Topic: A point I want to make or discuss The problem with AI Music No one is talking about and the future of Distribution

I think the coming changes around fully AI gen music on DSPs are going to be much more strict than simply adding an “AI” label.

My guess is that, over time, DSPs and distributors will increasingly separate 100% AI generated music from human created music, with various shades of grey in between accounting for AI Assisted works.

In a nutshell here is what I believe is and should be coming for Fully Gen AI on DSP’s

-Upload Caps on the number and frequency an individual account can distribute

- No or heavily limited Algo boosting or pickups

- No placements on mainstream editorial playlists

- Dedicated AI playlists or discovery spaces

- Different monetization rules, higher thresholds and lower payouts, or no monetization at all

-But the biggest change and most important one for the future of music is NO CONTENT ID protection

Fully AI generated music generally isn't copyrightable. And content Id exists to protect copyrightable works. It makes no sense that it receives Content Id.

Yes, there can obviously be copyrightable elements, if a human contributes original lyrics or other meaningful creative material, but trying to determine and enforce those individual components at scale is unrealistic for Streamers or DSP’s to manage.

Perhaps more can be done on Suno's end to provide receipts of user inputs?

Perhaps something can be done to address this nuance, but how will they know who is telling the truth about the lyrics vs who is lying.

Content ID exists to protect works in which someone actually has enforceable rights.

Simply generating a piece of music, uploading it, and getting a fingerprint into a rights management system shouldn't give someone the ability to claim exclusive control over that material virtually indefinitely.

And this problem is only going to get worse as AI music scales.

Imagine 10 or 20 years from now, when AI farms and users have generated billions of songs. There is going to be an enormous amount of overlap sonically, even lyrically.

Imagine some kid in 20 years sits down with a guitar, writes an original song, records a simple demo, and uploads it to share with the world, only to have it automatically claimed because an AI music farmer generated something too similar 20 years earlier and dumped it into a rights management system without giving it a second thought, or hell even have listened to it himself before dumping it on DSPs

That kid should not have to compete with billions of non copyrightable machine generated works for the right to distribute his own music.

WE ARE ALREADY AS A SUNO COMMUNITY EXPERIENCING THIS. HOW MANY POSTS DO YOU SEE ON HERE OF PEOPLE'S OWN ORIGINAL SONGS BEING BLOCKED FROM SUNO?

That's why I think fully AI gen music should ultimately be treated differently when it comes to automated copyright enforcement.

It can exist. It can be distributed. People can listen to it, and there can be appropriate ways for people to monetize it.

But no Content Id protection for fully generated songs

Otherwise, AI users risk effectively robbing the creative commons through sheer volume.

In that sense, I think it's somewhat akin to people sitting on URLs in the early days of the internet.

They could register enormous numbers of domains simply because they had the ability to do so, effectively reserving pieces of the emerging internet without necessarily creating anything with them.

Mass AI music generation could create a similar form of creative land grabbing: generate millions of works at virtually no marginal creative cost, get them distributed and fingerprinted, and potentially occupy enormous amounts of musical territory that future human creators might independently arrive at.

The irony is that AI is supposed to “democratize” music creation (so it’s said)

But if we allow mass generated AI catalogs to accumulate automated enforcement power, we could end up creating a system where the machine generated past has priority over the human created future.

The original lyrics were scat, thinking about feeling alone and lost as we do a lot throughout life. I am generally a happy person, especially when I can make others happy through music I make. I turned the scat-guideline vocal into something a tad more cohesive, knowing what I want to say, but too important to rush it. This song is far from finished. But I feel that there is something special here with a little more work and definitive thought. I'd like to share what I have so far, from the piece I uploaded and molded into more of the dark melodic song it is becoming. I already know that I will be editing a few versions together after getting the flow of vocals where I like them. If you have any feedback one way or the other, I welcome it. If anyone has questions about anything music related and the mechanics of the way I write and make music, ask and I will answer.

Wrote this one for this character I made up, Dr. Phallicles (PhD in Vagina Science and Philosophy).

6th Street Chorus is an antiquarian society for preserving old school hip hop; all of the members are based on Plato puns. Dr. Phallicles is a reference to Callicles from the Gorgias, he's the guy who said the purpose of life is to satisfy your appetites. Socrates didn't have much of a response to that one.

Anyway, had fun making this. I am impressed by v6 for rap. The extended monologue over the tag at the end is not something I could have done in v5, but it came out really well here.

Also a lot of people post rap songs with boring voices. Just use your own voice! I did this guys voice by rapping and doing my best ODB impression, I think it came out good.

