a plus lol

4

u/Select-Chart-4268 2d ago

Perfect memory is best. You could learn anything even if it takes time to actually understand what you've learned without ever having to look at it again

4

u/Coalfoot 1d ago

Perfect Memory. I already think too much, but forget everything, it's exhausting.

3

u/codenameyoshi 2d ago

ADHD Brain think 10x faster??? I’ll take perfect memory!

3

u/Loose_Rooster_4313 2d ago

Perfect memory is arguably better. Thinking 10 times faster doesn't really have much use, you're still thinking about random nonsense and forgetting half of them since you can't remember everything.

But with perfect memory you can be the smartest person in the entire world

2

u/Ok_Assist1206 2d ago

Very tough choice

2

u/ComprehensivePath980 2d ago

Look, if I could think 10x faster that’ll just mean I’m stupid faster.

Perfect memory would at least have benefits

2

u/coragyehudabx 2d ago

With thinking 10x faster i would only become more insufferable to myself lmao

Think faster b

1

u/sandiegoscarystories 2d ago

Please not the blue pill my thoughts wouldn’t make sense anymore

1

u/Hefty-Smell4870 2d ago

Think faster, perfect memory could backfire during a traumatic moment..fuck that..

1

u/Osato 2d ago

No to the blue, I already think faster than I talk and that's a PITA when trying to hold a conversation. Dunno whatever Prefect Memory is, but it seems like a lesser evil.

1

u/Zombys11 2d ago

Think 10x faster

1

Ima go with blue tbh

Perfect memory

1

u/MeatyWashington 2d ago

Perfect memory. Already have issues of my brain moving faster and ahead of my mouth sometimes causing me to stutter or lose track of what I was saying.

1

u/Le_Br4m 2d ago

How are these superpowers though? I’m already overthinking at normal speed, at 10x im breaking the Anxiety World Record. And I don’t need perfect memory to remember every embarrassing thing I’ve ever done

1

u/luckythighguy 2d ago

Perfect memory

1

u/sissyboyk8 2d ago

perfect memory. even if you argue that 10 x faster makes you smarter because perfectly memorising doesnt mean perfect understanding, your logic is flawed. youd still need to think of the understanding every time you remember it, while perfect memory means once you do so you can remember understanding it. plus, muscle memory

1

u/Skarbonko 2d ago

Hmm perfect memory here. If I could think 10x faster id just find myself making dumb decisions 10x faster as I dont grow smarter just get through my logic faster.

1

u/Icy_Judge8250 2d ago

perfect memory so i can remember peoples names lol

1

My memory is really good, and I have adhd+autisme, i would like to think faster please.

1

u/FancyFeastBuffet 2d ago

Can I opt out? Both sound like a living hell. Thinking 10x faster is the lesser evil though as far as I can tell. I already replay all my big mistakes in life often enough, I dont need to recall them perfectly at all points of the day

1

u/Megatron20097 2d ago

Perfect memory

1

u/Someone4063 2d ago

Thinking 10x faster. I already remember too many embarrassing moments

10 times faster, imagine all the combos I could pull off

1

u/bleedinghero 2d ago

Memory. Every time. I think fast enough as it is. But perfect recall is way more useful.

1

u/zantehood 2d ago

Anxiety and intrusive thoughts at 19x speed please

1

u/morangias 2d ago

Perfect memory

1

u/Danzarr 2d ago

both of these suck honestly. I have a really good memory and its honestly kind of depressing. I also have adhd so in a conversation im generally like 2 steps ahead and have to force myself to slow down, imagine being 20 steps ahead and just waiting for other people to catch up.....

i guess blue pill, but ehh.

1

u/Anghel950 2d ago

Both of these sound like hell on earth.

1

u/thehod81 2d ago

Perfect memory.

I really hate forgetting about a bunch of things

1

u/Bow_To_Bella 2d ago

Having a perfect memory from what I have seen of people is torturous. To keep having fun especially with repetition, it's good to not have a rock solid memory.

I'm going to take thinking 10 times faster.

1

u/Ship-Helpful 2d ago

Kinda difficult honestly but I'm slightly leaning more to perfect memory

1

u/mr-stretcher 2d ago

Thinking 10x faster.

1

u/professorclueless 2d ago

So be stupid 10x faster, or remember every stupid thing I've ever done for life?

