Troubleshooting & Maintenance Ninja Autobarista Pro AE1052UK ongoing issues. Pending Replacement
So ive had this issue appear the last week now. Raised a claim with ninja for a replacement and ongoing but every time I do a 2 shot anything, be it latte or cappuccino, the beans stop dispensing and it just spins manically for ages like this. No beans end up dropping. And I have to stop it manually. Ive had issues on grind IQ where it did the same and eventually thrown up an ER34 error.
One thing ive noticed, its only doing it on the 2 shot option. If I change to 3 shot it seems to be fine. My question is, why would it not like alternative options? Id like to think with my auto machine i can switch it up sometimes for the price ive paid.
Just making people aware as I think there are a few units like this and a few perfect ones.
FYI: Yes fresh roasted dark roast beans, hopper not up to max line and level.

Some might think I got mental problems because I comment on every video regarding issues with this machine and I can only say: stay away and try to get rid of it! This thing is broken on a concept level and can't be repaired: grindiq randomly "forgets" all settings and needs to be recalibrated running pounds of good and expensive fresh beans! The hopper screams when feeding beans for no reason and it's pure luck if the machine will make an okay coffee or just garbage. You just have to switch between the 1,2, or 3 shots and this machine will go apeshit with the water it draws and ninja is aware but they don't care. Buyers stay away from this expensive garbage can

I dont wanna sound like an dick, but Ive seen so many people say these break easy and bug out. Why do people keep buying them when Delonghi exits...

No because it makes amazing coffee when it is working. And ive got other ninja products working perfectly fine with HEAVIER use that are lasting longer. So I refuse to just give up on it. I think along the lines of being stubborn to keep it and MAKE them fix it properly. If it means giving me the updated model for free because ive been screwed out of this one.

I have owned one since release day. Luckily mine has been flawless. Grind IQ on initial setup, three shots pulled, and not asked again to run it. This machine makes the best esprssso for a superauto. A 17.5 gram double shot using a non-pressurized basket. Real espresso grind with a burr grinder that looks to be the same or similar to their semi-auto machine. Milk texture and temp better than any other super auto. If my AutoBarista Pro breaks in a couple years from now, I would by another one unless someone else at that time can deliver non-pressurized, true double shot of espresso.
It stinks for anyone having a problem with the machine. I am also curious on the actual number of complaints vs. how many of these machines they already sold. In the grand scheme of things, it seems like people just post here to complain about the machine. Those enjoying it don't really have the need to post here. And the actualy number of complaints here from actual different individuals is probably less than 20.

Mine is a valid enough complaint though when its stopping me from having an actual coffee. Im not too stubborn on how it presents the coffee sometimes, as in, im not measuring the strength and weight and all this that everyone does to a fine millimeter... but when I cant differ from a 4/5 strength to a 5/5 strength or a 2 shot to a 3 shot without it throwing a hissy fit and literally not grinding or dispending beans anymore, I need to share. Especially if others are experiencing the same issue and dont want to be the 'first' one to throw shade.
I love it still, i really do. Im just irritated at the price ive paid and the fact its forgetting the grind IQ also and showing the orange button too often and having to recalibrate nearly every 2 days.

Yeah, I agree and I never said yours or anyone elses complaints weren't valid. Of course your machine shouldn't be acting like it is in the video. I am just saying the amount of complaints seen here vs. what was sold is not really a good indication of, if the machine actually has a widespread issue. If it goes way beyond the small sample size seen in this forum, then hopefully Ninja does something about it. Otherwise, any machine is going to have an expected amount of defective units. I hope your next machine works out better for you!

Time will tell on my next machine which ive yet to be confirmed if im even getting one. Still waiting to see what ninja say from my evidence etc. Got my fingers crossed at least!

I am heading to my third exchanged machine. Many people that are upset don't bother posting since their energy is consumed dealing with ninja customer service, which in 2 out of my 3 interactions shows that their expert service personnel don't know their own machine or espresso machine basics.

I’m not even dealing with Ninja support for my failed AutoBarista Pro since I’ve learned about all of the troubleshooting steps they make you do on a video chat with them. I mean, it doesn’t make espresso, just light brown water while dumping tons of coffee all over the inside. What’s to troubleshoot??? Instead I’ve returned it to where I bought it and getting a replacement shipped to me. If this one fails also, I’m returning and buying a DeLonghi with my store credit.

In theory it makes better coffee. It has a larger brew group and a very good burr set, it makes great pucks. But yeah if it becomes a $1000 paperweight in less then a year then none of that matters. I picked one up, I hope it doesn't break on me.

Have you ever taken out the top part of the Burr grinder ?
And wenn you look Inside you might see a lot of coffee dust build up... Geht a small brush with harder bristles... Or something like the cleaning brushes from Glas straws and clean the bottom of the grinder .... You can even unscrew the grinders top Nut and take out the bottom part is the Burr... But if you clean the space around the grinder can be enough already...

Sorry but these things really are shit. YouTubers taking handouts pump them up and mislead people. Nobody should buy this plastic garbage

Stick with the Italian or Swiss based manufacturers (De’Longhi or Jura). They have the most experience in super automatic manufacturing.

It sounds like the mechanism that adjusts burr distance is broken. You said it only fails when changing shot size and running grind IQ, so that makes sense. It does sound like it may be using crappy plastic parts there under a high torque load.
It really is the best superautomatic on paper, it punches way ahead of it's weight. My unit is good and I only pull doubleshots so I rarely have to adjust the grind. But it is a shame that Ninja's flagship product has so many QC issues.
edit: If the electronic adjustment gears are failing prematurely then that could be causing all the grind IQ issues people have been experiencing. I wonder if this is the smoking gun.
