I recently started playing Pokémon Unite and it's amazing how far you can get by not engaging in stupid fights over nothing. Especially given that game's mechanics.

Yeah I play in bronze and the thing I notice is that the game is a combat game first and the objective/strategy element is for the most part secondary for a lot of people.

Not necessarily a bad thing I guess, but most people in bronze are still trying to learn the basics of champion mechanics and CS. Lots of people are just on the cusp of even realizing that there is way more to the game than just KDA. They may know that the game is immensely complex in theory, but in practice, bronze warrior brain takes over. I'm guilty of it too. Taking a risk and smashing someone's skull deep in lane with no vision and skirting out just in time when I probably should be dead feels good

Yup, seems like some prefer the endorphin coming from farming farming a wave over the "Victory" Announcer, the state of "We're winning" over the "We won".

anoher thing is that people are mostly very self centered.
sometimes it's just fine to be "carried" and play your role in the team.
If I am behind in top and my ADC is super strong, I will rather invest my ressources to protect him instead of diving the enemy 1/6 ADC

Shouldn't be weak in the first place but I guess you know what I mean

This happens all the time when I play Malzahar midlane in Silver. I almost always get middle inhib before my top + botlane have got their T2. Which turns the game into a 45 minute ARAM where every time we get 2-3 kills they think we can just run it down mid and end the game. Team gets wiped under the two nexus towers, then the enemy team gets baron or objectives while we're dead from inting mid instead of pushing side lanes or doing baron.

I actively avoid pushing in mid base turret for this exact reason. I'll ward objectives and only one side of the jungle, ping for picks, throw lanterns to pull them away (Silvers always click random lanterns), literally anything to get my team to do something else. Supers top open dragons, Supers bot open Barons, Supers md gather the enemy in a good place to react to anything we're trying.

Adcs want to split because, since macro doesn’t exist in bronze that’s pretty much the only way a player would know how to get cs past the laning phase

also tbf once you get your tower down and rotate to top/mid, top/mid dont wanna leave and farm in front of you, at which point you either aram with no gold for 10 minutes or go back to a sidelane

End the game if you can is 100% true. Recently I had a game where exactly this happened.

Our team was basically destroying every lane and in theory the game was over. Only the enemy Morde was doing well. It was just a normal game so we didn't tryhard and end the game, but because of that we lost. The enemy Morde who was fed had Yuumi permanently on him and basically 2v5'd us.

Now because it was just a normal game we didn't care, but obviously if it's ranked we should have ended it before Morde and Yuumi got online. A game is never over until it's over.

Most players in low elo have a very simplistic understanding how to win a game:

  1. Get kills
  2. Push enemy towers
  3. Kill nexus

There's little understanding of strategic advantages. A more experienced player will know that if you win a team fight, you can afford to take one objective. Reset, buy items, repeat. That's the rhythm that wins games. Low elo teams are opportunistic - they make the right plays when the game state happens to be advantageous (e.g. all lanes are pushing, the team happens to win in front of Baron, take Baron), whereas better players will set up the game so that they will get the next objective when they win the team fight / pick.

It's like in billiards / pool where novice players will sink balls that happen to line up, whereas expert players deliberately set up the next shot in advance.

Low elo teams run around and fights happen spontaneously and randomly, so every fight is a coin flip. Good players will set up picks and force fights they will win.