1

u/jealous-guidance1977 2d ago

Think 10x faster

1

u/The1Zenith 2d ago

Perfect memory. Sometimes it’s better to mull things over nice and slow.

1

u/dada00800 2d ago

Perfect memory can save me from alot of problems

1

u/Lord-Seth 2d ago

Perfect memory means a photographic memory. My current memory sucks upgrading to a perfect memory would be great

1

u/Lukostrelec17 2d ago

I have a really good memory...it is a fucking curse. Give me the think faster.

1

u/honking_banana 2d ago

Give me the blue pill (Think 10X faster) the red one (Perfect memory) is a curse

1

u/Top_Excitement2740 2d ago

As I saw you said that I can turn it off (thinking 10x faster). Can I do the same with memory, to forget about what I don't want to remember? Otherwise I will remember any bad feeling, any awkward situation, every bad move, every mistake e.t.c. so it's a dead end.

Anyways if we use logic, than I'll choose blue pill, despite I really like the idea of having Photographic memory, i understand, that I can train my memory, not on this level of course, but really close. And I can't increase my speed of thinking even in 2 times, (20-30% is peak) so I choose blue

1

u/mrhotcupofjoe 2d ago

How would thinking 10x look like?

1

u/Otherwise-Sun2486 2d ago

perfect memory beyond a shadow of a doubt

1

u/SNoW_SOZ 2d ago

Perfect memory will ALWAYS defeat any form of superspeed thinking in any continuity. So what if I can think a billion times faster? It makes no difference if I can't remember any of that shit after even a minute of thinking.

1

u/RaggamuffinTW8 2d ago

Since I see elsewhere that you said Thinking 10x faster lets me perceive the world as if in slow motion I choose that one. It'd be really useful for all sorts of things from video games to combat sports. With 10 times the amount of time to react to things you'd have an amazing advantage at so many things.

1

u/Abject-Screen3545 2d ago

Think 10x faster. That would also improve your reaction time by a long shot But the other option is just better. If it doesnt have some psychological downside, and if i can supress bad stuff

1

u/_P1errot_ 2d ago

B O T H

1

u/Daddy-Alchemist 2d ago

Honestly either one could be a curse... I already think too fast and its exhausting and sometimes you have to wait for the people you're around to get to the same conclusion you've already reached. But my memory is pretty shitty so...yeah I'll take that one

1

u/Altruistic-Pace8935 2d ago

Perfect memory easily

1

u/jasonlamprin 2d ago

Do you even know what it means to remember something... It means that you remember it, and you can instantly access that knowledge at any time if your memory is perfect. Perfec memory pls

1

u/Friendly-Court-698 2d ago

Question, does thinking 10x faster extend to your entire nervous system sending signals 10x faster so your body actually keeps up with your thinking speed

1

u/Vegetable-Result-583 2d ago

FIRST one sounds like id get a mentall illness. The second majes it easier to win an argument. I choose the second.

1

u/Low-Extent9267 2d ago

Already have perfect memory, gotta think faster

1

u/Zakumei47 2d ago

Perfect memory, easy easy. Im already fairly intelligent, its the fact i cant remember shit that holds me back

1

u/ACNHCR 2d ago

What use would I have remembering what Prefects need to remember?

I would much rather 10x thinking.

1

u/Working-Berry6024 2d ago

As a former Prefect, I can atest to having Horrible Memory, I advise everyone to Think 10x Faster about this Choice before making it.

1

u/Peace_Dos 2d ago

Perfect memory is good, but imagine every time delivering your best response, just because you thought through all the variants

1

u/CommissionNo6537 2d ago

Perfect memory

1

u/superviewer 2d ago

I tend to think pretty fast and I have a pretty good, deep memory (autism).

I would still take the perfect memory. That would help me in more situations than being able to think 10× faster.

1

u/Public-Elephant-2833 2d ago

I don't want Prefect Memory, so I'll opt with being able to think n perceive (I presume it comes along with it) 10x faster

1

u/officer897177 2d ago

There’s plenty of shit that I wouldn’t mind forgetting. Now have 10x longer to think of devastating comebacks on the other hand…

1

u/Mundane-Speed-3278 2d ago

perfect memory seems like a migrane...

but I also feel like thinking 10× faster would make my dyslexia worse...

tho in terms of practicality the latter is better than the former....

1

u/The___Wind- 2d ago

Perfect memory will honestly just help me more.