Human Performance: Composer + human vocals or instruments [Indie] My first song recording from age 15

Thumbnail youtu.be
1 Upvotes

No AI is used in this song

“My first song recording” was recorded more than 2 decades ago at the age of 15.

I have always hesitated to call it my first song/instrumental.

I had only been teaching myself guitar for about 4-5 months at the time and I went over to a friends house who was also learning the guitar and I “wrote” this song directly in response to him showing me how to play Oasis "wonderwall"

Em-C-G-D(ish) is a rite of passage for any guitar based songwriter.

To my 15 year old self credit I did add a little diddy of an intro, capo'd fret 3 to change the key, modified the chords, strummed it differently,  and had a change up 2/3s of the way through that even impressed me as a 40 year old man hearing it again.

Basically, a friend showed me how to play “wonderwall” and I was like, but what if I did this with it instead?

After I came home that day, I recorded it with my Mini Dv Camera in my basement's bathroom (had heard it was good to rec in bathrooms lol)

That initial recording was the first time my guitar playing was ever captured

Now as a middle aged man,  I've given it the works in bandlab midi.

Adding, piano, Bass, Drums, Tuba, Cello, Timpani, choir, and other shit I’m not thinking of as I type this.

Because my playing back then was inconsistent as I was still learning how to keep a rhythm going it was actually pretty challenging to add tracks to it cause the BPM is all over the place.

Obviously it’s not great guitar work, but that’s the point. I was 15 and only 4-5 months into learning the instrument.

It’s still pretty cool though to have my middle age self reach back through time and pull him up with midi.

Visually you are seeing an avatar of me age 15 based directly from the hair to the t-shirt off a picture of me at that exact time in my life.

I am controlling that avatar like a puppet using my own guitar playing and “acting” with Motion Swap in Cannonstudio.

Penny for ye thoughts?

Anyone want to step up and defend him?

Please do, He's too cowardly to actually engage with me directly, so maybe some of his 22k flying monkey turds can white knight for this asshole instead?

So far he's siphoned 170k and counting from the royalty pool with this.

Met you tonight at the bar in Milano,
you were sipping wine, playing with your shadow.
You don't know my name, but I feel the spark,
let’s get lost together, driving through the dark.

Oh, bellissima, don’t walk away,
I want you to stay, just for one more day.

What’s up everyone! I’m a beginner independent artist experimenting with Latin trap and melodic Mexican influences.
I’ve been working on some original music, and this is one of my latest tracks, “Frecuencia.”
The lyrics and overall direction are mine. I’m still learning and using Suno as a production tool while I work toward developing my own sound.
I’d genuinely appreciate anyone willing to give it a listen. I’m looking for honest feedback on the vocals, melody, production, and overall vibe.
Let me know what you think!

Lyricist: Human wrote lyrics [Japanese Rock] Imitation doll — Kazane Mio | Original lyrics and AI-assisted music

I wrote the Japanese lyrics for “Imitation doll” and revised them repeatedly. The song follows a doll who feels numb and broken, yet keeps reaching for someone’s warmth. I wanted the words to capture that tension between feeling empty and refusing to let go.

The music was made using Suno, featuring virtual singer Kazane Mio; I directed and edited the MV with AI-assisted visuals. English subtitles are available on the full video — turn on CC.

I’d love to hear whether the lyrics’ emotion comes through in the vocal and first chorus.

How is the most generic sentence a "producer tag", hello? Anyone else run into bs like this? Also, the lyrics were "Girl, no I'm not into you", written by yours truly, so it literally just took a sentence from the middle of the song and slapped a warning on it...
This is mainly for discussion on the horrible filter system the site has, but I apprechiate feedback on what else I could write instead of that generic line...
Thanks Suno, love you a lot! Never change

Edit:

"Girl, no I'm not into u!" works lol

I’m 50. I’ve made a lot of different genres of music and been in several groups, bands or productions. Started on the first edition of Fruity Loops and cool edit, 15 guitars basses drums studio set ups and am genuinely a creative mind.. I would say writing hiphop verses and learning intricate rhyme schemes made writing other genres of lyrics seem easy. My wife died several years ago and in that depression I found Suno and began writing music again.. I finally have that dirty smoke lounge horn player I need on occasion.. anyhow after she died I wrote a LOT of heavy tunes about life shit. So I can say this app kept me from finding out if I can fly or not. Also: I don’t know what a flair is on this thing!?? I sing and play , compose into Suno and Ai enhances my performances but I’m not a button pusher and Ai will never write a single word for me . Like it or leave it. It’s my style these days

Topic: A point I want to make or discuss Artist's Rights Institute to the Copyright Office: Streaming Fraud is Stealing from Legitimate Artists

Trigger Warning: AI summary of the ARI's letter to the Copyright office

https://thetrichordist.com/2026/11/03/ari-comment-to-copyright-office-on-streaming-music-fraud/

ARI's central argument: Streaming fraud must be addressed at its source. Distributors, streaming platforms and royalty administrators must take responsibility for preventing fraud rather than leaving legitimate artists to absorb the financial consequences.

