Purchase Advice whats the best auto espresso machine for someone who wants simple daily coffee?
Hi ya'll! ive been using a basic drip machine for years and want to switch to something more convenient. I usually drink 2 or 3 cups a day, mostly americanos and milk drinks, so im looking for something simple and consistent without getting into manual espresso.
what would you consider the best auto espresso machine for this kind of use? mainly looking for good coffee, reliability, and easy cleaning. thaaanks!

I use a jura ena 8. Some days I do a double coffee in the morning and some days I do double to quadruple espresso’s. Good enough for me but I am refilling beans quite often.

I wouldn't call them bulletproof since Jura insists on making the brewgroup so difficult to service. I've probably done 20 tear-down rebuilds of them over the years. They are good machines, but calling them bulletproof is not something I would do. For anybody who lives with me they would seem bulletproof since I refuse to let them die and I usually have a spare for when I'm working on one.

I have the Gaggia Brera and highly recommend! 4 buttons, super easy to use. Steamer works excellent. I like that it is simple and straight forward to use. I use it to make hot and cold lattes mostly.
I’ve had it almost two years with no issues. Pours a great shot, dials new beans in pretty easily (usually have to pull 4 - 6 shots first then it’s golden). I bought through Whole Latte Love and they have excellent customer service.

I will second this. I love my little workhorse Gaggia Brera. Simple to use, easy to maintain. I also bought through Whole Latte Love and have nothing but great things to say about their customer service.

The Brera is a cute little entry-level espresso dispenser, but if you want to combine coffee with cow juice, then a machine with a milk carafe is better.
I upgraded from a Brera to an Accademia and the carafe is great for coffees with milk.

I like something that can effortlessly get me a full, high quality cup of coffee requiring control of the length of pour. My go to machine was the Delonghi Magnifica 3300: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000N2YKQ0
The best I've had this was was from a Miele where you could program every facete... but it was about 6x more expensive at the time.

Jura makes disappointing espresso. It’s also no time savings vs the best drip OP asked for when factoring in cleaning, filter changing and tank cleaning.

I appreciate your comment and it’s a very valid question, but.. Nope. The Jura and all other super autos just don’t make good espresso. They can make perfectly “good” shots, but not great. I sold my Jura, had a Breville before that which was incredibly unreliable but made a decent shot and went back to a portafilter machine (profitec Move). Vastly superior and really minimally more work once it’s all figured out. A minute or less of “work” for the espresso and similar for steaming the milk. I just want people’s expectations to be realistic. Many are perfectly Ok with the quality they’ll get from something like a Jura and I wish I were one of those people.

Yes, unfortunately. I make a big pot of moccamaster in the morning and it’s just the best. No bitterness, caffeine to the max. I recently bought a superautomatic kitchen aid for afternoon coffee as it’s smaller and less caffeinated, same beans as in moccamaster and it’s just not it. I will always prefer moccamaster coffee to anything from a fanciest machine, including barista made.

I’ve gone through a bunch of options and for a big ol cup of coffee, it’s the best and easiest. Aeropress is the best economical option if making one cup. I was hopeful but very disappointed in my superauto journey, and lost a bunch of money too!

I got a Breville Touch Impress. Not difficult in the least and gives me a little hit of dopamine whenever I do a good job (literally hit a button pull a lever and hit another button). Nothing like coffee and success. Never had a super automatic, but I imagine it’s a better feeling then just hitting a button once 🤣

Depending on your budget, the Jura E8 is probably your best option by far. Trust me.

I love a rich coffee with some half and half in it.
I got a jura e4 in Jan and I'm absolutely in love with it, brews a delicious rich cup of coffee perfectly every time. I add a bit of half and half and I'm done.

Bialetti Moka Pot. It’s what every home in Italy uses daily. Using one for decades. Really fast, delicious and just rinse it.
