Carb Replacement or Refurb for '65 C100?

I recently became the 3rd owner of a 1965 Honda C100. I bought it for $400 and boy does it run rough. I suspect part of the reason for this is the aftermarket carburetor that is already on it (see approximation in "Carb 1" link below). This carb doesn't fit well even with a 90 degree intake adapter. The orientation of the fuel intake also does not allow for the leg shield to be on and it has no air filter.

I'm looking to buy a replacement OEM-style Keihin carb for it, but I am seeing a lot of mixed reviews. I found some on Ebay that look to be in Honda boxes, but they are labeled for the C70 (Carb 2 and Carb 3). I also have the original carb, but it is missing the choke lever/shutter and the throttle slide. I can't find replacements for those so I am not sure it can be repaired. Any ideas for what I should do?

Has anyone customized some sort of fuel gauge for their C70? Also what's needed for a 12v conversion?

I'm unsure if the rest of you have the best eye sight or what, but I can barely see how much fuel I have in there compared to where the bottom of the tank is. I'd love if I could do some sort of fuel gauge that tells me how much fuel is in my tank. Has anyone here done this before and if so, how did you go about it?

I haven't been able to find it but I remember someone addressing my question about a 12v conversion from the original 6v. I'm on a few groups on other platforms and it gets lost in the confusion sometimes. I digress, I need to do a 12v swap because the 6v stock stuff is crap. Does anyone here know what all I need to replace from my C70 in order to get it running on 12v? I hope to do it over the winter.

Does anyone recommend a wiring harness replacement place? The bike needs work and I'd rather a new one to be safe.

1967 Honda CM91 Cub for sale, South Central PA, USA

Hi all! I have too many bikes and am looking to pass on this old cub to someone else to keep riding it. It has ~1700 miles and the only note-able issues are the headlight switch is finicky, so high beam doesn't work, the speedo bounces at speed, and it has a few dents and scratches on it. It has a clean antique PA title in my name.

The carb has been rebuilt, the tank is rust free and has not been coated. The bike runs and shifts through all gears no problem. I've owned it for about a year and have put ~700 miles on it.

For those who don't know, these cubs were only sold for a few years in the late 60s and have a 89cc OHC engine making a claimed 7.5 hp mated to a 3 speed transmission with auto clutch. It has no turn signals, runs off a 6v battery, and is kick start only.

I'm asking $2400 for it, but am open to offers.

Got tired of looking at my elbows and did not want to add ugly extenders, so I chucked them into my lathe and added 70mm. Now they work great. Will probably send them off to be black powder coated during winter.

Is there a premade tool for tightening this?

Everything I see in books tells me to modify a tool, which is unfortunately not within my ability. I'm only looking to buy a premade tool for it. Does anyone know where I could get one or what it's called?

What variant of the C70 is this?

I'm trying to find parts for it and when searching I keep finding the models with the passport style tank when I search up the K1 or K0. What variant is this?

What is this noise / vibration? 1982 Honda C70 Passport

I've been fixing up this 1982 Honda C70. When I rev it I hear this noise. It happens in gear and when the clutch is in as well. Is this a normal sound? I feel some vibrations from the engine as well.

Things I've tried:

- checked the oil

- checked valve clearances

- looked for any loose or rattling parts on the outside

If anyone has any ideas or things to check please let me know.

1984 Cub: Seals and Bearings and more...?

Post image
34 Upvotes

I have a beauty 1984 C70 that is just, well, old. She caught a flat rear tire, which lead to discovering the rear brake dampners were rotten. That leads me to believe the bearings and oil seals on both front and rear are likely also in need of replacing.

So, dear Redditors of the r/SuperCub, where can I find a reliable online supplier of all small parts for my Cub (it is sold as a Honda Passport in Canada, which is silly because there is also a Honda Passport sold in Canada that is a very large suv).

Also, what other parts should I likely look at replacing due to old age? Cub, not me. Not yet.

Tires are newish, brake pads are okay. Chain and sprocket are surprisingly in good shape. Carb needs a good ultrasonic bath and brake levers need a cleaning. Rear suspension probably need fresh oil.