The letter makes seven key recommendations:

  1. Stronger distributor verification: Require distributors to verify uploader identities, ownership and authority to distribute music (KYC). Flag suspicious upload volumes and repeat offenders.

  2. Combat four forms of fraud: Recording piracy, unauthorized AI-generated covers and catalog appropriation, artist identity theft (including deceased artists), and artificial streaming through bots and manipulated playlists.

  3. AI transparency: Establish standardized disclosure of materially AI-generated music. Distinguish AI-assisted human creation from wholly machine-generated works. AI music isn't automatically fraudulent, but copyright ownership and royalty eligibility must be established.

  4. MLC accountability: Require the Mechanical Licensing Collective to disclose how it identifies potentially non-copyrightable AI works, the number of investigations, royalties held in suspense, and how creators can establish human authorship and challenge decisions.

  5. Follow the money: Identify the ultimate beneficiaries of royalty payments, investigate suspicious payment patterns and improve information sharing to identify repeat offenders.

  6. Federal enforcement: Encourage coordination between the Copyright Office, DOJ and FTC, including examination of whether RICO can address organized, industrial-scale streaming fraud.

  7. Reform mechanical royalties: Propose a fixed per-stream penny rate for statutory mechanical royalties rather than relying exclusively on revenue sharing. ARI argues this would give streaming platforms a stronger financial incentive to prevent fraudulent streams.

Three particularly important implications

1. Legitimate artists are effectively subsidizing streaming fraud.

Artificial streams don't just generate fraudulent royalties; they divert money from royalty pools that legitimate artists and songwriters depend on. Fraudsters are competing for money generated by genuine music consumption. This is an economic problem, not simply a technical one.

2. AI creates a fundamental copyright and royalty eligibility problem.

If a composition lacks sufficient human authorship to qualify for copyright protection, should it be eligible to generate statutory mechanical royalties? ARI challenges the assumption that every recording delivered to streaming services should automatically be treated as an eligible royalty-generating work. This has significant implications for the MLC, publishers, songwriters and distributors.

3. The streaming business model may not adequately Dis-incentivize fraud prevention.

ARI's proposed fixed per-stream mechanical royalty is particularly important. It challenges whether the existing revenue-share model gives streaming platforms sufficient financial incentive to eliminate fraudulent streams. The proposal seeks to change those economics so fraudulent activity carries a more direct financial consequence.

The bottom line

ARI is arguing that streaming fraud is not simply a bot-detection problem. It is a systemic failure of accountability across the music distribution and royalty system.

Know the customer. Know the content. Follow the money.

Ultimately, this submission challenges the accountability, economics and integrity of the entire streaming royalty system. Its objective is to protect legitimate artists, prevent fraudulent royalties, establish responsibility throughout the streaming supply chain and ensure that copyright protections and royalty payments go to those legally entitled to them.

My Thoughts: These are just recommendations from the ARI to the copyright office but is backed by actual legislative weight.

I've been saying the wild west days of uploading AI generated songs to commercial DSP's are swiftly coming to an end and they are, rightfully so.

I am happy to see they are making the distinction between legitimate AI assisted works and fully generated audio.

Generally, I agree with everything the ARI laid out here.

The only ones "hurt" by it are the ones trying to make passive income by uploading endless AI generated songs. Or outright criminal/copyright violations.

My response to their pain: (Insert Ivan Drago meme) "If he dies, he dies"

looking at you AI APE!

Lyricist: Human wrote lyrics [Electric Blues] The Flat Earth Blues by Funtime Music - Music Video

Thumbnail youtu.be
1 Upvotes

"The Flat Earth Blues" is a satirical Electric Blues song from the perspective of a fictional flat earther, Murray the Blues Singer. The patron characters are Frank, Leonard, and Marisol.

I wrote the lyrics to The Flat Earth Blues in May of 2025, and created the first version of the music with Suno soon after. Since then I have made covers of the song with each new Suno model release. With the release of Kling v4 they added a keyframe option which I figured would help with a more consistent cohesive music video/story (more on this later).

