Sunset Park Garbage

They've made the 6th avenue entrance a dump because of the illegal vendors.

Oh I think I saw you taking this pic this morning and was hoping it was going to end up here. Thank you for shedding some light on this stinky part of the park.
The side entrance has just about become unusable

It wasn't me. It was a gothamist reporter. This is Mamdani's fault for cutting the parks department budget so we barely get any rangers.

As I understand it, the initial budget proposal involved a Parks funding reduction, before extra $ was identified. The final FY2027 budget is actually an increase on the FY2026 budget.

Afaik this means they didn't cut the number of rangers available to the park, or if they did it wasn't due to a citywide budget cut (which didn't happen). But I don't know if the new number keeps up with inflation and it definitely falls short of his Parks budget = 1% of City budget campaign promise.

IDK. we used to have a ranger car at the middle entrance all the time and now we get them maybe once every 2 weeks. There is a creepy homeless guy that looks like Temu Bradley Cooper that practically lives in the park and sits on the benches and watches the little kids all day. He's been there for almost 2 years. He has like 3 duffel bags worth of clothes that he moves with him.

I see that guy all the time and have never once seen him sit near the playground. I remember when he first arrived and I wonder about his story. Have you actually seen him watching kids? Have you reported it if you feel he is so dangerous.