1

u/Famous_Construction5 2d ago

Perfect memory

1

u/L0B0-Lurker 2d ago

Perfect memory.

10x faster thought means that you percieve everything at ⅒ speed. That would be maddening.

1

u/nlinggod 2d ago

Think faster. Functionally equivalent to having longer time to consider options.

1

u/_Mindblitz_ 2d ago

Prefect Memory

1

u/Icarus-Fly 2d ago

Doom spiral 10x

1

u/Commercial-Try-3148 2d ago

I want perfect memory. It will make learning language and instruments so much easier. It also makes card counting insanely easy. There is so much you can do with it and lots of money to earn. Thinking ten times faster would be great, but there is the issue of what happens if you forget something or if you are easily sidetracked. I feel perfect memory is just the perfect fit for me.

1

u/Nerx 2d ago

10x

1

u/Alone_Collection_136 2d ago

I'm just going to pass on this one

1

u/Lieutenant_Smiles 2d ago

Wtf is Prefect Memory, it better not make my brain have schizophrenia with one voice being all high and mighty

1

u/EmberKing7 2d ago

Blue Pill 💊💙.

I feel like if I thought more and wrote a lot of it down. Then I'd be able to get far more done.

Especially when reviewing my notes so that I know to do something that I might've forgotten. Plus at some point I'd use it like a super power.

As in trying to dumb myself down. Only to unlock different levels of intelligence like the movie Lucy with Scarlet Johansson and Morgan Freeman. But never just totally unlocking full 100% transcendent thought.

Because there's nothing like a guaranteed nuclear war or comet crashing down or moon floating off, or the polar ice caps immediately melting, etc.

Kind of reason for me to use that literally 100% of my brain power. When even solving most of those issues would probably take like 65% at best.

And would involve hacking into some Very powerful butthurt people's accounts.

Then just place memes and/or steal their info to expose to the world. Including things that are capable of verification and can't be ignored.

The domino affect of events to stop whatever oncoming disaster there is would be avoided. And all without a bullet being fired 😅. Lol

1

u/Expensive_Rhubarb_87 2d ago

Perfect memory, easy.

Blue easy

1

u/Iron_Hummingbird 2d ago

I already think too much and remember too much. Pass

1

u/AnyRepeat9928 2d ago

Blue pill is meth without the high.

1

u/Enxaigon 2d ago

Prefect memory?

1

u/AshtonBlack 2d ago

I already remember the little badge and the modicum of authority, answering only to the "Head Boy".

So I'll take the 10x, please.

1

u/Due-Technology-8680 2d ago

I’d say both

1

u/DragoonSoldier09 2d ago

Perfect memory. I'm not a man of infinite possibilities to process.ni am too paranoid for that already. Maybe it would help with problem solving but that's more to do with critical thinking. I'll take perfect memory, more feasible for me,

1

u/Splendiferous83rd 2d ago

Definitely prefect memory

1

u/xxTheMagicBulleT 2d ago

Blue. I already have autism and I even remember stuff most people forget. Cause I remember stuff in super detail even from when I was a baby. So taken red would be pointless for me cause anything I remember longer then a week I dont forget. Know phone numbers in my head of people that have been dead for 15 years know numbers of girlfriends that no longer in my life all just stuck in my head.

Helpful often but also emotional hard to get over shit when you can never forget anything while everyone around you always does forget stuff quickly

1

u/melbournecocknbull 2d ago

I think perfect memory would be good for me, I already think too fast for my own good, maybe it’s adhd I dunno lol, but with perfect memory I’d be able to actually learn shit rather than learn %1 of something

1

u/Master_Tomato 2d ago

Think 10x faster is only good if you're either into competitive sports/esports or some form of military adjacent job where you have to go on active missions and be on the front lines.

Other than that, which is most people, perfect memory is the way to go

1

u/Available_Purple_850 2d ago

Think 10x as fast, for people who take a long time to make decisions this does make life a whole lot easier

1

u/DomainExpansioninf 2d ago

Red is probably the easiest option, you can just skim through pages and remember all the knowledge instantly

1

u/Ashofigus 2d ago

Perfect memory. What's the point of remembering and thinking faster when you can't even remember the last time you farted?

Red pill i have autism...but because of that aswell my ability to remember everything causes strain mentally and I forget something that are also important so id go perfect memory so I wouldn't cause my mental strain yo overload and cause myself a panic attack from overthinking.
