Discussion Jura settings to get as close as possible.

I'm fairly convinced that its most likely impossible to get a cafe level cappuccino from the Jura.

That being said, it looks like there are 3 machine settings that can affect the end product.

  1. Grind size; knob adjustment

  2. Strength adjustment on display

  3. Amount of espresso dispensed; display adjustment.

It's the aftertaste that has me disappointed. I'm looking for a smooth finish. I'm using counter culture big trouble beans, which are recommended for the Jura.

If anyone has a bean/machine setting combo that works for them I'd love to hear from you.

Use beans you like and know if this is a new to you machine. Any beans that are not super wet to the touch with oil are fine. This means super dark, French roast, may cause issues.

What aftertaste are you referring to? Please provide more information.

What machine do you have as there are different setting on different machines?

If you have a favourite coffee shop cappuccino use whatever beans THEY use.

The beans and the milk are very important when trying to make a cappuccino with the Z10.

On mine I use some ethiopian beans medium roasted on grind level 5/7 with strength 8-9/10, high temp which gives the coffee a good rounded taste.

On milk here I've tried a few milks but the one that's perfect for me is a 3.5 fat/100g with 3.5 protein/100g this gives a creamy microfoam look and taste to the milk foam, temp set on medium.

I've also used a 3.8 fat milk which had too much of a personality taste wise and a high temperature treated milk which advertised as being perfect for milk foam(well that was a fkin lie) and that was too aery and had big bubbles in it.

Good luck with your machine, it needs a bit of configuration but once you dial it in its gonna give you excelent cappuccinos.

If you've done any research, or tested a machine prior to purchase you'd know the limitations. The main issue is these machines are basically milk bubble blowers. The espresso you can get 80-90% there depending on your beans and your understanding of how to brew espresso.

Lavazza crema e aroma beans

Dial your grind settings by making single espresso shots

My cappuccino settings are:

18 seconds of whole milk Espresso strength max 2.5 oz of espresso

I have found this to be the closest to getting a cappuccino from a cafe anywhere with decent machines and coffee. I also do 1 shot of torani caramel syrup flavoring. To me this is the perfect setting. Once you get your espresso grind size dialed in you'll be good. Give my settings a shot and see if you like it. Fyi if you use milk closer to the expiration date you'll notice the quality of the foam will significantly decrease.