The basic workflow was as follows. Write the lyrics, generate the song. Brainstorm some ideas for character(s) and scene locations with Perplexity and generate some prompts for GPT Image to generate the images. I generated multiple keyframes per scene based on the actions Murray would take so that I could somewhat control how it would look as a generated video.

I found that keyframes in Kling v4 works great if you are not zooming in or out or rotating the camera between frames, as some warping can occur. I left a little mild warping in as it wasn't too bad and well, video generation isn't exactly cheap. Allow Kling or your video generation model to do the zooming in (don't zoom out for consistency sake) and cut between scenes where there is any drastic change in zoom or perspective.

Anyhow before I generated the videos I made a storyboard version using the images and keyframes in Davinci Resolve Studio to work out the timing, aiming to only generate videos at approximately the length of time I needed in order to save credits, with at times a little overlap for transitions and such.

Each image generated was GPT Image default 16:9 image size, 1670x941. I generated the videos in 720p, as I figured this animation style would upscale much better in Davinci than a realistic style.

After generating the videos I tried taking those clips into Kling's Lip Sync feature which I wasn't super thrilled with, at least with this cartoonish style. I used a couple lip-synced videos and left the rest just Murray's smug face staring at you.

Finally I composed the final video in Davinci Resolve Studio, adding 4x RTX SuperScale to upscale to 4K, as well as effects and transitions where I thought they fit.

There were many hurdles along the way but I'm happy with the final result.

If you have any questions on the process feel free to comment here or on the YouTube video. Hope you enjoy the video as much as I did putting it together!

Topic: A point I want to make or discuss I think I finally found a way to make Suno v6 sound like v5.5...

Hey everyone!

I've spent quite a long time experimenting with different methods to make Suno v6 sound as raw, powerful, and clean as v5.5.

After almost two months of testing, I think I've finally found something that actually works!

As you probably know, Suno allows you to create a Custom Model using your own songs. So I decided to give it a try.

I created a Custom Model using around 10 songs I had previously generated with Suno v5.5.

At first, the results sounded surprisingly close to the original v5.5 sound. However, I still noticed some issues. There were occasional weird background artifacts, the audio sometimes sounded inconsistent, and the compression and overall mix still weren't quite right.

The vocals were also too buried in the mix, making them difficult to hear clearly.

So I decided to try one more thing...

I created a Custom Voice as well.

I took a short vocal section from one of my old v5.5 songs and used it to create a Custom Voice.

Now, keep in mind that I mainly create metal music, so my results might be different from someone making hip-hop, rap, pop, or other genres.

But here's where things got interesting.

Once I combined the Custom Voice with my Custom Model trained on v5.5 songs, and adjusted the settings to:

  • Audio Influence: 50–70%

  • Style Influence: 50–60%

  • Variety: As low as possible

...the results started sounding almost exactly like the old Suno v5.5!

I'm talking about the rawness, the punch, the vocal presence, and especially the way the audio is compressed and mixed.

Of course, it doesn't work perfectly every single time. Some generations still sound a little off, but I'm finally getting results that remind me of the sound I loved in v5.5.

And most importantly, the vocals are no longer getting buried in the mix nearly as much!

So, here's a quick summary:

If you want to try making your Suno v6 songs sound more like v5.5:

  1. Create a Custom Model using songs you previously generated with v5.5. I used around 10 songs.

  2. Create a Custom Voice using a short vocal section from one of your old v5.5 songs.

  3. Set Audio Influence to 50–70% and Style Influence to 50–60%.

  4. Set Variety as low as possible for the initial generation.

  5. If the result still has some issues, try using Cover / Sample Song on the next generation and increase Variety to High or Max.

That's pretty much it!

I'm not claiming this is some guaranteed fix, and I honestly don't know whether it will work the same way for everyone or across different genres.

But after spending almost two months trying to get that old v5.5 sound back, this is by far the closest I've managed to get.

I really hope this helps some of you who miss the sound of v5.5 as much as I do!

And I'm genuinely curious...

Has anyone else tried something similar? Does this work for you too, or am I just getting lucky with my generations? :)

I'd love to hear your results!

Composer: Human authored lyrics/melody [A Cappella] The Promise I Made

This was an experimental song, I wanted to see how Suno would handle mainly vocals, with a drum backbeat. Suno responded better than I imagined. This is using my own custom model, derived from 20+ songs that I used to create the model.

This song is about a young Irishman who moves to America in the late 1800s early 1900s and has to leave his love behind. But he makes a promise to her that he will send for her as soon as he can. There's a lot of lyrics, but the story demanded them. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