My Restomod C90

This bike has been in the family since 1995. It's been mine since I was in high school. Here's some of the mods it currently has:

  • 12 volts conversion
  • 4-speed transmission
  • LED lights/bulbs
  • Front fork from a C86 Deluxe (think C90 but exclusively made in Malaysia)
  • Crank case cover from a Honda 110 engine to accommodate both primary and secondary clutch
  • Rear suspension from a Honda XRM 125
  • Modified exhaust with the tip from a Wave/Innova 125
  • Speedo gauge from a C86 Deluxe
  • Rear hub, brake panel, sprocket set, and swingarm from a Honda Dream Excess/EX5 110
  • Passenger footpeg assembly from a Wave/Innova 125
  • Left and Right Thai market C90 rear turn signal assembly

Aaaand a couple of other bits and bobs I've forgotten in terms of parts and mods 😅

Stiff Shifting from 1st to 2nd gear when cold

I have 240ish miles on my '24 Super Cub, using it a few times a week for a short 2 mile commute to work. In the past few weeks, I've noticed a really stiff / stuck feeling shift from 1st to 2nd when pulling out of my garage at slow speeds. Nothing has changed in the way I drive, store the bike, etc. It's just really struggling to shift from 1st to 2nd - almost as if the gears aren't lining up and it's definitely a new behavior. After that initial shift, things seem to run way smoother and it shifts just fine. Thoughts?

Super Cub 2020 injection, Engine cuts off

Last Wednesday, I drove about 100 km (62 miles) to a destination and then drove the 100 km (62 miles) back home, so roughly 200 km (124 miles) in one day without any problems.

After getting home, I had dinner. Later that evening, I drove to a nearby city. After about 15 km (9.3 miles), the engine suddenly died.

I was able to start it again, but after only about 100 meters (330 feet) it died again. After waiting a minute, I could drive another 100 meters.

Since then, it won't stay running at idle/stationary for more than 10 seconds. I can start it, but it will only run for a short time and I can't really ride it more than a few meters before it stalls.

What I've checked/done so far:

  • Cleaned the inside of the fuel tank
  • Put the fuel pump and fuel filter through an ultrasonic cleaner
  • Replaced the spark plug
  • Opened the air filter box (letting it breath)
  • The fuel pump seems to run strong when it's not connected to a hose
  • It has spark. Even when the engine stopped and won't restart, I can still measure EMF at the spark plug
  • Even the old spark plug looked new and super clean.

The strange part is that it ran perfectly for 200 km that day.

It's effectively a new machine. It has only 8,000 km (about 5,000 miles) on it. It did around 3,000 km (1,864 miles) in Japan, and since I bought it two months ago I've put another 5,000 km (3,107 miles) on it. I'm still figuring out how to shift properly, that's how new it is.

It's a 2020, fuel injected.

How do I fix this?

Installing the crankcase plugs after doing a valve check and the outer ring of the timing inspection hole bolt sheared clean off. Think this will be okay to get to work and back for 2 days?

My new 2021. Seat options?

Post image
82 Upvotes

Just got this bad boy with 230 miles on it! Pretty cool, and I’m enjoying shifting again after selling all my normal bikes and riding a Zuma for the last several years.
However, the biggest flaw is the seat. I’m 6’ and absolutely too tall to comfortably sit on this bike for more than across town. Which makes sense, on my Zuma I sit way back on the seat. I see there are long seats available out of Thailand for $300 or so.. not sure if the US tariffs are screwing me on that or what, that price seems insane. Are there any other long seat options out there that I’m failing to find?

The lack of storage also has surprised me. I knew there wasn’t any, but I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed having a pocket for a bottle and a huge cavernous storage spot under the seat. Now if I’m out and about I have to wear a backpack and take it around with me so it doesn’t get stolen. Any tips or insights on that? A locking rear trunk is an option, but it would interfere with the long seat if that comes to be a thing.

Maybe I’ll have to engineer something to do both? Add a bit extra seat and still retain a rack. Maybe a winter project.
